I went in for lunch around 12, wait 30 mins for a simple plate! The place was full at all, only three tables of customers… I asked waitress to check but not come back to me… when the dish came, the main dish«Green onion fried beef» only has few slices of beef, tastes super salty! Three sides are cold. The rice is cold and hard. Terrible! Won’t visit again. Highly NOT Recommend!

Uncle Lu Richmond 安可盧萬巒豬腳 is a Taiwanese restaurant that I’ve tried a few times now. I am quite happy there are few new Taiwanese restaurants opening ex. Maji Taiwanese Stir Fry 麻吉台式熱炒. The décor at Uncle Lu reminds me of an evening of Taiwanese lantern festival. Classic Garlic Stir-Fry Water Spinach: a simple, clean and classic dish with fresh Chinese vegetables. You can never eat too many vegetables. 3-Spice Chicken Hot Pot: Dry marinated chicken with a ton of fried ginger and green onions. The meat was tad on the dry side. Oyster Pancake: This oyster pancake is towards the watery side. A little goopy if you will. It was pretty delicious but didn’t have a lot of oysters. It is different to traditional Chiu Chow oyster pancakes that are dry. If you prefer the dry crispy oyster panckaes than, JC Kitchen 嫁Ge冷潮州菜 and Parklane Chinese Restaurant 百樂潮州酒家 are pretty good. Fermented Pork Chop: A mild and not very salty. The meat is fatty and quite tender. Pork Hocks: marinated in soy sauce and served with garlic dipping sauce. The meat was fatty and I would prefer some leaner cuts. Fermented Shrimp Fried Rice: A fragrant fried rice with some salty shrimp. I liked the rice was dry enough and not mushy.

Authentic Taiwanese food. I took off one star because service was a little off. Everything we had was pretty good. We had(1) Sweet and sour Cod-(fish was very fluffy),(2)Taiwanese salty-crispy chicken(–authentic and has lots of basil which is key),(3)oyster egg omelette–(good amount of oysters),(4)Sesame oil pork —(very rich flavor),(5) green squash with clams —(Fresh and refreshing) and(6) pig’s blood with intestine soup(my favorite not too salty but pack with flavor)!!

WOooOoooOW– where do I begin?! I arrived at the restaurant at 1pm, I glanced in for a bit but no one paid attention to me standing there. As I write on the chart my name and number of people in my party I sit down on the bench that’s by the door while others follow in and write their names on the chart as well. A server comes and checks the chart and skips my name and takes the other two parties below mine to be seated down. [ *don’t use the chart– it’s not necessary* ] — just stand at the entrance side into the restaurant where someone can see you and seat you. After finally getting seen and seated and given menus, I sat down and pulled off my jacket as a male server was fast on bringing over the tea. As my friend arrived and we were ready to order, I was snubbed by the waitress a few times before she returned to take my order. *if you don’t know Chinese, keep the menu open to what you want because they don’t know the menu from the order numbers* I asked if the slush drinks were powdered or made fresh — they are powdered. :(so sad! But I ordered the taro anyways. I ordered C-1 and C-2. Chinese pancake with green onion, and fried DUMPLING with ground meat, why did I just capitalize Dumpling because it’s just one BIG dumpling that’s fried. The sauce, and inside of the dumpling was good but the outside of it just looked and had the texture of gelatinous fat, it was pretty gross. And I didn’t think it was ground meat inside either, just some kind of chopped up beef from a stew?. Well before our dishes came out they give you your plates, napkins and chopsticks. We were given 5 chopsticks for two people. *awesome* What did I do with that one extra stick?! NOTHING. No one came to refill our tea or check up on us and the waitress missed one of the dishes we ordered. To be honest as I went to the washroom I was afraid, but it was actually one of the most cleanest washrooms I’ve been in(in an Asian restaurant). Down fall — it is a tight squeeze to the washroom, meaning I felt it wasn’t very wheelchair friendly at all. As the restaurant was mostly empty, only for a few tables, it still took them a while to take notice we have put money out to pay for the bill. Although my friend was angry about how bad the service was and probably would give this restaurant a 1 – 0 stars, the food was alright so I will be kind and give it a star. I also give a star to the male server that was keen on bringing me the tea so fast. Will I come again? maybe… ONLY when it’s not so busy.

Uncle Lu’s is similar to Pearl Castle, Bubble World etc, but classier and less catered toward teeny boppers. Uncle Lu’s sister store is Corner 23, their napkins have their logo on them! Their signature dish is their pork hocks. It came in a set with rice and some side dishes. You can also substitute the rice/side dishes for a bowl of noodles. The pork hocks were tender and came with some garlic sauce on the side. Service was alright. Typical taiwanese joint with average food.

It was fluke that we ate here. DW and I like to try new restaurants whenever we can and we had 2 specific places we went to and both were closed today. We were at the continental plaza looking for any new restaurant and I kid you not, we were parked right in front of the restaurant and couldn’t tell it was a restaurant! The restaurant is nicely decorated and renos looked good. It reminded us of «Strike». We tried the pan fry steak $ 10.95 and the namesake pork hock with vermicelli $ 8.50. It all started out with me thinking this would be better than Strike, it was not to be. The pan fry steak was cheaper than strike but the steak was way over-cooked. The namesake was nothing to write home about. Restaurant looks nice with ample parking. Will return as we saw dishes another table that looked very inviting. Maybe not being Taiwanese handicaps us in terms of what we should be ordering. Fear not, we will return with the kids and give it another go in the near future. Andy Richmond bc

I ordered a hot grilled shredded beef with rice and it was very delicious and decent enough portion at a good price. i think my dish was $ 8.95 I like the décor with the fancy lanterns above and general vibe and service was friendly. Lots of parking too. I would come back and recommend it as a casual asian eat in place for sure!

The food is quite good, but the seating isn’t comfortable! I got the taro milk tea with pearls and it practically had no taste. I would go there again for food but not drinks!

I like this place. The food is decent and the ambiance is comfortable. I came here with my significant other after a wedding held at the Vancouver Club. After leaving the wedding feeling underfed we drove around Richmond and was stoked to see the red OPEN sign still blinking away. Yes there are always the same safe places to eat late at night such as Pearl Castle and Estate Tea but no… we wanted to try somewhere new. We arrived at around 11pm where there were two other tables finishing up their meals. I notice immediately the high ceilings, the beautiful lantern looking ceiling lights and the mirrors on the walls. There’s something about these combination and the cleanliness that just make the space inviting. I must point out the entrance is tactfully designed to block the wind so dining guests don’t feel gusts of wind whenever doors are being opened and closed. My significant other ordered their signature pork hock but with rice vermicelli in soup. I ordered a small hot pot of sour cabbage and sliced pork which came with a side of white rice. The pork hock was beautifully cooked. It was served lukewarm with garlic soy sauce paste. The skin of the pork was bouncy and had a great chew. The meat to skin ratio was quite balanced(1:1). It was so well cooked it reminded me of home. The rice vermicelli was slightly soggy. The soup was water and deep fried shallot with chives and bean sprouts. This is very Taiwanese and very authentic. My sour cabbage hot pot was delicious. I love the tangy-ness and crunchiness of the napa cabbage. The pork slices were thin but the quantity was quite plentiful. I was surprised to see two shrimps(with head), a piece of squid, and a fish ball. I am not a fan of shrimps but these ones taste sweet and pretty fresh. I find the food authentic, comfy, and delicious. Service was attentive and polite. I would come back.

New eatery within the Continental Mall, they have a sister store called Corner 23 and Cambie in Vancouver. They are supposed to be famous for their pig hocks or trotters due to a family recipe made famous back in Taiwan. I am not much of a pigs feet eater so I did not try it. This is a Taiwanese eatery with the typical sets, drinks. We ordered: Deep fried Oysters $ 7.25 — small bites, not very well seasoned, served with sweet spicy Thai chili sauce, pricy for the portion served Beef Noodle Soup $ 8.50 — served with 4 pieces of well cooked beef slices and wide flat noodles, the broth is dark sweet taste with a touch of chili oil. Not used to savory soup stock with such a sweet taste Dried Shrimp Fried Rice $ 9.50 — fried rice with tiny dried shrimp, very tasty, average portion, the shrimp gives a nice crunch The décor is quite nice and spacious as it has a high ceiling, decorated with Chinese lanterns. Prices are slightly high but we will return to try other items.

Beef noodle soup was decent, a bit sweeter than most with a chinese medicine taste. Pretty good overall. The red fermented pork combo dish was an interesting take. Not as red as most(probably for the best), fried & then thinly sliced. The flavour of the seasoning would prbably be good if the quality of the pork was better. Too much fat overall. End of the day it’s worth at least one visit, but if you don’t like their take on these traditional dishes the whole place pribably won’t work for you.

Another grand new Taiwanese BBT at Continental. It’s named at Uncle Lu(Same as corner 23 on Cambie St). The interior was nice and simple, a lot of Chinese vector lanterns hanging from the ceiling. We had 2 simple dishes and it’s ok. The service and food was fast. Double cooked pork with cabbage — It’s ok, not too spicy but too much meat. Braised Beef noodles — The beef was soft and flat thick noodles quite bouncy. Probably can return with my co-workers to try out more other dishes.
