Brand new Northern Chinese Restaurant!
Qin’s Place has the same English name but a total different Chinese names and serving a completely different menu.
Soup anyone? Soup that is good for your health and even have «special’ benefits that are fit for the emperor. There are 9 different kind of soups to choose from which are all serves in individual portion:
Red Dates and Goji (Wolfberry) Lamb Soup ($ 3.99)
— Gojiis known to have neutral properties nourishing the kidney, and believed to have the ability to reduce high blood sugar and improve eyesight
— Red Dates nourish the spleen, strengthen the vital energy, and promote blood cell formation
— lamb considered hot in nature is good in dispel colds, nourish energy and blood, promote appetite, aid in lactation, treat back pain caused by a kidney weakness, bolster strength, and to treat impotence
— So with these ingredients and simmered away from direct heat in this huge claypot (big enough for me to have a bath in) for hours without losing any of the nutrients
— The aroma of the gamey lamb was strong but the sweet tasting dates kind of balanced it out and I taste more the sweetness than the lamb itself
Spicy Crispy Chicken Soft Bone ($ 13.99)
— Deep Fried «Banana» Peppers that looks like cooked lobster shells but tastes so crunchy and good… It just have a little kick of spiciness but can be eaten like a chips!
— lightly breaded chicken is moist and have great bite
— Love all those white sesame seeds and peanuts that gave the dish more complex flavours
— Excellent drinking food (A Pitcher of beer is $ 7.99, I should have order one!)
Special Flavour Pomelo Peel ($ 8.99)
— A dish that is the favourite of Yang Guifei, a Tang Dynasty (618 – 907) famous concubine
— Cooked in minced pork with chili, I don’t really like the mushy and soggy texture of the peel instead nor I like the hint of bitterness
Steamed Pork and Cabbage Dumplings ($ 5.50)
— Not bad but I found the fillings was not seasoned enough but maybe I have been eating too much of those red peppers and my taste buds were on fire?
I like this «New» Qin’s Place much better. I can see myself coming back and drink a pitcher of beer and just stuff myself with more red peppers… or one of those Spicy Hot Pots!
