Local’s a great place for a casual night out, especially if you’re already in the area. The fact that the parking garage directs you where to park is helpful, especially in the winter months! I’ve gone to Local with a few different groups, and I’ve been satisfied every time. I appreciate the rotating tap concept, but frankly, I tend to indulge in wine. I know that one of the nights(maybe Wednesday?) they do a $ 4 glass of house wine. It was pretty tasty! The servers are always friendly, and the front staff do their best to check you in to a table as soon as possible. I rarely like small plates, but I find Local’s portions are easy to pair. I typically get two small plates and leave happily full. A favourite is the pulled pork poutine. I’ve also tried the calamari, which was quite flavourful. Every person I’ve gone with always raves about the tacos. The staff are quite knowledgable about the limited menu and are always keen to make a suggestion.

We came on Saturday for brunch. It was really good food, for a good price. Service was good too. I think the place should be good for dinner, supper, watching the game and anything else.

Been here a few times now when in the Lansdowne area. Their service is always amazing last night the hostesses were super helpfull with giving us a table with it being Grey cup night and all. We were a group of six, within a few minutes of various of us arriving, our waiter was there to great the new comers take their drink order. I finally tried the fish taco right now and it was delicious it tasted very fresh. I also tried some calamari that my friends ordered and they were perfectly cooked as well. Overall the prices are decent and the different drink specials everyday are awesome. It’s a decent place to stop by if your in the area before going to a movie.

Good and drinks are pretty good, service is really awful and expect to wait a long time to get seated. They don’t give you wait times or take down your phone number to call when your table is ready

Trendy, funky, eclectic in the centre of an awesome vibe at the newly renovated Lansdowne Park. Summer patio is awesome with cool sports themed tables and chairs. Plethora of tastey taps. I’ve only had the fish & chips but the beer battered fish portions are huge & yummy. Fries were meh. Worth trying at least once.

I crossed by Local the other day, was so excited about all the innovative games and design. I brought my friends to Local tonight with all the excitement. However, we were so so so disappointed about the servers and services here. It’s was cold in the patio, we saw several available tables inside, no lineup. We asked the servers to change the table. She told us to order more if we want to move inside(most of us still have 2⁄3 of our drinks at that time). We order more foods but still sat in the cold. Another server brought the food that we order, we asked for the bill, she pointed to the door and ask us to go there and pay. Wth? Overall the servers were not friendly at all(i still tipped her 20% for a really bad service though). But I will never come back! Ps: we order several cocktails, it’s so so nothing special but not too bad. Just bad services. And too many customers is not a reason to blame for bad service. Thanks for reading!

There’s a lot to recommend Local. The location at Lansdowne alone is a big bonus, and the summertime patio is so inviting. A great place to enjoy drinks with friends(the revolving series of local taps, the sweet daily deals), or to grab some grub. Their fish tacos are a little overstuffed with cabbage and tabouleh, but the fish portion is generous and the beer batter is great. I love the Jerk Chicken sandwich — and while it could be spicier, the bread it’s served on is fresh and delicious. I’m not a fan of their huevos rancheros, finding it a bit over-sauced, but they’ve got churros down to a science — fresh and flavourful. Honestly, Local COULD easily be a lot more trendy and pretentious than it is. As it stands, it’s a low-key place to enjoy quality food and a wide selection of drinks with friends… and at a reasonable price.

I so wanted to like this place. It’s really innovative/hippster-ish(for a chain) with bocce ball and ping pong on its patio. Unfortunately I was unable to enjoy either… Or even get a simple drink at this(using a nice word) place. I went with a few friends on the long weekend Sunday. First, we were denied a spot on the patio because it was going to rain. Easily acceptable reasoning, except skies were crystal clear that evening and there were other patrons legit playing a game of bocce ball outside… Strike 1 We then asked of we could grab a spot at the bar… Reasonable request right? Not for Local! That simple question was met with a swift ‘No, we’re full’… Excuse me? Strike 2 I have no idea why we didn’t leave right then and there but I guess we needed to see what all the fuss was about at this place. So, we asked if we could leave a cell # with the hostess and put ourselves on tge waiting list. Anyone want to guess what the Local hostess’ response was? That’s riiiiight, ‘No’. Not just a no, but a ‘No, we don’t do that, you can wait here’. Wow, rude much? Besides that, what new restaurant doesn’t text its customers on the waiting list nowadays? And there you have Strike 3. Next time I’m back in Ottawa, you better believe I’ll go out of my way to avoid this place. So for now, see you NEVER, local, #KeepingItPG

Came here to grab lunch. I ordered the wings, nothing special, but the wings were rather small. Nonetheless, I’m pretty sure there were enough to render a pound. Fish and chips — huge portion, batter was awesome, oily but delish. Jerk chicken sandwich — my friend said it was delish. Salad — my friend would have preferred less dressing. Beer selection was good. Service was alright, nothing special.

Breakfast fiasco. Worst eggs Benedict we’ve ever had! Over cooked, dried out, pinch of hollandaise sauce, and finally, stone cold. Complained to manager. Offered a $ 10 gift certificate. Said they make ALL their eggs B medium hard and didn’t care about the rest. Never again. Cost us over $ 30 and barely ate anything. We live in the Glebe and go to all the restaurants. Go elsewhere please.

I cannot say enough about this place. Food is great, service is wonderful, atmosphere is wicked! :) I tell everyone I know about this place. Been at least 20+ times since they’ve opened. They change up their menu lots, which is great. My two most favourite things on the menu right now are the breakfast veggie benny and the edamame.

Absolutely loved my first visit here. A) the salt is Himalayan pink salt. B) the serving size is quite lovely c) the price was super reasonable. I ordered the crispy chicken sandwich(after changing my mind a lot seeing different plates go by) and I don’t regret changing my order 5 times before we finally ordered. It was huge! And sandwiched on coleslaw and the usual burger fixens, I justified I was getting at least a serving of veggies with the sandwich alone. The rest of my crowd enjoyed their chosen items(poutine, veggie burger, brunch, tacos, yam fries, calamari which was the perfect seasoning and not too over cooked, and churros at the end). It was super busy with FIFA World Cup happening across the way so it was super busy making it hard to find a spot, bathroom lineups were unfortunately epically long, and one server was having a pretty unhappy day with us(but fortunately she wasn’t always taking care of us), and for those with little ones/strollers, not exactly easy to move around in there. But the food itself was amazing and I will definitely be back.

After seeing a movie at the new cinema(did the ‘VIP’ thing which was neat), the gang decided to grab a bite and try out one of the new restaurants at the new Landsdowne and we settled on Local Public Eatery. FOOD — SMALLMENU, GOODPORTIONS, TASTY! I wasn’t that hungry so I decided to keep it simple going for a fish taco and their ‘hand made’ guacamole. Well, the guacamole is described well… They have the server mix all the ingredients right in front of you. That’s the first time I’ve seen that and proves it isn’t coming out of a plastic pouch like a lot of other places. I have to say it was pretty decent. The fish taco I had as well was pretty good and a decent size. My friends decided to order burgers and while I didn’t taste them, they were quite a decent size and both were happy with their choices. SERVICE — NOCOMPLAINTS Service was decent and I can’t think of anything that didn’t go right. The server was good at refilling drinks and everything was brought promptly. ENVIRONMENT Local maybe isn’t the largest place I’ve been but it had a nice feel to it. Lots of light. A large bar if you go for drinking. Lots of stool style tables but not that many actual booths. Definitely seems a place for the younger(20 – 30) crowd. PARKING — THEYDON’T VALIDATE Just a head’s up if you are driving that Local Public Eatery doesn’t validate your parking. Also, if you plan on seeing a movie and grabbing a bite, while you may be able to get your parking validated at the movies(VIP gives it to you), validation is only good for 3 hours at the movies and you can’t double validate. So, you’ll likely have to pay something if you park in the garage. — — - All in all, I liked what I had and I would go back if I was in the neighbourhood. I look forward to trying their other menu items and stuff from the bar. (EDIT, 6÷24÷15) — NORESERVATIONS Just a small addition in that Local doesn’t take reservations. This of course isn’t the end of the world but something to keep in mind since it can make planning an outing there a bit more difficult.

This is my second time here and it was even better this time. Got there at 11 to watch the Manchester derby and have a beer. Carey(sp) was great recommended a beer and got me to try the steak and eggs. She was around enough but not in your face and always a smile on her face. Would recommend to anyone coming down to Landsdowne. Food, beer and good service

There are so many choices of great restaurants and I have 2 eight year old girls I’m trying to raise as strong confident woman. How can I explain their sandwich board quote? And why should I need to?

Great open space with historical decorations(motel sign, vintage seats), a couple of tvs, nice wooden tables, and comfortable stools. While the menu is not extensive, it has nice and tasty options that will meet most desires! The menu has several appetizers, burgers and sandwiches. There is also a week-end brunch menu. On my first visit, I tried the Brooklyn burger and it was great. Juicy patty, tasty onion rings, roquette greens in a mustard mayo, red pepper relish and cheddar. It comes with a bucket of thin, crispy fries(McDonald’s style). My friends had the plain burger and the crispy chicken sandwich and they loved it. There are also daily alcohol specials. A glass of beer from tap for $ 4 or a glass of wine for $ 7! What struck me the most on this first visit is the extremely friendly service! We had babies with us and they were very accommodating and got us baby chairs and installed them for us. A great new addition that stands out just from great execution!

I have eaten here three or four times now, in a small and larger groups. We have been impressed each time, and constantly place it in our«favorites» list. The food is high quality and everything is prepared in house, every day. Even the bread is baked in house! Too many favorites … so pick anything off the menu or let the staff help you, and enjoy. Great atmosphere which we are excited to experience once they open up the patio in the summer!

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed every moment of the experience. The food was excellent, had the Local Burger, and the the Pickled Red Onion was mind blowing. The serving staff was also super friendly and the place looks like what I would expect the inside of an old wood workers workshop to look. Rustic, warn and inviting. Their beer selection changes constantly, they only order a few kegs at a time and so the bar front can change daily.

Fun atmosphere, rustic industrial décor with great music and very relaxed(but efficient) wait staff make this a great stop if you are in the Lansdowne Park complex. Local serves *great* hamburgers, wonderful salads and lots of other food that, if it tastes half as good as it looks, must be delicious. We are still working our way through their hamburgers and salads.(The Ginger Chicken salad is fabulous.) In addition to all of the above, they have a nice selection of beer. What more could you ask for? One thing to note: We were there on day 3 of operations(they opened on 04Dec14). They were running flawlessly, which is amazing. If they can keep that kind of quality management up, Local is a great addition to the Lansdowne Park area. Would I return: Definitely. Would I recommend: Yes.
