Excellent customer service and as good selection as in the bigger centres. Easy to find sections.

Came here Saturday during the lovely snowfall(not very lovely at all!). Since it looked like Christmas outside(even thought it was Nov 2nd) I decided this would be a perfect time to purchase Christmas cards. I got 2 boxes of very cute Papyrus Christmas cards(sparkles and colourful!). Each pack had 16 for $ 20.75. They gave a little discount at the register, something like $ 5 off when you buy 2 boxes. I actually need one more box, I will return next week and get a box of smaller cards, Papyrus of course! They are my fav! Got some yummy Starbucks, the line is always super long here, but shopped a bit then got our drinks. Also picked up 2 packs of the cutest book marks for my fiancé, a little Peanuts(Snoopy) holiday book and a onesie for my niece-2-be, it is really cute, all white and says«Little Sister» in pink. Great location and I always love my Chapters :)

This is my favorite bookstore in THEWORLD. When I visit Red Deer, one of the first things I do is get an Iced Coffee from Starbucks and browse through the fiction section(afterwards I go to the pet store to look at kittens). This is the most relaxed big box bookstores I’ve been to… it’s not loud and crowded like the ones I’m used to. You can actually sit and read the first chapter of a book if you want and no one hassles you about it. The employees have really good suggestions if I don’t really know what I want. Love this store! Keep up the good work!

For the most part, I enjoy this Chapters location. It is clean, has a good selection of books and the staff is helpful and cheerful. I’ll admit, I’ve had both an extremely good and also a poor experience at this location. The good — I special ordered a book which had not arrived by it’s stated date. When I went in, they re-ordered immediately and the book was in within a couple of days. In fact, the first book had showed up much later, which I had received a call on. Diligence! The bad — I was looking for a particular type of book for my kiddo. When I made the inquiry, I was told that they stopped making these books and will only be able to find them in used bookstores. NOTTRUE!!! A quick internet search at home and they are very much producing them! In fact, my search let me know that Chapters carries these books!!! Very disappointed at that. If you don’t know, tell me you don’t know. Regardless, one disappointing(and minor) encounter won’t keep me from going again. Unilocal 30 Day Challenge: 12⁄30

Once again, I find that I like the box stores in Red Deer way more than the ones in Edmonton. They’re just less crowded and less busy and less fussy. There’s as much of a small town vibe as one can expect out of a faceless, monstrous, anonymous giant retail construct. In any case, I don’t feel as rushed or as crowded in or in danger of trampling ankle biters. The people who ask if I need help appear to be sincere about it and happy to be asking. They tend to watch the line up-front and get more cashiers on as appropriate. They also seem to try harder to fix things, find things and get things. Maybe it’s because I’m not in any rush when I’m visiting family in Red Deer instead of being in the rush of my life in the City, but I find this to be a kinder, gentler Chapters.
