Very rude manager! Terrible experience. Really shocking. And the pizza was no great shakes.

This place smells awesome every time I walk by. I decided to give it a try. Me and my boyfriend got a margherita pizza to go. So disappointing. The dough was awesome and smoky tasting from the wood oven, I’ll give them that. The sauce was bland, it was weird it seriously had 0 flavor. The cheese also didn’t taste like anything. And to top it off, they used DRY basil flakes instead of fresh basil, I’ve never seen that on a margherita pizza before. The owner was really kind but man… 18 dollars for a half a pizza that literally tastes like nothing.

I have been curious about this place many times walking by, but hadnt checked it out(in part because of the reviews here). Oh why did I not trust the Unilocalers? When a flyer landed in my mailbox, and I realized they delivered, I thought hey, why not? I’ll tell you why not… After being told it would be 45 minutes to one hour for delivery… it was exactly 2 hours. I called after the one hour mark and was told they were really busy, my pizza was on its way soon. In other words, it hadnt left the building. I called just before the two hour mark, and was given an apology… after I asked for one. I was given a discount… after I asked for one. My pizza arrived shortly thereafter — not too hot at this point. Most of what has been written about their pizza is accurate. A sad waste of a wood burning oven, if you ask me. Having sad that, I was sooooo hungry when it arrived that it didnt taste THAT bad. Even the mooshy crust and tasteless tomato sauce seemed forgiveable at that point…

If flavourless sauce, flavourless cheese and crappy meats on terrible dough is the type of pizza you like then this place is for you! Nothing on this pizza tastes fresh and the dough seems under cooked. I’ve never been to a place that had a wood oven that undercooked their dough! In a city full of terrible pizza this place might be my least favourite…

Wood Fire doesn’t mean good. Frozen grocery store pizza is better than this. Thick burnt crust, scant toppings, mystery cheese. Misto salad was the mixed lettuce you get in a bag at the store, nothing else in it. They need Restaurant Make Over to visit them.

Forno Antico is most popular for their wood burning oven. That’s the one thing that sets it apart from other pizza joints around town. Now, while I agree that the taste of a pizza made in a wood burning oven is different, and that I may actually even prefer it, I don’t quite think Forno Antico’s pizza is as great as it’s made out to be. I find their pizza good, but lacking in flavor. They have great ingredients and are usually made well, but I feel like there’s something missing. Maybe I just had higher expectations because of all of the hype.

Forno Antico pizza is a nice treat but I’ve found the last couple of times their pizza hasn’t been cooked as well as I’d like. Some of the ingredients on top seem to be undercooked as well as the dough isn’t as crunchy as one would expect from a place with«Wood Burning» right in it’s name. I also can’t eat black olives and the last time I ordered delivery I requested the Primavera be made without them and when the pizza arrived I spent my meal picking them off. The restaurant itself is quite cute, although I’ve only ever taken out or ordered delivery. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area who likes good gourmet pizza but lately the quality seems to have slipped a bit.

Ryan’s review is right on the mark. Although I’m a big fan of wood oven pizza, Forno Antico is just plain not very good. The ingredients taste fresh out of a can, the sauce is unremarkable red paste, and I’ve never had wood oven pizza with such flabby and doughy crust. How can it not be thin and crispy? I thought that was the whole point of the wood oven?

Very friendly staff and owner, and the pizza is pretty good! Although I’m still looking for a wood oven pizzeria that tastes just like Italian pizza… No wine or beer was a bit of let down.

The pizza has a sensibility of it’s own– and the quality seems similar to a frozen pizza you’d pick up at a grocery store e.g. dr.öetker. A woodburning oven is a great gimmick, but improvements to freshness and quality of all ingredients(dough, sauce, cheese) is needed for this pizza to stand out above the rest.

During the warmer months(when you could open your car window without freezing your cheeks off) driving up and down Bronson Avenue was always dicey. The problem wasn’t the drivers(some of whom really should lose their licenses!) but the aroma in the air. It took my wife and I a few drives to track down the source of the wonderful fragrance — it is Forno Antico. This is a delightful wood-fire pizza restaurant — yes, they actually cook their pizzas in a wood fire oven, right near the front entrance. It smells AWESOME!!! The wood burning! The pizza! Forno Antico prepares what is known as Neopolitan pizza, which is considered the best pizza in Italy. This means thin crust(not too thin — still soft and chewy on the inside) with crispy bits from the fire. The toppings — fresh vegetables, sausage!!!, and home made sauce!!! And, as if all that wasn’t enough, they have parking — which is tough to come by on that hellish street that is Bronson Avenue.
