Tao Day Spa

I love the spa, facials, location and ambience. I’m taking stars off because of their reception system. They don’t have a receptionist. It’s usually one of the aestheticians who are on duty. Most of the time I call no one picks up and I have to leave a message. I called yesterday, left my name and number and no one called me back and it is now the end of the second day and I guess I’ll look for another place or should I call back and chase them down? For a spa that prides itself on service and quality it needs a receptionist or online booking or a better way to answer calls and book clients who are willing to pay good money for a good spa experience.

Always a wonderful experience. Professional, knowledgable and friendly staff. Definitely the best pedicure around! I’ve tried almost all of them.

I’ve been to this spa twice, once for a pedicure and the second time for a hot stone massage. I really liked the atmosphere of the spa but I found it a bit weird that the room I was having the massage in had open spaces at the ceiling so you could hear people going down the hallways and stuff. Not a huge distraction but I’m used to quiet and soothing music while having a massage. I also think the prices are a bit high but think it’s worth it. The ladies here have great customer service

This was my first experience with Tao Day spa and it was… fantastic. I was easily able to book an appointment with a professional and friendly representative over the phone. They were also quite accommodating since I was able to change it to better fit my schedule a couple days prior to the appointment.
Since it’s in Steveston, I arrived a little early to ensure a parking spot on the road so that I didn’t have to pay for parking. I easily found a spot since it’s a week day morning. Later on, I was told that Tao does have some parking spots but you have to reserve them on the phone earlier which is good to know for next time.
When I entered, I sat down near the desk. After a couple moments, I was greeted and offered some tea by the lady at the front desk which I gladly accepted. It was delicious. I had come in for an express pedicure and I asked about adding an additional service of a foot scrub. The staff was very accommodating. Yoshi, my nail tech, did a fabulous job on my nails and cuticles. She took her time and did an outstanding job. She never hurried and made sure everything looked perfect. She was relaxed and comfortable to talk to as well.
I was able to try on a few colours on my hand to help me decide which polish to go with for my toes. I settled for a hot pink colour which I absolutely love!
I also wore flats to my appointment and regretted not wearing my flip flops. But Tao spa took care of that with their complimentary disposable flip flops which were exactly what I needed.
Overall, I am very satisfied with the customer service and professional care give by this spa. It will definitely be my go to place from now on for pedicures. I’m excited to explore their services further and am looking forward to my future mani/​pedis/​facials from here! :)

Great staff and location, good variety of services offered. Especially love the organic products. Unfortunately only 1 RMT massage therapist so difficult to book and treatment rooms are noisy so it‘s for difficult to relax. Otherwise it would be a nearly perfect spa!

Would love to give ZERO stars. What a horrible first impression, especially by the owner.

I had a gift card here and wanted to come and pick it up. I was with my little puppy and asked if I could come in with him just to the front desk to grab the GC. One of the employees said of course and even asked to pet the puppy.
I waited for a couple of minutes as the lady at the front desk (that has no business being there as she doesn’t know what she’s doing) took her time checking somone out.
A young woman came out from the backed to help the front desk and asked what I was there for without any smile or type of greeting. They searched for the GC and started moaning and growing that they don’t give cash back if I purchase something (which they already told me they would do on the phone!) They made a fuss, and then had the nerve to snarl at my dog and say that I can’t be in there with him even though an employee gladly welcomed me and my pooch.
First impressions are HUGE! For this rude, grumpy woman who turned out to be the owner to treat someone who had never been there before in that manner was disgusting. Complain about my 100 $ gc and complain that I was there with a puppy who sat at my feet was so innapropritat.
SO HAPPY TO NEVER RETURN AND GET MY CASH BACK! Too bad my dog didn’t pee on your floor!

I had a Father’s Day pedicure — that was a first for sure — and I really enjoyed it. Winnie’s conversation was engaging and the treatment was excellent. I can see why my wife, my mother and my mother-​in-​law all spend a significant percentage of their disposable income in this spa.

* UPDATE* Today, I received in the mail 2 PAST DUE NOTICES of 112.00 each for the original $ 15.00 dollar ticket that the owner wrote down below «we had it removed» — Another lie, from the owner that continues outrageously harassing behavior against a first time client. Now, the erroneously sought after ticket bill is $ 224.00 dollars!!!
Email to us from Winnie: «Please find below the confirmation from Diamond Parking your cancellation of violation ticket #PA175934.
Please note that our parking stalls are to be used only when you are being serviced at the spa. After you and your partner left, I verified with my staff and our records indicated that your time had expired and another customer vehicle was scheduled to park after you. Our staff actually asked everyone in the spa before we issued the notice and parking ticket. (THIS IS A LIE, AS THEIR ARE 2 SPACES, NONE OF WHICH WERE BEING USED)
I have voided your ticket and also spoke to my receptionist to advise our clients of the parking requirements during confirmation calls, hopefully this will help minimize any future problems.

I called DPS Parking, and they confirmed that the ticket (tickets)! (How do we now have 2 tickets???) were NOT taken care of, and furthermore hung up the phone on me, as I tried providing the so-​called request from Winnie. MORE CLEAR PROOF OF THEIR MISMANAGEMENT THAT IS LEADING TO CLIENT’S STRESS.
The response here from the owner clearly demonstrates their annoyance and desire for continued malicious & condescending attitude.
The facts are:
1) As a first time client, I parked in the stall clearly marked for their business. There were no special instructions, no communication regarding unusual terms of parking.
2) There were 2 spots, only one in use (me) the entire time.
3) During the treatment, staff were writing a nasty note, and walked 3 blocks away (without any communication with the clients in the shop to place on my window to have my car ticketed and towed
4) The car is a rare, high end car that if towed could have caused considerable damage and likely end up in a lawsuit in court against this business, which they would have been liable. They were lucky I rescued my car before their enforcers got it on a truck.
5) When I saw the rudely worded note and a parking ticket on my car when returning to the clearly marked reserved space for me, I returned to the business to ask what happened and why they wrote a rude note to compel enforcers to ticket and tow me?
6) The staff including Winnie burst into an arrogant tirade about how this is my fault and I should have known better. They were offensive, rude, and unapologetic. This is how the react to their mistake.
7) There were no parking instructions, communication about parking, nothing. Just 2 spaces clearly marked with there business name.
8) They maliciously wrote a nasty note that ended up with a parking infraction (they are partnered with parking company) I will check to see if they get a commission from the private parking enforcement and write about that later.
9) She states that Steveston is busy. So what? They have 2 reserved spots and I was the only 1 car parked there the whole time.
10) All this scurrying around to offend a first time client was incredible and completely unacceptable.
11! As you can clearly see from the response «It’s unfortunate that you feel you were treated unfairly» is a gross statement from a person who doesn’t know what fair treatment is. This is just a veiled cleverly worded insult to me.
A simple apology for getting us targeted (a first time a paying customer, no less) for parking infractions was low brow on their part. What motivated them to do such a thing??? There were no other cars parking there.
The most poignant feature of this, is clear: Instead of providing professional communication, the owner continues to be unapologetic and defensive, even though they were clearly in the wrong. It’s clear to me as a first time paying client that the treatment was indeed malicious, unfair. They put everything into play, blamelessly, events that were extremely stressful to me.
They should hang a sign on the front door «THE CLIENT IS ALWAYS WRONG»

I had 60mins RMT massage by Amanda.
Pros: The massage feels was pretty good, kinda aching the next day but that’s ok.
Cons: The massage was shorter than stated time. 50−55mins tops. I wasn’t given much instructions of what I can do to clean myself up. My neck was really greasy after the massage. No shower here, it’s a extra $ 10 apparently. I dislike how the room was opened to air and you can hear people next door. They said no cellphone but someone’s cellphone was definitely ringing and the customer picked up and i heard her whole conversation.

Tao has expanded and now they offer body wraps. So. GOOD. I tried the mango body wrap yesterday; it’s for getting rid of dead skin cells and moisturizing the skin and it absolutely does its job. My technician (who’s name I’ve just now forgotten because I’m a jackass) was FANTASTIC. One word of advice, her finishing massage is strong so if you prefer a lighter touch, just let her know. If you’re like me, it’s perfect.
The procedure:
She started out with a scrub and the mask, one limb at a time, wrapping as she goes. After all your limbs are done, she checks that you’re okay with a tummy scrub, which I was (beware, those who are ticklish). Once all the scrubbing and masks were done, I was wrapped like a mummy (let her know if you’re claustrophobic), a towel was placed over my eyes and then she gave me a head massage for about 10 minutes. Absolute heaven.
Once I was cooked enough, she led me to their beautiful new shower area with the rainshower head. I wanted to live there.
After my shower came the moisturizer. It felt like a modified massage therapy treatment, just perfect, especially for my tight neck muscles.
I can’t wait to try the other 3 treatments!

Loved this place. It’s got a great ambiance — very relaxing. Staff were wonderful: friendly, competent, and you didn’t feel like they were rushing.

My first visit to Tao Day spa located in lovely Steveston village.
FIrst of all, I really appreciated their flexibility and openess to accept my expired gift certificate for my facial. Tao Day spa is a quaint little space that provides all spa services. I tried the AHA/​Paprika facial ($ 85 for an hour and 15 min) after consultation with Joy and it was exactly what I needed to bring some glow back to my skin after surviving winter. The spa uses the Eminence brand for their services which is and all organic skin care line.
Joy did a great job providing a relaxing spa experience. The hand and arm massage was so relaxing I’m sure I nodded off for a bit. The only possible down side to the experience would be that the room is open air so you do end up hearing conversations of people outside. Joy said she’d go outside and asks them to be quieter but it was ok.
I’ll definitely go back to the Tao Day spa if I’m in the area.
