Well, this used to be my fave Thai place but something has changed.(owners?). Last couple times here the service was not good at all as well as the food changing and portions becoming a smaller. The customer service is poor when there is an issue, the cooks will even come out and argue with you instead of making the food correctly the way you had asked. Will not be going back after this last horrible experience. Glad there is a new thai restaurant that has opened up.

This place has gotten better. Their pad Thai used to be gross and now it’s right up there with some of the best. But for $ 12 you get a1 cupish serving size of yellow«curry» which is as thin as soup. A few pieces of chicken floating in it. And no peppers or onions like other places just potato. And rice doesn’t come with it that’s another $ 3. Who said this place is cheap? I will say the spring rolls were very good and tasted home made and the portion of the pad Thai was HuGE. I don’t know who could say the portion was small. I seriously had it for a dinner the stuffed me twice and I could have probably split it into 3 meals. I say this place is hit or miss.

I am a huge believer in second chances and with this restaurant, I even gave them a third chance. Every single time I have ordered delivery from this restaurant, they have completely messed up. 1) I ordered only to be told delivery was available and then when my meal didn’t arrive an hour later, was told delivery was no longer available and ended up having to pick up my food which by that point was completely cold. 2) Ordered delivery only to have it AGAIN not turn up only to be told the delivery driver was lost. What restaurant doesn’t give their delivery driver a GPS? I only live 3 blocks from the restaurant. 3) Two nights ago I ordered my food and after over an hour of waiting i called them. The delivery driver apparently tried to deliver it but the girl behind the counter got my buzzer number AND my cell number wrong so they couldn’t deliver. They finally delivered it an hour and a half later, COLD and when I opened the bag they FORGOTTHERICE! So the delivery driver went back and got it and when he turned up he just laughed. Not once did I receive an apology and in the end the food was just average. Service is everything, and maybe my experience would be better if I went into the restaurant and ate there but if you offer delivery, you should be at a decent standard. Never going back there again.

This used to be out go to Thai. The Tom Kha Gai was the best we had and their yellow curry was phenomenal. Unfortunately something has changed. Out past 2 visits were not as good. Not bad. Just not as good.

Came here thinking it was good food after seeing so many good reviews. Didn’t come close to how good Thai food should be. Their«Thai» level of spice wasn’t spicy in any shape or form and they messed up my order. Staff is very friendly tho. Good customer service despite the mix up

Screwed up every possible aspect of our experience: 1) was rudely told on the phone that there was no delivery as the driver wasn’t working tonight, and was hung up on 2) had to call back so I could order 3) was ignored at order pickup until kitchen staff finally had to help 4) overheard a staff member telling a guy who turned out to be the DELIVERYDRIVER that they were pretty busy so she didnt call him for some deliveries… WOW5) got home, the order they told me was in the bag was wrong. Amazing experience — wont be returning to a business that doesn’t give a damn about customers. Doubt they’ll still be in business in a year.

Great little thai place along the main strip of central Port Coquitlam. It’s neat and tidy inside with about seating for 18. There is a large window that opens into the kitchen and you can see the lovely ladies cooking away. The food is quite tasty. I didn’t find it too sugary as another Unilocaler commented. The green curry had a nice, slow burn. Very creamy, lots of veggies and chicken. No skimping here. Lovely! The pad thai was flavourful with a good combination of sweetness and spice. The noodles were a tad overcooked, but it wasn’t too bad and still extremely enjoyable. The portions were average but it’s because I am a big eater! They have lovely daily lunch($ 7.99) and dinner($ 11.99) specials that include a spring roll, rice, and salad with any meal. I’ll be back again for sure. Tip: For those local folks, there is free delivery within 5KM if you spend over $ 29. Cash, credit, or debit.

I came here today because I had a craving for Tom Kha soup and didn’t feel like going to burnaby… I thought I should give it a shot, the reviews of this place are pretty good(especially with regards to the soup). This was by far the worst Tom kha I have ever had. It made me believe that those who said it was good have probably never had GOOD thai in their life! I do not recommend this place! It was horrible. I can’t speak for the service as I got my soup and left!

Yummy little hole in the wall. I’ve been here with coworkers a few times and have enjoyed the curries and pad thai. Was a bit disappointed that they didnt havr bananas for the fried banana and icecream dessert. Small place(seats about 12 max) and it was full around noon. Not much ambiance to note, but they keep the glass doors retracted so you can walk in fron the sidewalk, giving it a very casual feel.

I went for lunch with a coworker. Ordered off the lunch menu… Reasonable at 7.99… Food arrived quick, presentation was very nice, food tasted very fresh. I asked for medium mild and they nailed it. I will definitely go back for lunch.

I love this little Thai restaurant! Husband and wife business, they were friendly and give good service. Foods presentation and taste was always perfect with very reasonable price. They have good lunch combos as well. And if you’re not to stuffed, try their mango sticky rice for dessert! Yummy! I’ve been coming here almost once every month for a year now. :)

Very tasty food. Took me back to when my wife and I went to Thailand for our honeymoon many years back. Very nice interior but I’m sure it gets busy as they only have a few tables. Kitchen is visible from the eating area. It is clean and organized. I’ll be back.

Recently had take out from this Thai resto and felt it deserved a review because the customer service was outstanding, 5⁄5 stars to be honest. The food did not blow me away due to the Pad Thai not having that much of a «Punch» from what I would make at home(and no I’m not from Thailand) ‚ I would say 3.5÷5 stars for the Food however it was Good don’t let me mislead you because I would definitely come back again, possibly for a Lunch Special. Downtown Port Coquitlam definitely needs diversity in its Asian cuisine and I’m glad this place is here. Try the soups, they are delicious! Thank You.

Hubby and I were heading to our favourite phở spot(see review on Phở Phu Thinh), when we discovered they were closed for the week. Of course it was Unilocal to the rescue! We drove down lougheed and turned down shaugnessy, and found this little joint(next to the Giggledam theatre) . It’s a very cute hole-in-the-wall with amazing food!!! We had the dinner special $ 10.99 for green curry, rice, salad, and a huge spring roll, and the pad thai and it was as perfect as the service. We discovered a new favourite spot! Most affordable Thai restaurant we’ve been to since Thai Bird in Amsterdam! Try it – you won’t be disappointed.

I don’t like to give poor reviews to small restaurants, because I feel bad if they are struggling already, but it’s clear to me that most people like this place and their food, so they will be fine with a little criticism. Besides, I seem to be the ONLY person who wasn’t impressed with the food. I have only been to Tip Thai once, and I had a mediocre experience as far as ambience and service. It was average, good enough, pleasant. Food prices are fair and the place is clean and well organized. Why only 2 stars, then? Sugar! Holy sugar. We had pad Thai and a curry dish and both tasted like they were marinated in simple syrup! I love sweet food, so this means they really overdid it because it was wayyyy too much. I felt sick after eating it and we both felt lethargic and dizzy. The curry was also the consistency of a glass of milk. Watery and bland. To be frank, the flavors were not very exciting. Sorry, Tip Thai, I will not be returning, but you have a loyal fan base and people clearly love your food. Maybe I came on a day when the chef was off, or maybe I just don’t like sugar that much.

Great little spot to eat! Went here with my girlfriend and had one of their $ 6.99 lunch specials. She had the Green Curry and I had Pad NamPrik Pao. Both were –excellent– in quality, just the right portion size and served quickly. The best Thai food in Coquitlam or PoCo, and amazingly, the cheapest also. The restaurant is small — maybe eight tables or so. About the size of a coffee shop. Staff were very quick and friendly and nothing on the menu was expensive — virtually everything was under ten bucks. Will go again!

Never judge a book by its cover? Would you judge a restaurant by its façade? Of course you would. Who would go to a restaurant that doesn’t look appealing from the outside for the first time? Restaurants invest in experience, so you’ll leave telling your friends how good the food was. In reality, it was the décor that attracted you to explore, and bravely step inside. Tip Thai, a restaurant that I would so easily pass by on a daily basis. The truth of the matter is, I do pass by Shaughnessy Street every single day. That is on route to where Nancy lives. So I have passed by this restaurant at least 200 times, and not one time was I enticed to go in. So how did I end up at this restaurant? Out of the blue my friend mentioned that this restaurant is extremely good, and we should go try it. Being the adventurous person that I am, I drove to where the address was. To my surprise, I missed it until Nancy has pointed it out… Tip Thai is located downtown Port Coquitlam on 2606 Shaughnessy St cross McAllister Ave; it is kiddie corner to the city hall. This Thai restaurant opened about 6 months ago. It is a hidden gem! Seating max of about 15 people it offers exceptional food and would put up a tough competition to some of Vancouver’s finest such as Maenam in Kits, Simply Thai in Yaletown, and even the Tropika, Pink Thai and Thai House in Downtown Vancouver. This cozy restaurant is opened by husband and wife duo Alex and Penny. Chef Ning(came from Thailand 2 years) and her sous chef cooks up a mean curry! There is a wide variety of items on the menu and daily lunch /dinner specials are reasonably priced. Eat in, Take out, Catering are all available choices. Shrimp Cakes $ 6.95 4 pieces of finely minced shrimp is blended with Thai curry paste, green beans kaffir lime and served with plum sauce. The generous portion of delicious seasoned and sharp tasting shrimp cakes is not to be missed. Breaded and fried just right. Red Curry with Chicken(dinner special $ 9.99) Comes with salad, rice and spring roll This red curry in coconut milk with pumpkin is delicious. The fiery spice blends well with hearty pumpkins. Such a warming dish that I couldn’t resist drinking the remaining sauces. Tom Kha Kai Sm $ 4.95 | Lg $ 7.95 Think Tom Yum Kung with coconut milk! Sliced chicken in coconut milk soup with mushroom, cilantro flavoured with galangal kaffir-lime and lemongrass leafs. For 2 person get a large, its good for about 2 small bowls each. Anything less and you’d be trying to steal your neighbours! Pad Eggplant with Basil $ 9.95 Stir fried eggplants with Thai basil. Sweet and spicy, fiery and fragrant with Thai basil. The eggplants and the beef completely absorb the sauce. I like how the eggplants are still dense and not completely mushed. Mango Sticky Rice Khao Niaow Ma Muang is a sinful classic Thai dessert. So very scrumptious and fragrant of coconut milk. Sweet mango for a healthy indulgence! **Your choice of chicken, beef or tofu for all curry and entrees dishes. Next time I really want to try the Seafood Salad with steamed prawn and Basa filet with green tomatoes cilantro in a chilli lime dressing and green lettuce Tilapia 3 spice sauce Panang curry Pad Kra-Pao — stir fired spicy garlic sauce with onion bell peppers and basil leaf Fried Banana for dessert Most people would have to think twice before venturing into PoCo(unless you are local). But it would be a shame if there isn’t more buzz or somehow doesn’t draw in more traffic. It deserves attention and I could eat here for lunch and dinner. Almost every day. Being so close to home, I can’t believe I hadn’t discovered this sooner.

Alright, it’s time for an update on my new favourite neighborhood spot. I believe I’ve been here four times or five times now. Each time I’ve tried something different. The good news, the food is good if not great. Their pad Thai is their best dish out of all of them I’ve tried. In terms of entrees I’ve only had the BBQ chicken and it was fantastic. I just had the yellow curry today and it really hit the spot. It’s a bit spicy so be prepared. Pad se ew was alright but the portions looked a bit small. I’ve tried their tip Thai fried rice and another fried rice, both were ok, not great. Felt like it was lacking something. Rice portions also felt much smaller versus the lunch I had the first time I was here. Ok, here’s my criticism and it’s constructive cause I want this place to be great and succeed. The menu needs some additions in terms of sides for entrees and curries. For example, for dinner menus it would be better to include a rice and salad for all your entrees. Paying 10 bucks for an entrée without rice could be a major turn off for new customers. That is the same for the curry, rice should be included. I truly believe that this will increase the value and really bring out the customers to eat here more often. This is especially for the big eaters, if they saw the BBQ chicken and that was it, people definitely would not come back. That being said, the staff here are super friendly, the chef says hi every time and I’ll still be coming here for my take out.
