OWL Rafting on the Ottawa River offers daily rafting tours from mid-May through mid-September seasonally. Enjoy the Ride as OWL offers our guests a full day on the famous Rocher Fendu rapids. The 6-hour trip is complemented by a freshly grilled hearty BBQ meal aboard our Pontoon Boat that meets you after the last rapid for the return cruise to the OWL Resort. Family Raft Tours of a 4-hour duration, start further downstream, where your raft is guided down the gentler sections. This tour also joins our Pontoon Boat for a BBQ meal at the end of each trip. OWL’s 25 acre Lakeside Resort is the hub of all our activities. Come relax, stay overnight and take advantage of: sandy beachfront, kayaks, canoes, pedal boats, SUP’s, disk golf course and new pumptrack. We offer our guests overnight in rustic cabins, or waterfront campground.

History
Established in 1981.
OWL Rafting is a family run business. The business is a sister to Madawaska Kanu Centre started by Christa and Hermann Kerckhoff in 1972 and now run by their Daughter Claudia. OWL Rafting ran its first rafts down the Ottawa River in 1981, with Dirk Van Wijk bringing his guiding experience into the family run operation. The OWL experience is unique on the River as it finishes all of its trips with a delicious grilled lunch or dinner aboard our Pontoon Boats.
Dirk and Claudia were married in 1985 and took over the reins of both OWL and MKC in 1988. Both are very active in day to day operations year round.

Business Owner
Claudia and Dirk Van Wijk are the co-owners of OWL Rafting. During the summer season they have a hands on roll in the day to day operations.
During the off season they both pursue their passions of whitewater and cross country skiing. Together they have explored rivers on most continents, most recently in Bhutan. Claudia’s Whitewater Kayak Slalom background (10 x Canadian Champion and Bronze medalist at the World Championships) has taken her to the past 4 Olympics as an announcer at the Whitewater venue. At the 2010 Winter Olympics, Dirk took charge of Grooming and Course Preparation for all the Cross Country events.
