Vertical Reality

This is defiantly one of the top climbing gyms in Canada if not, the world. I have climbed at about 12 other gyms and sill I keep coming back to this one as the best. I feel this is due to the variety of routes and the differences in route setters they have routes that work on foot work or even climbing where the strength is needed in your left hand.
The top roping has routes for all levels of abilities and the super friendly staff will always make sure you are safe.
The lead climbing is fantastic it is about 3 stories high and has a huge range of difficulties.
There are 5 different bouldering areas and these again have a huge range of difficulties and allow the beginner all the way up to the super advanced a challenge.
The major thing I have found I like about VR in particular is everyone who is climbing is friendly, Wither you speak French or English there is always someone there to talk to you and give you some great tips on how to climb a bit better next time
$ 20 for the fist time climbing which includes a harness, climbing shoes, helmet, belay device, a safety lesson and an unlimited pass for the day. what an awesome time to spend the evening
If you go climbing after 9pm during the week your day pass is only 6 dollars!

Vertical Reality can be a pain to find if you don’t have GPS or if you’re not paying attention. From the Ottawa side, turn onto the bridge by the Canadian War Museum towards Gatineau. Pay attention or you’ll pass it! There’s a street that you can turn onto with a red building on the bridge, make that turn!!!
There’s lots of parking here and VR is in a large older multi story building which means some decent climbing routes.
First timers have to sign a waiver and are given a short course which you must pass to climb here. Vertical Reality offers rentals on all equipment that you may want but you’re always welcome to bring your own equipment.
Vertical has bouldering, training walls, climbing and lead climbing available. They have beginner and more advanced walls for people to climb. There are a few bouldering caves/​rooms and they change up the routes every few months. The facilities are pretty clean and the staff have always been really friendly to me.
I prefer coming here after 9pm as they offer $ 5 climbing for the rest of the night. I pop on the ipod and boulder for a bit and work on some footwork during this time. Great way to end a night after a stressful day.
I believe the place specializes in lead climbing which you need to pass a test for but you can have fun bouldering or climbing with a friend.
