Saint Paul University Residence & Conference Centre

I stayed here recently for a training course while in the Ottawa area.
First, this is a university residence located at Saint Paul University (SPU) in Ottawa. SPU is a small religious campus so the campus is about the size of a city block. There are students living in the same building as hotel guests. But including taxes and fees, it cost me about half of what the Hampton Inn was going to cost me — quality and finishes are not at the Hampton Inn level of quality, but very acceptable.
The campus is in a very residential area, with little in the area in terms of food and retail. The only restaurants were a vegetarian place, and a subway. We ended up making a run to the grocery store to stock up on breakfast foods.
My room consisted of two bedrooms, each with a double bed, television, and large desk. There is a kitchen area with a fridge, microwave, and a small table for two. The washroom was decent sized with an average sized standing shower. The soaps and shampoo were some generic brand, and were fine by my non-​metrosexual male tastes.
Currently the road out front is a one-​way on account of construction, so getting in and out can be a little tricky
I will repeat if I’m back in Ottawa.

These guys don’t know how set themselves up on
, and their mistake caused them to charge me double. But what caused them to not own up to their mistakes and treat us fairly was a simple lack of courtesy, laziness and disinterest. Fuck you too!

Before booking this, we searched everywhere for a night stay in Ottawa but because of the family long weekend and Winterlude I guess the sites were quoting us $ 170ish for the four of us. And those that were reasonable were quite far from Ottawa Centre
Not sure how I stumbled upon this but upon discovering booked it immediately. Did some research as well and was a bit unsure how this will turn out.
The checkin was easy and the students were helpful. So first this a student residence turned into a «hotel» if I can call one. The rooms were two bedrooms with 2 TVs and a small kitchenette with microwave, a fair size fridge and some closet space and sink. There was also a small gym and ice machine on our floor.
The beds were double size and a bit uncomfortable. The bathroom small and the shower smaller and compact. The towels smaller and the soaps not good quality. Glad we carried out own. (All of the hotel provided are equally bad)
For the price, I would take this room any day. They don’t even charge you tourism charges and taxes.
Really next to downtown and the canal. Lots of construction on going currently which makes it a pain to move.
