The Monitoring Center

I decided to call the monitoring centre because of the price and because I don’t have a home phone and they had options available that would work for me. The technician arrived on time, assessed the old system that was already installed and was able to use a lot of the previous equipment which helped save me money which was great. I’ve had the service for about a month now, this is the only alarm company I’ve used before and so far I’ve been pretty happy with them.

The tech was a guy named Martin. During the process of setting up my alarm, he kicked over 2 full cans of paint down my staircase. 2 hours of cleanup later, and after assessing the damage, I said I was not paying for the privilege of him damaging my home. He threw a fit and called «his boss». After a 5 minute private conversation, they decided that it was my fault that a grown man cannot see paint cans on the floor. I had to argue to eventually get the fee waived. Will report to consumer affairs and take to small claims. Link to some pictures post cleanup

I have used this company for many years without any problems until tonight. I recommended them many times but after tonight… never again. My neighbors alarm went off for 15 minutes and we called the police. Since I also use their service, I called to see why they never called the police during the time the alarm was going off. The 1^st person hung up on me. Nice! The 2^nd one said it was none of my business. If you use this company and someone breaks into your house, you will be dead before they think it is their business to respond to your alarm. DO NOT USE THEM, YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON THEM…

After recently moving into our new home and seeing «The Monitoring Center» stickers in the windows, we decided to give them a call. From their call center, to their technicians, to their follow up call personnel, everyone was a pleasure to deal with.
Our initial phone call answered the questions we had, so we went and booked the technician’s visit. He arrived on time, was polite and extremely helpful. He tested the system and gave us instructions on how to use it. We were «live» in no time!
I would recommend these guys to all my friends and family. A+

the monitoring has been good, the cost ended up being about $ 22 a month instead of the 9.99 because i had to buy their cellular unit because of no hardline available. now 1 year into the contract, they (ILLEDGELY) have to upgrade the unit because it is no longer supported by AT&T. because their equipment is insufficient i will now be charged another $ 300 dollars bringing the cost to $ 30 a month which is basically what i was paying before … hmmmm, the service seems fine, but, not sure about these «necessary» upgrades at my expense, and the $ 9.99 was just a fantasy in my case …

I have been a customer of TMC for about a month and once I went to disarm my alarm and the alarm went off. A second later, the phone rings. Who is it. They always call back within 5 seconds. EXCELLENT SERVICE I used to have ERS until someone told us about TMC.

For over ten years I was a customer of ADT’s security system monitoring service. I was paying them $ 35.99 per month or over $ 431 per year. One day I finally decided to call The Monitoring Center after repeatedly hearing their catchy jingle on the radio «Call 1−866-twenty-four seven for $ 9.99.» This is their phone number 1−866−247−4999, catchy, huh?
They were running a special with free set-​up and I think six months free service, but I had to sign an 18 month contract. Not a big deal, remember we had stuck with ADT for ten years! Saving $ 26 per month or $ 312 per year was a No Brainer and within a few weeks after making the call I was set-​up with TMC.
TMC has, if anything, been better than ADT. They call within minutes of the alarm going off (thankfully thus far it has gone off only due to me stupidly forgetting to disarm the system in the morning!) which shows they are on the ball. Sometimes ADT would not call after an alarm.
I kick myself whenever I think of all that wasted money paid to ADT for all those years and I STRONGLY recommend anyone who is paying one of the more expensive security companies to consider switching to TMC. Note, however, that I already had a security system in place and that I was already month-​to-​month with ADT and not still locked into a contract with them. If I did not already have a system or was stuck in a contract with someone else the economics might have been less attractive.

BEWARE OF THIS COMPANY IF YOU CANCEL YOUR CONTRACT ONE DAY
When you signed your contract with this company, it encourages you to prepay ONE year ahead for the first year or later 6 months in advance. In its contract under clause 4 (back page of pink paper contract in greyish fine print of small font size), there is a clause that they will not tell you until you decide to relocate and tried to get back your pre-​paid amounts for the reminder period. That clause basically said that you have agreed to the total forfeiture of ALL remaining pre-​paid amounts, even you do not get any alarm monitoring service after cancellation. I moved and tried to get back my outstanding 4 months of pre-​paid amounts. The company simply just give me the finger and basically said «go ahead, sue us and see if we cared.»
I will no longer want to deal with this greedy and arrogant company no matter how cheap they can be when they treat customers like dirt and basically laid out an unfair contract in fine prints for customers to sign unknowingly.
Felt like a big heel and got suckered by The Monitoring Center. Buyers beware!

I’ve taken off work for two different service appointments and each time them didn’t bring the right parts! They have been good at monitoring, but this is unacceptable.

TMC understands who the customer is. From my first phone call to inquire through the tech arriving on time to convert my system from ADT, the experience was awesome. If you are an ADT customer, or considering being one, run away!!!

We’ve had The Monitoring Center for about 9 months, prior to that we had another security company that was 3x the price. TMC is awesome, we accidentally set our alarm off the other morning, it took me about 5 seconds to put in the code and turn it off. Two seconds later the phone rings and it’s TMC calling to check on us. Our old alarm co never called when the alarm went off, they were a joke. We are super happy with The Monitoring Centers’ service.

The Monitoring Centre — has one of the best prices for home alarm monitoring service in Ontario!
The deal — $ 9.99 a month, for 12 months, and they give you 6 months free. The service is monitored in Oakville and they inspect your home before making your system live.
I didn’t require the alarm system — just the monitoring — and I was thinking for $ 10 the service would probably be really crap — but its not — they make multiple touch points /​confirmations — email, phone and service rep for installation. The service rep was an expert who went around and showed me areas of concern /​things i should pay attention too. He never once tried to sell me anything and actually told me I could get the pieces at a department store and they would set it up for me.
Also, I have read on other sites of people saying the alarm went off and the monitoring centre sent guards — well during the initial sign up they ask you — would you like to have the police or guards show up — they ask you this because in some areas to have the police come to your house they charge a fee (some areas the police charge like $ 200) — and some people dont want that. Luckily I live in peel and sending the police is free!
Conclusion — $ 10 a month is a steal — compared to others who charge $ 30, $ 40, $ 50.
