If you didn’t know, LIDS is a retail store that litters every shopping mall across the country. This particular franchise is located in the south eastern corner of the mall, near the Bay and Sportschek. It’s a small location, but they managed to squeeze a lot of product into this corner island spot.
Officially licensed baseball caps are the store’s bread & butter. The majority of caps offered are Major League Baseball and Eastern Canadian National Hockey League Teams.
In addition to balls caps, they have a small selection of fedora-​type hats, branded toques for the winter, and brand labeled caps.
All of the LIDS stores I’ve seen offer custom embroidery, but this offering has always puzzled me — as they cannot alter officially licensed product. They sell blank hats in a rainbow of colors, but really: who wants that?
This is one of the few spots in Ottawa where I can pick up a Kangol hat, but they tend to be of the conservative/​oatmeal/​plain variety.
This LIDS gets three stars, as I have been tempted on more than a couple occasions with their $ 6 clearance hats. All of their clearance items seem to have the same price points: $ 6 — $ 12 — $ 18 — & $ 24.
