The fact that this review is based on a take-out order must be considered. Being from Montréal, the first indication that this is not a true smoked meat joint is the fact that there was no option for lean, medium or fat cuts. Secondly, upon requesting a plate rather than a sandwich although the answer was yes, yes yes I ended up receiving a sandwich. While on the sandwich topic, the bread is definitely not up to par for a smoked meat sandwich, tastes is more like toast rather than tie bread. While on the topic of sides and accessories, the fries and coleslaw were highly mediocre. Regarding the main topic of interest, the meet, flavor wise it was slightly bland. Since I am used to choosing the fattiness of my meet, and preferring a medium cut, I found The meat to be slightly dry. This may all be affected by the fact that it was a take-out order eaten 15 minutes following delivery at the restaurant. In conclusion, the place seems quite cool. I’ll be else and music was pleasant while waiting for my order. What I go back? If this was in Montréal and compared to the offerings in that city, No. But if I was in Quebec city and had a craving for smoked meat, I think this will be the place I would go back to. However, it’s not the place that’s going to make me crave smoked meat.

Great smoked meat with pleasant waitress serving. We ordered a large smoked meat for one and a smoked salmon salad and also a chicken sandwich. Stick with the smoked meat!!, The salad was limp, the tomatoes overripe and this was THE worst sandwich I have ever seen in my life! There were four pieces of smoked meat in the salad… and the rest was inedible. The chicken sandwich had two very small pieces of chicken and crushed olives with feta cheese which made the sandwich soggy. The fries were reheated for sure. A dismal meal which cost us $ 78… We drank water only. BUT the smoked meat was really good, we all tasted it and regretted not ordering it. I really hate dissing a restaurant, but how else can they improve?

I like this restaurant, it has great prices and good-average food. I liked my service and atmosphere. Although, don’t order their espresso… it almost tastes like Tim Horton’s espresso.

Pleasant surprise on a bone-chilling December night. We stopped by for a drink but were quickly seduced by delicious smells to partake of a sumptuous meal of pea soup and smoked meat sandwiches. Heavenly delight! The place was cozy, with a few customers, the frozen harbor outside, the city buried in snow. I would come back to QC in the midst of winter just to relive the atmosphere of that wonderful evening. Highly recommended!

My husband had a yen for smoked meat and this place fit the bill perfectly. We sat out on the terrace so the ambiance was nice. My greek salad was not particularly good — the lettuce was not well washed and the salad was mostly tomatoes. The white sangria was wonderful.

You can walk right past this place if you weren’t looking for it because it’s on the second floor above street level. Upon entering the doors you can smell the heavenly meat aromas. I tried their sandwich and it was STUFFED with sliced meat and served with a pickle. Pickles are super duper sour so brace yourself. Meat is tender and juicy. I would really appreciate it if they gave me a wet nap though.

First, about the place… very friendly wait staff, simple but complete menu(available on their web site), clean, family-friendly, no problems with being there at all. The food arrived hot and fresh at the table. As for the food, this was the first time I’ve ever had Montréal-style smoked meat. It was hand-sliced, as it should be, and it was definitely good. If you’re familiar with corned beef and pastrami, and you’re curious about smoked meat, you should definitely check this place out. If you’re expecting something like corned beef or pastrami, well… consider smoked meat to be the cousin who speaks another language and was raised in another part of the world. It’s still made from brisket, the same cut of beef, and it looks like corned beef, but it definitely tastes different. My only complaint: all they had was yellow mustard. Good meat like this deserves a spicy deli-style mustard, and while a dijon would be an improvement over yellow mustard, the deli-style is really the best way to go. Of course, having no mustard is a huge improvement over yellow mustard, but that’s another story. All in all, a very positive experience, and I’d go back anytime.
