I may have to take a break from coming here, because I am getting fat I think. Saint Joachim Diner is one of those places that I could eat at daily. Definitely one, if not thee one, of the best diners in the Windsor or even Detroit area. It is worthy of crossing the border for !! Everything on the menu is made from scratch each day… everything !! Everything, from the burger buns to the jam on your Sunday toast, is made in house. The way it should be ! This place is for real and all at reasonable prices too. No skimping BS here at all. When they run out of food or certain items, that is what happens when you have a following and make everything from scratch… live with it. You’re young, you will get over it. Unilocal really needs to have 6 stars. I have been here a dozen times now for breakfast and lunch. For breakfast, I am hooked on their Irish corn beef hash and the breakfast poutine. The poutine has fresh cut home fries topped with ham, bacon, sausage, tomatoes, green onions, Montréal cheese curds, a poached egg and smothered in hollandaise sauce. The other thing is, get the peameal and eggs. They make their own peameal bacon ! They cure it and the whole 9 yards… who does that? Incredible… For lunch… wow, where to start? If it is a Friday, get the Yellow belly perch and fries. It is one of the best Fish & Chip meals I have ever had. The five pieces of perch are fresh from Lake Erie. If you come here on any other day than Friday, I like the homemade perogis… they are potato and cheese perogis sauteed with bacon and onions. They are the best I have had and knock Hamtramck into the left field. Or if you are really hungry, get the chicken and perogis. The burgers are excellent, the cabbage rolls are to die for. I just can’t say enough about this place. Worth the drive from Windsor down the 401. I hope they stick around and keep it up… Legendary spot even though they are only a few years old… waitstaff is excellent too !! Yes.yes, yes… !
