The poutine was dry, the cheese nowhere near melted and the fries had no flavour and over cooked. Sorry but this is not the place to get a great poutine.

The blooming onion was great and the owner was really nice. The prices were a little high but it is always worth it. I will definitely visit again.

The Blooming Onion is often listed as the best chip wagon in Ottawa to get poutine, especially by XPress’ annual reader’s poll. However, I think its location gives it an edge, especially since no other chip wagons are allowed in the market. The poutine is still tasty and not too heavy. I also really like the owner and he seems to be popular amongst other patrons as well. It’s obvious he enjoys his job. However, the poutine isn’t phenomenal, the prices are a bit high and the hours are short and unpredictable. If you can catch it open and you’re craving a poutine fix in the market, this is a pretty sweet spot to go. If you’re a vegetarian, don’t fret because the gravy has no meat products. …I don’t think I’ve encountered anyone who actually had a blooming onion at the Blooming Onion.
