JYSK – Scarborough

Usually when I come here is to pick up something for my home, I know what I want, I find it quickly and get out. I am a typical guy when shopping in the sense that I very rarely stop to look around.
Recently when I was here, I’m was with my mother and being who she is, Moshe had to check every other thing just to make sure that was not a better one. This gave me a chance to look at the inventory here and the selection. I though it was pretty good, I did not realize they had so many it’s for sale here. There is even furniture; nothing big mind you but something for redecorating.
Totally unrelated I noticed that there is a lot of natural light coming into the store through the high windows, I thought this made the store much nicer to walk through and the sun light made it seem like being outside. Very nice store!

Found a good mattress on sale. I live like under 3 minutes from the place, yet they wanted to charge me $ 80 for delivery.

Picked up a set of blackout curtains two months ago, 50% off at $ 20 each. JYSK is the only store I found to sell some curtain packages with two pieces, all curtains from Walmart come with only one piece. I have big windows in my rooms so one piece will not do.
Saved about $ 80.00 in the end for four windows, major plus. Good fabric, keep my rooms cool in the summer, warm in the winter. Saves on my energy bill a fair bit.

This was truly one of the worst customer experiences I have ever had. After receiving an email saying my order was ready for pick up, I came to this store, only to have the receiving guy tell me he needed my email printed. No where in their email to pick up my item does it say to do that.
And I quote:

All you need is a piece of photo ID as this required to pick up your item (s). The name under the shipping information needs to match the name on the ID. Click here or visit
to get the phone number and full address of your store.
When I went into the store to ask why this wasn’t included in the email — their rep apologized and said «Yeah, the web order store kinda sucks». Great feedback from an employee. The in store manager was kind enough to print out my order so I could walk around again to the receiving area to pick up my item. I gave him the print out, and he still said he wasn’t sure if this was enough, and left me out there for another 10 minutes before returning with my item — a box that was so ripped and beat up I thought it was a joke. My wife and I had to open it in the car to make sure none of the parts where damaged before driving off. The best part — not one person asked me for a piece of ID. The only thing their email told me to bring and they didn’t even check it.

The store is too crowded. You can barely get a cart around. Some things are really junkie looking and very cheep in quality not just price. I was only there to pick up something for a friend. Cashier was very blunt and on the rude side. I would definitely not shop there again because I am a big customer service person. And by the way; the quality «does not compare to Ikea», nor does the customer service.

Cheap furniture and furnishings. Good for students. You can probably furnish a whole apartment for under $ 1000.
Some items are quite practical esp. the dressers etc. Too bad they are not my style. Definitely worth a visit .They have a large selection of drapery as well.

JYSK is a budget, discount stores specialized in furniture, linens and other home decoration items. Great if you looking for reasonable priced items and the designs are quite IKEAish too! A lot of them are condo/​apartment scale so great if you are looking for furniture for dorms or smaller spaces!
