**NOTE**: Closed for renovations from May 31st, 2010 to January 2nd, 2011. I used to love this place as a kid! It’s actually quite funny, though, because I can’t swim and I’m completely terrified of water, so you would think that a wave pool would be my worst nightmare. For some reason, I wasn’t so scared here. The waves get larger as you get deeper in the water, so it’s still fun to stay closer to the shallow end and still get some waves. They have these little floating mats and noodles and things so you won’t get swept away, but I must say that the amount of children there is probably more dangerous than the actual water. Any public pool has a certain. pee factor. I’m sorry, but there’s just no nice way to put it. This wave pool is ran by the City of Ottawa, which may lead some to assume that it’s somehow cleaner and safer, and overall better, but that might not be completely true. Although fun, the kids were always pretty packed together, probably only a couple feet apart, making it harder for lifeguards to see if someone’s in trouble. Although, I’m pretty confident that the many lifeguards do their job properly, especially because it’s a government facility. Keep in mind, this was all before the opening of Calypso Waterpark, so I’m sure this pool isn’t as packed as it used to be.
