Hands down, their pandesal is really good. The adobo pandesal had generous amount of pork adobo and the bun is soft. I also tried the calamansi mamon and it tasted good, however, I was expecting it to be sponge like but found it to be dense like cupcake. The ensaymada and empanada were good but I’ve had better. I would definitely go back for their pandesal.

Best Filipino bakery! I’m from Seattle and I will drive up to Richmond just to buy their bread. Visited the bakery for the first time on Saturday and decided to come back Monday just because they were bomb like that took my Russian friend to this bakery and she now craves for their goods. HUGEFAN of their Spanish bread. I have a thing about bread with butter and sugar. It’s my go to snack when I want something sweet. Pandesal is delicious! It tastes just like the ones in the Philippines, especially when it’s warm. It’s like biting into a soft pillow with a touch of crunch. New item– calamansi muffin. Wow! The calamansi flavor is FRESH and REAL! It doesn’t taste like a flavoring or syrup. It’s like eating fresh picked calamansi. They have other items which are all delicious but I wanted to make sure I pointed out my favorites! Go give this place a try. Being a Seattleite, this place beats Valerio’s. Sorry… not really. Oh! Can’t forget about the owner, he is very nice and is more than happy to give samples of their products! I was full when I walked out the bakery. Haha. The breads are delicious the next day too. :)

I’ve only been here once while waiting for bus in the afternoon. Close to the train station. I had a craving for banana and mango roll. Very cheap bakery. I only had $ 5 on me, however, it went a long way. Lots of selection. Little English, however, it was an over all smooth transaction. Not the best pastries in town(I prefer Maxims)

Well folks, it’s the weekly edition of the paleo-faileo. Whenever you walk into a bakery, it’s never a good thing. If there’s one thing about cheat days, there are days when you do your cheat meal and it’s pretty satisfying. Then there are days when you stumble across something and it’s a double fail. There is nothing in ANY bakery that will pass the tests of diabetic friendly, clean eating, or paleo eating. Good thing I pounded the iron in the morning and was well on my way to meeting the protein macro for the day. I stumbled across this place on my way to Bob’s Subs — that was my original planned cheat meal. Well, I got seduced. Seduced by the pandesal and the bibingka. The pandesal was what I expected it to be. I got some for take out, and was eating it at Bob’s Subs. Then I did the unthinkable and unforgivable. I went back to this bakery and started talking to them more about the things that they had. Big mistake! I got introduced to the bibingka. A rice flour, sugar, egg, coconut milk, butter, etc, concoction that is evilly delicious. Gawd! The girl behind the counter told me that they sell two varieties. One was more traditional with salted duck eggs, and another variation with cheese. Whether it’s Filipino or Chinese, I do not like salted duck eggs. It’s utterly disgusting to me. I went for the cheese. Long story short. I’m coming back for that bibingka. It’s prepared in a banana leaf, and that banana leaf gives it another dimension of flavour. Love it. $ 4 tax in. Cash only. Super friendly staff, incredibly clean premises. Borderline 5 star review. Worth the paleo-faileo for the week.

Located in Brighouse Square, along the same side of the block as Bob’s Subs is Old Manila Bakery. The folks here are INCREDIBLY friendly and will walk you through any questions that you may have about their baked goods. Unfortunately, they seemed to have been cleaned out by the time I arrived, but I did manage to score a sweet(pun intended) deal for a half dozen pandesal($ 1). Seriously, the rolls at Safeway cost at least $ 0.50 alone, so that was awesome. Hopefully they’ll be more stocked next time I swing by!

Seeing that Goldilocks has become popular and jacked up their prices sky high I was in search of a more«respectably» priced Filipino bakery. I happened upon this little bakery walking in the plaza and decided to give it a try. It was mid day and their shelves looked half stocked if not less, maybe they were sold out of many items or they just didn’t produce many to begin with. Pricing for their breads were around reasonable $ 2 – 4 for a loaf or pieces of 6(hot cross bun style) of Pan de Sal which was very soft and fresh. Tried a coconut cake Bibingka which was around $ 3.40 which was very pricey but tried one anyway. It’s a dessert style coconut cake, moist and fresh as well. Staff was very friendly and approachable. They took the time to explain some unfamiliar items to us.
