Time Escape

This my 4^th experience doing a timed escape setup (twice in Boston, once in San Francisco). Here we did the Spaceship Mysteries puzzle and it was a fun experience. A handful were arbitrarily difficult but the hints are helpful and it was well-​designed. Overall I would recommend and hope to be back soon.
We didn’t manage to complete the puzzle, however, they will tell you how the puzzle ends and what you missed if you choose. You can also choose not to hear the ending and do a retake at a discounted price, which is a great option. It’s up to you!

Haunted Cabin: Did this with a group of 6 friends. I felt the rooms weren’t really haunted at all and didn’t fit the theme. Also I felt the rooms were cheaply done and there was usually only 1 – 2 puzzle/​codes per room but there were 4 rooms to get through. Overall, it was a good challenge — few things in there that we would have never thought to try unless we got hints. We were very close to getting it, I agree with the ⁵⁄₁₀ difficulty.
Lethal Virus: At the same time my friends were complementing this room. They had a blast. It is very hard but they did well.

I’ve gone to Time Escape twice now, with two different groups.
On my first visit, we did the Haunted Cabin as a group of six. We had so much fun and came so close to solving it. Having a group that size definitely helped. There was one part that, for the life of me, I couldn’t figure out. Other group members, with their trusty math skills, were able to figure it out though. Still, it wasn’t enough to get us out of the room successfully, but it was enough to make us come back again.
On our second visit, we did the Presidential Assassination with a group of four. It was hard! We used one of our two hints (also love that you’re allowed two hints!) in the very first room on something so incredibly simple! It wasn’t long after that we used our second hint. Needless to say, we didn’t make it very far.
The staff is great and the rooms are well done. It’s also nice that there’s almost always a Groupon available. There is definitely a group element to the rooms, so be sure to choose your team wisely and have fun!

SPACESHIP MYSTERIES: absolutely fantastic! The décor was really well done and the puzzles were fun to solve. The variety of skills required definitely made it a team effort! The room was challenging enough to be fun but not too challenging that we would be completely stumped with no idea where to turn. We were on such a high from escaping the spaceship that we immediately signed up for another room…
CASTLE SECRETS: was harder than spaceship mysteries despite what it says on the website! Definitely required more brain power than we had but once the hints were given we were kicking ourselves for not connecting the dots! Again, the room décor definitely set the scene well.
The staff are brilliant, super fun to talk to and very friendly. Definitely my favourite escape room company! Will continue to come back and do as many rooms as possible.

We did Lethal Virus. There were 6 of us in total, most of us have only done 1 escape room in the past but some were more advanced and one was completely new. I’d highly recommend this place. Lethal Virus has a 5% success rate but that being said, we got to the very end and almost finished. Given an extra 5 minutes, we could’ve probably escaped. The storyline, the puzzles, the presentation of the rooms and the staff were all incredible. At least for Lethal Virus, the puzzles are thought out so that you’re not all staring at one person doing a single thing but it’s made so that everyone can figure out different things and help each other out in a teamwork fashion, which is the way it should be. I’ll definitely be going back!

Location: Convenient, right on a major street in Richmond and ample parking. It’s clean, not too busy and easy to book with.
Style of play: Simple, very well designed. Teamwork is definitely a factor. Each room matched its story well, and the puzzles had a large variety. Definitely one of the better locations in terms of esthetics. It’s not too hard, but definitely not easy.
Staff: In terms of service for an escape room establishment, I’d say they are in my top 3. Russell, the owner and creator, is a super fun guy and his staff are much alike him. They are friendly, super helpful with the hints (and they don’t just tell you!) and they’re really patient.
We’ve done all of their rooms here and we’re waiting for the next one to roll out. We’re super excited!

I was feeling the itch for another escape game and Time Escape conveniently had a deal on Groupon. Fantastic! Museum Heist was the only one available for our preferred time slot so with my entourage of 5, we were ready for some Thomas-​Crown-​style fun.
The Museum theme was not the most intricately designed room or the most difficult. We had a pair escape virgins so it served as a good intro. However, for the more seasoned Houdinis out there, I’d recommend a longer more difficult room — perhaps Spaceship or The Haunted Cabin. I quite enjoyed solving the intuitive puzzles and props they had. The clues are straight forward and one doesn’t need to think too far outside the box. We eventually escaped using both of our hints and the majority of our 45 minutes.
The staff here are amazing. They’re really friendly and helpful and weren’t in a huge hurry to kick us out to make room for the next group. When we used a hint, they guided us to the solution versus giving us the answer outright. *thumbs up*. What amazed me was the sheer number of themes available: Nine! From the outside, the place doesn’t look that big.
So how does it stack up to the competition? The puzzle difficulty was not as tough but equally satisfying to solve. There were no nonsensical puzzles that force you to use a hint — the storyline was linear and made sense. The décor and design of the room was not as elaborate as others but still got the job done. Value-​wise, $ 24 per person (retail) is on the higher end for 45 minutes but Groupons seem to be readily available. Customer service is top notch.
Final thoughts? Top 6.

I always love Escape games. Been to this place twice and both times, we have escaped. yes I am serious. No kidding. They do change their theme room from time to time. But of the luck of the draw not all rooms have multiple rooms in them. So depend on the theme you picked. Story line is not bad.
I can’t give out too much here or else the fun fades away.
Remember always show up on time. And at least have a group of 6. It helps and makes thing more fun.

Such an awesome experience! The room we tried, Haunted Cabin was quite challenging.
The staff were friendly and provided great customer service and wanted to make sure we enjoyed our time there.
There was lots of parking and the location was easy to find on No. 3 Road.

OMG you have to go! I have been to 90 different rooms all over Vancouver and Richmond. Time escape is the best. It may not be all fancy and glitzy but they make you feel great. The rooms are well made, everything makes sense and the staff is awesome. The owner makes you feel like one of his personal friends. I cant recommend this place enough. My favourite is the spaceship time escape!

Very fun and people there are very friendly and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone who loves solving puzzles.

A friend had a voucher so 6 of us decided to tackle the Spaceship room (I think difficultly was ⁷⁄₁₀?) and managed to get out with about 1min 30secs left on the clock. I’ve been to a few other escape places in Richmond and would recommend this over the others as they are all priced similarly — there is a lose story, but you don’t all need to crowd around a print out and spend precious time reading it. The puzzles also need to be solved chronologically (in the room we tried at least) and was greatly varied — testing on logic, visual perception, memory, decoding, etc (not just math and decrypting numbers to open locks all the time as found in some other escape places). The décor for our room was also very cool and done well. The only suggestion for improvement would be to add some sort of sound or other signal to celebrate/​signal escape from the room. When we solved the last puzzle, the door just kind of opened and some of us didn’t know even know we succeeded until our friends told us — a tad anticlimactic, but otherwise very fun. Great service and there’s parking in the front and back.

My friends and I have been to a couple other escape rooms and we found Time Escape to be the most story-​themed and included the most variation of puzzles and mysteries. The rooms were definitely not just a bunch of locks that lead to other locks. We started off doing the Haunted Cabin one and failed right at the last step. We had so much fun we decided to come back for another room, the Spaceship Mysteries. For our second room, we chose a more challenging one, and we actually completed it with 10 seconds to spare. This room got us so excited we again decided to do two more rooms. To sum up our day, we spent 4 hours trying to escape 4 rooms. Although we only succeeded in escaping 1 room, we had a blast! The customer service was superb. We got to know the staff and definitely will be coming back to chat with them and enjoy escaping the rest of the 7 rooms they have.

Time Escape was actually quite hard even though we picked the second easiest room and in the end, we failed anyways! I believe we got to the third last clue before escaping but it was quite surprising that our room was so small. Even though it was a single room, there was a lot of interaction so we had fun!
Nothing malfunctioned (like at the previous establishment) and we were very happy with the extremely helpful staff who provided excellent customer service. We found that Time Escape had an actual story line behind the puzzles and there was a need for actual team work! Thinking outside of the box is actually pretty hard in these sort of situations, especially with the clock ticking!
I would give them 4.5 stars but we just found that with the particular room we chose, there was not much sense of accomplishment halfway through since we only had a single room.

I have visited Exit and Myst in the past, but Time Escape was my favourite. I was with a party of three, and we played Spaceship Mysteries. Going inside, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The décor was amazing, lighting was perfect too, it really gives off the impression that you’re stuck in a spaceship, but I don’t know why. There were several different rooms that you had to unlock and explore, puzzles and clues were laid out in those rooms very nicely. They were hard to find and figure out, but they made a lot of sense logic-​wise. Everything flowed nicely, and if you ever get stuck, you have two hints. The staff members won’t tell you the exact answer, but point you in the right direction, just so you still have a sense of achievement. Overall, much fun, wow, such space, much mysteries. So recommend. Wow.

This turned out to be way more fun than I thought it was going to be.
The premise: You’re trapped in a scenario and have to solve a series of challenges of unknown sequence in order to complete your mission or escape. There is no other clue except for a starting position, and a very simple hint from the staff. After that, you’re on your own with your team for 45 minutes with nothing more than your minds, what’s around you in the room, and a countdown clock.
Ok, you’re not actually «locked in», and you are able to ask for two hints from the staff during the game. They don’t give away too much, but the help was definitely needed. The staff, in general, is very friendly and attentive.
I went with a birthday group, and we were divided up into groups of six per mission. The two missions I participated in were Museum Gallery Heist and Spaceship Mysteries.
There are several other missions of varying difficulty, and apparently they change from time to time.
I’ll admit. We were confident going in. Eager to boast about our success with the other teams afterwards. The games themselves are humbling. The way they are put together is VERY clever, and more difficult than we expected. It requires you to look at things in many different ways, and to forego the obvious and predictable. Anything could be a clue, or not. I’ll say one thing. They are tough to solve. But honestly, I would not have wanted them to be easier. I’m impressed by the unexpected level of detail put into the games.
My suggestion is to start with an easier level, because even those have a limited success rate. the overall success rate is about 1 in 5, so prepare yourself for a challenge.
I’d highly recommend this for a group event or team-​building.

I’ve been to Exit and Xscape and Time Escape by far is the best one. The room logically flows and are well put together. There’s a story line in the room that is relevant to solving clues to escape. Customer service was excellent, the staff member working there was very enthusiastic and you can tell he is very passionate.
We did the haunted cabin which was suppose to be an easier room, we were close to escaping but ran out of time. I especially enjoyed the fact that the rooms didn’t solely depend on locks and uses different forms of tools, this sets this company apart from its competitors. Our group definitely enjoyed the experience and would very likely return to try a different room.

Concept: I like that it’s not just a theme room but that it also has a story to it. There’s two rooms where the story connects (epilogue to one room). The room that we went to was sparsely decorated. It was more about thinking outside the box. However, I can’t help but compare it to a previous escape experience that game had more to it. More steps that one had to accomplish and more puzzles. I am hoping that other rooms at this establishment have more activities to them.
Service: This place is all about the service. Owner is very enthusiastic and he tries to help you have a good time. He seems to also be very involved with the daily operations. The reception girl was nice and polite. You get a picture at the end.

Very cool experience! We had no idea what to expect and I think that’s part of the fun so I’m not going to release too many details.
There are several different room options, check out the website as they are all varied in levels (10 being the hardest and not recommended unless you are absolutely brilliant. No really you need to BE brilliant, not just think you are brilliant. I suppose if you have a ton of experience with these maybe that would work too.) If you’re a first timer pick a lower level.
Friendly and very helpful proprietor, we really enjoyed chatting with him and learning more about this type of entertainment and how the create it.
If you’re considering going — just book it, it’s neat and fun!
