I was told Tuesday night $ 2 tequila shots drew a crowd here so I went to see what all the hype was about. The person who recommended this place to me wasn’t kidding. I stopped in around 11 and by the time I left an hour later there was a line to get in. Not surprising considering I progressively started to feel like a sardine in the upstairs bar area between the hours of 11 and 12, which is why I left in the first place.(I can’t imagine what the dance floor downstairs must have been like.) Recognizing this place had weekend potential, I went back with a group on Saturday night and stood in line for about 20 minutes before we got in. This time, I actually made it down to the dance floor. The place was happening, as expected. The music was as solid as the bar service and the free shots they were handing out, but they desperately need someone to go around with a dry mop. And not just once. All night long. The floors were so wet, a hurricane may as well have passed through the joint. One girl nearly busted her ass on a set of stairs. Fortunately for her, I saved her from falling. Unfortunately for me, I had to get a referral for a shoe shine the next day. $ 5 cover to get in on Tuesday night; $ 9 on Saturday night. For what it’s worth, I’m not sure the $ 2 shots are really a «deal» considering they’re using Cazadores brand. Not the worst stuff in the world, but far from the best if you ask me.

My friends from Toronto wanted to come for a good time so I decided to take them bar hopping and end the night here. It was everyone’s first time at Junxion, including mine. First of all, there was a line up to get in around 1 a.m. When we finally get in, you’re asked to check in your coat. This is mandatory. I suppose they’re trying to keep the classy feel of the place. Once you enter there is a bar. I went on a Friday night and the bar was completely dead. I wasn’t sure if «this» place was where the party was supposed to be, so I felt a bit awkward and horrified walking in, especially with out of town guests. Turns out, if you go down the steps to your right, this is where the dance floor is. There is no sign or any kind of indication that you should go downstairs. Anyway, the place was pretty packed, but it was a lot smaller then it looked in pictures. Takes quite some time to get a drink, and the drinks are a lot more expensive, but that’s expected for a club like this. On a Friday night, they were playing a lot of techno/club music. I wasn’t sure how much I was feeling it, because I like music I can dance to. As soon as 1:30 a.m. hit, they started to play top 40’s club mixes– the music was SOGOOD. *Best club music I’ve heard in Ottawa!* I thought that they’d close at 2:00 a.m. but turns out they closed almost around 3:00 a. m, so this place is perfect for those who like to dance until the crack of dawn. There was a fight outside the club when I was trying to get in, and another fight inside the club, so I’m going to assume a lot of fights happen at Junxion. I would definitely come here again!

Went here on a Tuesday night for the famous and well-advertised«2 Dollar Tequila Night». Sounds amazing, right? Can’t beat those prices! So I put on my highest heels, ready to hit this place up with my friends, ready to take full advantage of what JunXion was offering up. First off, it’s smaller than I anticipated. You go downstairs to the club area to pay cover and DANCE. The dance floor is proportionately small but also has a raised area for people to get up and dance. And boy, did the people dance! But not who you might expect. It was like being smack dab in the middle of a Jersey Shore episode. The guys– huge, «gorilla juiceheads» are the ones up on the platforms, given’ ‘er and showing off their best dance moves like it ain’t no thang. Sure, some girls went up too but they were no match. It was a show in itself. The music is every top 40 song– remixed, and dub step. So things can get pretty crazy over there! The DJ was super approachable and nice. Even when he was in the middle of something he listened to my request and played it just a couple songs later! Great time right? Well, time to get drinks– the tequila. They are sold out and it’s only 11. You’re a bar/dance club and you’re advertising something– the least you could do is provide it/stock up for the big day. Another damper, a huge brawl broke out on the dance floor that caused glasses to shatter everywhere and everyone had to flee other areas of the club. I understand that fights happen but it went on waaaay longer than it needed to before anyone stepped in. Even after that, they never cleaned up the glass so we were dancing on shards. Didn’t stop me, I guess? Let’s just say, I won’t be rushing back but I’m not running away either. A lot of clubs have been in this building before(Helsinki, The Clarendon Club, etc.) but I think this place has the potential to stick around a while longer.
