History

Established in 1950.

Beginning as a single-​doctor practice, the McLeod Optometry Clinic was operated by the Patterson family, with Dr. R.W. Patterson performing the eye exams while his wife oversaw the running of the office and dispensary.

Due to a growing clientele, and changing downtown landscapes, the clinic moved locations in 1967, coming to its current location at 323 McLeod Street. The quaint 1920’s era house was converted to a clinic, allowing ample space to operate a fully functional clinic with an on-​site dispensary. The new location, on a quiet street in the heart of downtown Ottawa, allowed for accessibility from any point in the city, and eventually the opening of a second examination room, a visual field room, and a contact lens area.

Maintaining the warm, family atmosphere that our patients expect of the McLeod Optometry clinic, renovations have been made to include greater accessibility to our patients, an on-​site lab, and a spacious dispensary.

Meet the Business Owner

Business Owner

Dr. Thomas Noël joined the practice in 2005, then taking over the management of the clinic. Dr. Noël is the son of Dr. Léon-​Paul Noël, who is also a well-​known Pediatric Ophthalmologist. Dr. Noël Senior worked at the Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario for 20 years, before joining SUNY (State University of New York) as the program director of the Residency Program in Ophthalmology. In recent years the clinic has continued to thrive and grow, leading to a third examining room being added in 2011 to accommodate the arrival of a fourth optometrist, Dr. Annie Miccuci. The McLeod Optometry Clinic has established itself as a provider of exceptional eye care in the Ottawa area.
