First time to eat at this Taiwanese restaurant located on Blundell road in Richmond. Location: great! Big parking lot with many parking spots outside the restaurant. It is in the same complex of IGA and shoppers drug mart. Food: great! The BBQ pork fried rice came first. It tasted very well that the chef cooked the rice well. The dish of braised butterfish tasted good and it was big. I loved the chicken fried rice cake. The two different pots of soup tasted great as well. Basically each dish of food was great. There was no MSG. I didn’t feel thirsty after eating so much food! Ambiance: great! The environment was quite comfortable giving us a «homey» feel. The interior design of the restaurant was not very fancy, but it was fair good enough for a family type of restaurant. Service: each server was friendly. I liked the one who told me which dishes were popular in the restaurant. Basically she went through the menu from the beginning to the end with me. I really appreciate her time and service. All of the servers treated us well that they always checked on our table and made sure we had been taken care of. Pricing: not expensive at all. I ate dinner with family and relatives with 8 adults and 2 kids. The bill was only$ 120 plus tip. Comparing to White Spot, Boston Pizza, and even some HK cafes, this restaurant was way cheaper.

Not sure why it’s classified as Asian Fusion. It’s taiwanese with some Vancouver-ish influences. Mostly stirfry and clay pot style dishes. They don’t have beef noodle soup. Everything tasted pretty good. Very little use of MSG. They claim to use free range chicken in their chicken dishes and I think it’s true. The interior décor is well appointed. The restrooms are very clean and nicely decorated. Service was quick and friendly. In general, it was quite a good experience. Food came out fast. I think from the time we ordered to when all plates were on the table was less than ten minutes. Dishes ranged in price for $ 6 — $ 15. So quite inexpensive.

A definite new favourite in the neighborhood. On a weekday, we decided to try Wang Ji because Shikisai is closed on Mondays. The space used to be a Chinese restaurant that has been there for more than two decades. I like what they have now done with the space, it’s much more spacious and modern. They have a variety of Chinese stir-fry dishes on the menu, along with fried rice, noodles, and some Taiwanese dishes. I opted for the pork dumplings as well as the deep fried squid tentacles. They also have a selection of bubble tea, I got a matcha and red bean slush, which was delicious. The dumplings arrived not long after ordering, and when I asked for chili paste, they gave me both the paste, as well as the one with the chili flakes and oil. The dumplings were homemade, with a pork and cabbage filling. I especially liked it with the chili oil. The tentacles took a bit longer, but they were one of the best I’ve had. A light batter, and not overly oily. The squid was also not dry or chewy. The servers here speak both English and Chinese, and friendly. They are also licensed. We saw many of the other dishes that other tables ordered, and they all looked good. I will have to return and try them!

I found this restaurant through Unilocal since it was labeled as «new and hot» on the list of restaurant suggestions. We also were taking photos of the red moon eclipse as well in their parking lot. One thing I have to praise is the staff’s friendliness and attention to customers. I was also happy that the staff spoke English as well as Chinese, since many Chinese restaurants only have Mandarin speaking staff. The staff kept checking up on our table to refill our tea cups, which was great, because at other restaurants I am constantly waiting a long time to get my water or tea. We ordered the pineapple fried rice(nice touch with the topping of tobiko eggs), pig blood pot with sand ginger(a delicious flavorful broth with pork blood cubes), hot starfruit green tea, and passionfruit green tea. They also serve refillable plain hot tea. I give 4 stars for the pig blood pot soup, husband gives 3.5 stars for the rice, and we agreed on 5 stars for staff service, so our overall review for the restaurant is 4 stars.

Service is decent. A bit of a wait for my take out, but the servers are nice. Ordered pork fried noodles, lots of noodles, but barely any meat. Fried chicken nuggets were dry and a bit hard. The red braised soft tofu was good. In Richmond, there are way better Taiwanese places, but I gave them an extra star for the non-greasy cooking. Food not as oily as some other places, so I didn’t feel gross after eating. Prices average.
