Mooney’s Bay Bistro

Delicious food, terribly dated and out-​dated décor.
The food here is delicious. The pizza, wings, and garlic bread are some of my favourites. Unfortunately, the tired and old décor distracts from the food. The restaurant always feels dark and dated. If it weren’t for this, it would be an even better restaurant!

I first discovered this hidden gem when my best friend lived down the road from it. She invited me to go out for dinner on a Tuesday night when they had half price pizza! I couldn’t resist the offer, even though I didn’t expect much. A good pizza is hard to find these days.
I walk into the restaurant and the atmosphere is slightly dated but fairly clean. The service was quick and efficient. We ordered the bistro special which says it comes with «Everything but the kitchen sink» When the pizza came I was so ever pleasantly surprised as it was generously topped with all sorts of veggies and meat (pepperoni, green & red peppers, onions, mushrooms, bacon, and pineapple. It had nice stringy mozzarella cheese as well as one of the best sauces I’ve ever eaten in Ottawa.
The best part of the experience? The price… A large pizza at half off for $ 12 … Split that with a friend and you’ve got half a pizza for $ 6! Talk about a great deal.
I’ve returned many times since that day, and have had just as excellent experiences.
They also have live piano music on Tuesday evenings FYI :)

This place has pretty good food and very nice waitresses. Unfortunately the food is very over priced for what you get, and their policies are odd. for example, they have a sign advertising half price pizza on Tuesday, yet when I went to pay for it they told me not on take out. the sign makes no mention of dine in only, and they were very rude. considering the okay food, I’d recommend you go elsewhere.
