I really enjoyed going here and skating for my first time since I was a kid. The lady at the desk helped me get the right size skates. The first pair didn’t fit so I got one size smaller and it worked good. I was glad that they had public skating at the time that I was there. I didn’t plan ahead but it worked out. The public skating while I was there was quite. There were only 3 people on the rink at any given time, which allowed me plenty of space for learning how to skate again. I caught on quickly and had a good time. For the price of rink time and ice skate rentals this is a good way to have some fun for not a lot of money. Skating on ice the Canadian way.

While not as nice as the cubby holes as Burnaby’s 8 rinks, noticed that lately they finally installed shelves all around the dressing room. Huge improvement, considering how small the dressing rooms are. At least they’re warmer here too.

Coast Hockey is a good group. The bar upstairs is decent. The ice quality depends on the day and time you play. Overall a good place. Dressing rooms are always kept clean. It’s the teams that leave them wet and messy.

I’ve been playing here for years now though I don’t have too many games here recently. They have 6 rinks in here all with names like«the igloo», «the coliseum» etc .(named after NHL rinks, though most of those rinks are gone now) and there is a bar upstairs called Stanleys. A pretty standard pub with beer specials and food. As far the the rinks go I’m not a fan, the ice is not very good, usually lots of ruts and pools of water(I understand with so many groups playing the ice never really has time to set and the icemen just flood it), the dressing rooms are quite small and the showers suck! You have to press the knob like every 10 seconds for the water to stay on. The hallways are also constructed poorly(don’t know if the guys who built it ever went to a rink before), they are so narrow and I’m not a big guy, if someone is coming towards you with your hockey bag and all you literally have to squeeze by. Compared to other rinks I’ve played in, Britannia, Minoru, The Oval, etc. this is one of my least favorites. The parking is not that great either, situated right across from the theatres, alot of the people going to the movies will also park on the side of the rink cuz there’s not enough parking on the movie side. Overall I wouldn’t play here but hey I’m not the one organizing so you go where the game is…

Great place for ice skating and tons of rinks. You can make a day of it and hit the movie theater next door.

I play most of my hockey games here and never really thought to Unilocal about it, so here goes. Compared to other arenas I play at(t-bird stadium, 8 rinks, Oval and community centres), this is my favourite. The parking spots are well spaced so you don’t have to worry about hitting other cars getting your gear in and out of the car. The locker rooms are generally clean and are a good size. There is a decent pub upstairs, the Thirsty Penguin I think. My gripe would be all the water in the dressing rooms. They need to have someone check on the amount of water spilling out from the shower area after a few games, it can be outright dangerous. At the very least it wastes a lot of space to change when you have a full roster for that game.

I don’t mind driving down from North Burnaby to South Richmond just for a session of stick and puck. The ice at the Richmond Ice Centre is worth it! Not only that, for a stick and puck session that lasts from 9am to 3pm, you’re paying under $ 10 and they clean the ice for you twice! — Certainly worth every dollar of yours. The ice centre also offers figure skating lessons and drop-in hockey among other activities. Cyclone Taylors is just a stone’s throw away(within the same building, actually) so if you’re in need of a new stick, skate sharpening or equipment, they’re there to help! Like all true Canadians, I encourage you to lace up and hit-up the ice rink. The Richmond Ice Centre is a great place to start.

Richmond Ice Centre is home to a lot of hockey players in Richmond, where they have hours opened up for those that love public skating and want to take their dates. They have six regulation rinks. And you can check out their public skating schedule. I used to come to play hockey in this rink years ago. I love dropping by to watch the more competitive hockey game between teams before movies start. In my opinion it’s a lot of fun to watch because these guys are playing the sport for the love of the game and you can feel the intensity.
