I am grateful every day for the fact that I live in Ontario where midwifery is regulated and covered by OHIP. Midwives provide an excellent personalized level of service and support that you just can’t get with an OBGYN. You can have a hospital birth with a midwife is you are not comfortable with an idea of a home birth. One of your midwifes will be there at your birth, that’s a near guarantee. Meanwhile, getting your OBGYN to attend your birth is a crap-​shoot with very low odds. Diversity Midwives is a wonderful clinic and I’ve had a great experience there. My home birth ended up being an emergency C-​section but my midwife stayed with me the whole time, reassured me and made me feel comfortable. She was my cheerleader and made sure that my and my son’s best interests stayed paramount. Midwives rock! This was my second pregnancy and if I have more kids, I’m definitely going to choose midwives again! Mehrnaz and Elena, we love you!
