Venus Envy was started in Halifax in 1998 and in Ottawa in 2001 and sells sex toys, lube, condoms, massage oils, books, dvd’s and more! We have the best staff, a great selection of toys and books and a ton of information about sex, sexuality, puberty, parenting, health and gender. Brands include Lelo, Hitachi, We-​Vibe, Fun Factory, Aslan Leather, Form, Njoy, Swiss Navy, Sliquid, Kimono, and Skyn.

We host art shows, a book club, workshops, readings, book launches, support groups and other awesome community events.

Student and senior discounts, as well as discounts for those belonging to a variety of community groups including Planned Parenthood, The Ottawa Bears, Queer Mafia, POWER and ACO. Ask how your group can get discounts for it’s members!

Drop by for free pamphlets on anything from HIV prevention for youth to finding your g-​spot. Our mandate is to provide accessible and positive sex ed to our customers, folks attending our workshops and to community members, teachers, health professionals and social services agencies. Venus Envy was started in 1998 in Halifax and in 2001 in Ottawa. Both stores were opened to offer clients a sex positive shopping and learning atmosphere where they could explore their interests and desires in a supportive environment.

Meet the Business Owner

Shelley T.

Business Owner

Shelley Taylor founded Venus Envy in 1998 and has been creating and facilitating workshops and discussions around sexual and reproductive health ever since. With a background in adult education and a passion for sex ed, Shelley speaks out about sex any chance she gets. She has presented at a variety of places including conferences, high schools, universities, and private parties.
