I’ve been climbing for 10 months now. I started here, and I am continuing here. This gym is like my second home! Great facility though not the best, but it is cheaper than the others so they did try to compensate. Like the others have mentioned, this is not a great place if you love climbing routes, but it is excellent for bouldering. Either way, this place is solid.

So I’ve been trying out this whole rock climbing thing for a few months now, and it’s safe to say I’m addicted! So the great thing about rock climbing is, it’s great exercise, and it’s sooooo much more fun than going to the gym. You end up getting a great workout without even realizing it. I’ve been to this location and the one in Coquitlam. They both have their pros and con, but I’ll just focus on the Richmond location here. The biggest downside here is it’s a smaller gym, so there aren’t a lot of routes to go climbing. However, if bouldering is your thing, this place is great! There are tons of interesting bouldering routes throughout the gym with a wide range of difficulties. My favourite part is «The Cave» tucked away in the front of the gym. With the exception of the odd Sunday kids birthday party, this place doesn’t get too busy, so you can get onto a lot of routes and problems easily. The staff is helpful and very friendly and they offer a few courses if you’re looking to get into climbing. If you’re looking for something to do to keep busy during the wet winter months and get some exercise, this is a great place to do it.

Cool staff, cool place. Excellent for beginners because it is not very busy!

I am new to the climbing scene, but I enjoy climbing here because there’s parking and it’s not as busy as some of the other gyms. It may not have as many routes as some other bigger gyms, but it weighs out because I don’t have to wait in line to climb a route! You can come here just to boulder and build strength, but I recommend coming with a partner so you can belay one another. The staff are really helpful and can get you oriented and set up if you need a refresher or a crash course for climbing!

I hate exercise. It’s boring. It’s painful. I don’t do it. Imagine my surprise when I discovered a way to build muscle while having fun. Saweeeeet! So last night was my second time visiting Cliffhanger in RIchmond. Being a newbie to climbing, I don’t have experience with other gyms, but I will say that my experience here has been fantabulous. The staff are über helpful and friendly and the variety of climbs is great! My sister, bf and I are all at different levels of ability yet we can all find climbs that challenge us. It’s a blast, minus my sudden need to wear Depends when I reach the top of a climb(heights aren’t my forte, but I will conquer this fear!). My favourite part about this gym is the location; it’s tucked away in a quiet industrial neighborhood in Richmond behind the IKEA. It’s such a great place to steal away to at night, with a virtually empty parking lot and only a handful of climbers inside. No waits for walls and loads of non-boring exercise! Any climbers out there?
