The Lunenburg is shuttered. I rather liked this place so I’m hoping it somehow reopens it’s doors.

Very friendly staff and a good selection of beer. It’s also in a beautiful old building worth seeing.

25 craft beer, rum from all over the Caribbean, and a delicious menu. Not a bad way to start a business trip! Have eaten here on numerous occasions during my 4 weeks in Ottawa. Loved the Fish & Chips, the Lunenburger was awesome, and the Steak may have been the best I ever had. Don’t miss Mondays, $ 6 wings and $ 6 pints all night while you watch football and hockey! Can’t forget the outstanding bar service provided by George, Zena, Sarah and Kali… and thank you Steve for knowing your way around the kitchen. Almost like I never left the east coast! Cheers!

Wasn’t really looking forward to going here — the menu looked like run-of-the-mill pub food but everything was made to be a bit nicer than what you would normally get. It was all really delicious! I was impressed!

My main motivation in going here was to listen to my son’s band. Reading up on it(on Unilocal!) it sounded like we might luck out and get some great food too. It’s basically in the market area, but on the outskirts — and I’ve never noticed it before even though we’ve driven by it many times. Outside is cute and the inside only gets better. Lovely stone walls and wood tables — it’s a comfortable room for drinking beer and listening to bar bands.(How convenient for us as we were there to do both.) We ordered calamari, mussels, poppers and my son had a burger. The calamari was good, but our order was a bit overcooked, so a little rubbery. That was disappointing, but I’m going to assume that usually they get it right. All of the other food was fantastic — and the poppers were phenomenal with sort of a welsh-rarebit type of cheese filling. They also had a great assortment of beers. Undecided, order a flight of beers to get started. Had gone with intention of listening to one or two bands, ended up staying to closing. Would I return: Yes Would I recommend: Yes. This is being added to my very short list of places I’ll return to on a regular basis for food and drinks. When I say short — there’s only 2 other places on my list when it comes to beer and pub food. Loved it.

I’m come here every couple of months because my friends like to come here. I have to say, every time I come they are trying to implement something new to become better. I have never been to another privately owned bar that put in this much effort into their operations. Their menu has a pretty big variety compared to other bars even though its not that long. I went when there was a live band. 4 $ cover for the quality of band I saw? Definitely don’t find that everyday.

Another nice find in Ottawa. Too bad parking is challenging. Unique feel like being in a 200 year old stone house with low beamed ceilings and dark and cozy. Akin to an old Halifax pub. Has second floor too! Friendly staff unlike the Lieutenants pub. Pints start at $ 6. Food is good but limited menu(Manx has better food selection). Home made potato salad with the skins on… woohoo! They are big on coleslaw too. Pan fried fish was just ok. Salads are good. They have Wednesday evening open stage. Even a couple of tv screens for the hockey games. Apparently you should avoid late evenings on weekends as the place metamorphoses into a club. Two thumbs up.
