Air Transat

We arrived at the Montréal Airport for our long awaited flight to Barcelona. We had upgraded to OPTIONS PLUS and done online check in so we had our boarding passes. When we arrived at the line up for the Air Transat, we showed our boarding passes, which clearly state OPTION PLUS, and were directed by an AIR TRANSAT employee to a line — the longest and slowest moving.
When we finally arrived at the counter we were told it was now just past 1 hour before the flight departure and we could not check our luggage. We could fly and they would send our luggage on the next flight. Today is Sunday… the next flight is Friday. We did not take this option.
At no time did we hear anyone calling for us, or announcing Barcelona. We were no where near the end of our line of passengers.
The next available flight was the next day at 7 pm (which we had to pay for). We spent the night in Montréal in a hotel (which we had to pay for). Our call to customer service got us the taxes back $ 54.00 each (3 of us) from a total of $ 2800.00. and the cost of the new tickets was $ 1950.00.
Air transat does not fly to Barcelona Monday to Thursday, so we are flying to Malaga which is MUCH farther down the coast — 11 hours on a bus.
Overall, everyone was polite but unable to help us in any way.
I will never fly Air transat again and will be telling everyone one I know about this incident.

Think twice before taking Air Transat. If you’re taking economy class, there’s virtually no leg room at all. The seats are very small and uncomfortable with little lumbar support. I guess, if you’re plus size, I recommend upgrading to business class?
I was disturbed with the fact that the flight attendants didn’t do a seatbelt check and they didn’t do a safety demonstation before the flight. There was a video on safety, but the volume way too low for anyone to hear it. Also, the video was extremely fuzzy and the words on the screen were so tiny. No on-​board safety demos on proper seatbelt usage, locations of emergency exits and how to use a lifejacket.
Some of the food was actually tasty, as my vegetarian noodles was almost restaurant quality. The flight attendants were friendly, and they always came by asking me if I wanted drinks or snacks.
The pilots did a great job flying. The plane was very stable during most of the flight.
