Lots of boys looking for boys. Music is good and Pride was a blast. If you’re a girl don’t expect to get served at the bar – bring a guy friend. Unisex bathrooms will be flooded, without toilet paper, lacking stall doors, and harbouring strangers having sex. Be warned lol.

I’ve been a few times, and it was pretty packed and rather boring. The music is distorted because it’s played too loud on lower quality speakers. Nobody there seems to be interested in anyone else, and heavens forbid you accidentally ask one to dance! What gay bar bartender doesn’t know how to or have the stuff to make a Cosmo? My friend was all excited to get one and was met with a snotty look and told to order something real. Then again, I have been told that this is were people can get club drugs and cocaine now. I guess that’s a perk for some people, just not the sort I hang out with.

Too cliquey and boring. The crowd ranges from girls to bitchy twinks to snobby yuppies. The DJ that was playing when I was there was bad. The staff aren’t nice and drinks were overpriced & I think they were watered down. It looks nice but mind you it’s in a basement so can get a bit stuffy. Everyone kinda just kept with their own group of friends. The only thing I enjoyed were the fierce Drag queens who performed that night.(Friday)

I went there with friends a few weeks ago and found the staff extremely rude. When I was in the washroom there was a girl in the stall next to me who was throwing up. I asked her if she was ok and she could barely respond. I went to the bar to ask for a glass of water for this girl and the bartender refused to give me water unless I paid for a bottle and said drinks weren’t allowed in the washroom anyway. I told him there was a girl in there who was throwing up and needed help. He didn’t seem to care at all about the welfare of this girl. I told him this was ridiculous and if she needed an ambulance I would be the first to say he refused her any help and even water. He then blew up at me, got the bouncer and kicked me out. I’ve never been to a place with such horrible staff. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

It’s one of those places that is fun with a large group of friends. That may mean that it’s not the bar that makes this place fun but rather the company you keep, right? Edge does have some good qualities like the great music that most gay clubs offer. The drinks are reasonably priced but I find a bit watered down. For those who don’t like to show off their dance moves, this place may make you a little dance self conscious. All around the dance floor there’s an elevated viewing area where the wall flowers stand and watch you. Try to just pretend they’re not watching you… The bar, located downstairs in a quiet area of downtown, has almost a cave feel to it. Saturday nights tend to be busier than Friday nights and the summer patio is a good time — if you can handle the 178 set of stairs you have to walk up and down. That may not even be an exaggeration.

The Edge is probably Ottawa’s biggest gay dance club. With two bar areas, theme nights on the weekend(Sexy Friday, Dance Fever Saturday and Cabaret Sunday), a rooftop patio, drag queen competitions, speakers to dance on and fun dance music, this place can be a great night out, if you’re into that scene. One area is a large dance space with a DJ, flashing lights, disco ball and a crowded floor. Behind it is a room that’s more like a lounge with its own bar and couches and tables to sit at and talk to your friends. This is a good option if you want a break from dancing, but if you’re looking for a gay bar with more of a pub or lounge atmosphere, I’d recommending going to another place.
