Such a lovely local bakery! Sandwiches are a bit expensive side compare with the US price, but I was quickly convinced that they are worth the price. Very good breads and yummy fillings. Chills(both meat and vegetarian) are amazing too. The service is great, more over great café au lait! This place made my stays in Quebec so happy!!!

While in Quebec we were here every day because we loved it. Wonderful croissants, great coffee, delightful service, creative and cozy café atmosphere. Their lunch sandwiches yummy too. If you are going into the Old Town you won’t find much for good food, it’s over priced tourist-trappy average food. This is the hidden gem.

I was so glad we stumbled into this small café for lunch. It was a colder, rainy summer day and I went for the chili soup con carne. My boyfriend had the curry chicken sandwich. The chili is actually a bit sweet. They cook the meat with sugar to give it a touch of sweetness, which I loved! The bread it came with was excellent. The curry chicken was good as well, but nothing exceptional. The only thing that would make this place better would be if they had two people working. It was extremely slow service because there was a rush of customers with only one girl taking orders, preparing the food, and serving. I would definitely come back for the chili!!!

Best coffee so far in Canada(and USA). Virginie provided a great service and gave couple of advises on what to do and what to see in Old Quebec. All of her recommendations were really good. Great atmosphere. We’ll come again for sure when in town.

I visited Baguette & Cie after reading reviews by other Unilocalers… Unfortunately I visited at 2:15pm, well after their lunch rush, which means that there was literally no selection of sandwiches or pastry. I was forced to buy a turkey sandwich. It was good, nothing exceptional. Their vegetable soup was also good but nothing amazing. I definitely appreciate everything being made fresh and not being carried over to the next business day but when closing at 5pm you should be able to serve customers until 5pm. The service was very good and the place is cozy. I will definitely be back in an attempt to experience what others already have. And yeah, I know, i’ll go there earlier in the day!

I was in the Farmer’s Market across the street asking for recommendations when the Ice Wine lady recommended Baguette & Cie. Baguette & Cie is a pretty small shop with sandwiches, soups, breads, and coffee. The sandwiches are actually made in advance and are in the cold area. I ordered the lentil soup and grabbed a chicken curry sandwich. Unlike the states, the soup is perfectly salted(you can argue compared to an American palate disposition, maybe a little less salt than usual) served with two pieces of flax seed bread. The curry sandwich actually had quite a bit of chicken also with flax bread. Baguette & Cie gets crowded, so I recommend you come there when they open. And of course if you ask, ‘Parlez-vous anglais’, they will say yes :)

I had a combo of soup, muffin, and coffee or tea. I chose the vegetable soup and a pear and chocolate muffin along with hot tea. It also came with bread and croutons for the soup. Service was very friendly. The girl working explained that they make everything from scratch in house except for the bread. Everything I had was good. I liked that the soup wasn’t super salty like tends to happen many places. I brought half of the pear and chocolate muffin to share with my husband after he finished his work that day and he devoured it and talked about the muffin for days afterwards so if you are a muffin fan, I’d recommend giving theirs a try.

Tasty fresh pastries — I especially liked the chocolate croissant. Near the old market. I came to Quebec to 1. see the European architecture and 2. sample good pastries so I hope I know what I am talking about. The service was also very nice and friendly(even though we can’t speak French for jack). They do take Visa and Mastercard, so no need to go to the ATM before(although there is a 10% charge)…
