5 stars based on two Products they sell. First is the Chelsea Bun, so amazing. It is baked to perfection, just the right amount of caramelazied sugar and cinnamon. Second are their butter tarts. In my opinion, the best I have ever had! You have to stop and try both. Remember, this is just a bakery with no seating area.

I tried a pecan tart and a chelsea bun. Both were very delicious. The pecan tart had a light, flaky crust that was a nice change of pace from other butter tarts with their heavy, crumbly crusts. The filling was a touch on the sparse side, but it was flavourful and it paired nicely with the flaky crust. It was a sweetly petite tart so you can probably down more than one without ruining your appetite. The chelsea bun had a lovely cinnamon flavour, but I’ve had more tasty, more gooey chelsea buns elsewhere.

I actually created my account right now just to write a review for Wilkies Bakery. My Boyfriend and I were in the area, hvaing just travelled from kitchener. We were walking buy on sunday afternoon after we had a big breakfast and smelled cinnabuns, they smelled delicious but I was definately too full for any baked goods, and decided to come back tomorrow. Monday afternoon rolls around we walk down and grab 2 packs of butter tarts instead to eat on the drive home. And am I ever happy we bought those tarts they are DELICIOUS. I am talking amazing butter tarts, best I have ever had in mine and My boyfriends life. I hope this place is flooded with business because they are out of this world.

Back in the 1970’s during the search of the best butter tarts in Canada, Wilkie’s was honoured as the Best in Canada. Of course, since we are in the area, we need to pick up some to try them out. The smell of baked good definitely really intoxicating when I stepped inside the bakery. Sweet and Comforting… $ 4.75 for a 6 pack. So how’s the butter tarts compared to others I had? Can I say it is really personally? My pecan butter tart was A-OK. The crust is really flaky which I really like. The filling though I found it not as runny to my liking. I didn’t try the raisin ones. I would let the other raisin lovers comment on that. Wilkies’s butter tart would not be the one I dream of at night or would have when I have these urges for a tart… but I would still pick up a 6 pack next time when I up in Orillia.
