I hired Bekins to do a move because I had used them before. It was two days of hell and the biggest mistake of my life. The move started to go sideways when the driver showed up an hour and 20 minutes late on Sept 30. Moving in and out of high rises comes with time limits. This ate up almost half my 3 hour move window for the elevator booking between 8 am and 11 am. When the driver showed up he was alone — no helpers. I ended up grabbing a dolly and helping move boxes. Repeated calls to the Bekins office did result in extra labour eventually coming to help. But that wasn’t until 11 am — at which time my move was scheduled to be over. At 3 pm — almost six hours after we started(and seven hours after we were supposed to start) — we were done. I thought at least this horrible experience courtesy of Bekins was over. It had to get better. It got worse. The next day delivery and unpacking was an even bigger disaster. Once again the driver was late, this time about an hour. Instead of 9 a.m. he showed up at 10 a.m., and once again, no labour. After many calls this time I was lucky enough to connect with GM in Vancouver — and then the GM in Victoria — who both took action. Unfortunately, the help only arrived in the afternoon –between 1 pm and 2 pm. Let’s remember this was for a move scheduled to take place at 9 am. I do not want to forget to mention the high, pot-reeking, argumentative labourer who complained about how things were done, accomplished very little, and then complained about me in front of my wife. So the move that was supposed to happen from 9 am to noon took from 10 a.m. until just after 5 p.m. A gruelling 7-hour move for a two-bedroom apartment. I asked for a 20% discount — But Bekins thinks they should be charging full price for this level of service. If you want to pay full price for horrible service, give Bekins a call and get ripped off. But if you want a professional move, call anyone else. You can read all the details at
