Toughest bagel I ever had, their pumpernickel today at noon. Sorry guys but with so much competition you’d think you’d get rid of day old bagels. My jaw hurts…

Staff are incompetent. They generally don’t undertand the orders as they are placed and they are not familiar with their own product. The staff are slow and disorganized and a simple purchase becomes a frustrating ordeal. Routinely they give you the older, less fresh bagels even when fresher ones are being baked and taken out of the oven. It is almost as if the criteria for being hired is failing an IQ test. Not much redeeming about this location.

Bagels are good. The fresher the better. Hours are good (actually — outstanding). Not sure about their other stuff. Eat them straight out of the bag, or with cream cheese, or bring ‘em home and add smoked salmon from Costco.

Bought bagels and knishes, went home to eat them and large mould in the knishes. When I bought them, I inquired if they were baked that morning, and the counter lady said yes. I brought them back a few hours later and while I got a refund, my Saturday morning breakfast with my children was ruined. Do not go and buy their food! I bought the chopped egg there some months back and after one taste, I threw out the package. I should have learned a lesson then!

This place used to be my old go to place for a fresh bagel fix as they are open 24 hours and was within driving distance when I lived in that area. Its hard not to appreciate a fresh baked item. Things haven’t changed though due to construction I didn’t see the oven.
I got my trusty sesame bagel, buttered toasted and with a nice dollop of liver. My friend had the pumpernickel toasted, buttered and with a slice of cheddar. They do have some other gourmet items as well like jams etc.
All in all a good way to get your bagel fix at a very reasonable price.

Montréal Style, my favourite bagel style. Breakfast Sandwich with ham, tomato, lettuce, mayo and siracha sauce on any bagel really hits the spot.

I’m originally from Montréal and we know our bagels. When I move to Toronto, I gave up on bagels sine they all seemed to be «pregnant bread».
Well, I found the bagel house and WOW! I can enjoy my Montréal bagels again. they don’t have that sweet Fairmount or St Viateur Bagel but very very close.
This is a place to buy your bagels and bagel toppings and enjoy at home. I haven’t eaten there. I know they offer eat-​in bagel meals but I have not rated this.

This is the location to get your bagels, and they are open 24 hours a day!!! The other bagel house locations seem to over proof the bagels, and they become lighter, and larger. The simply sesame are the original style, but they are all good, my niece and nephew like the mini bagels, which are good. These guys also supply a lot of other stores with bagels, so you may as well ho to the source. Enjoy!!!

Bagels are best anywhere, however I find staff often rude and have gotten moldy cheese more than once.. ..

This is THE place to get Montréal bagels in Toronto, and they’re open 24 hours to boot! I’ve been to Saint Viateur in Montréal, and these bagels are very similar — a tiny touch sweeter. I actually like these better, but personal tastes may vary.
Some people may prefer other types of bagels, but if it’s Montréal style bagels you’re after, this is the place (in Toronto).

Bagel house used to be the first spot I wanted to go for late-​night food: the BLT was something to die for. But a few months ago, this place changed their bacon to the pre-​made kind instead of the beautiful flavorful bacon they used to stock. The bagels are still usually great — they are the ones that opened me up to bagels beyond yucky Tim Hortons — but it’s just not the same.
However, I would still suggest to check out the chocolate or cinnamon puffs if you have a sweet tooth. These are AMAZING!

My dog is a very picky canine indeed! Not how you would expect a review for a bagel place to begin… let me explain. I get to come here every so often to carbo-​load on the awesome Montréal style bagels that are distinctly chewy and crisp and sweet. Btw, try the «Everything» bagel if you like some flava to your bagel. Seriously though, when these bagels are fresh you don’t need any butter or cream cheese, they’re THAT GOOD. If the dairy devil really gets to you then I would suggest the olive cream cheese to get your lactose/​sodium groove on.
Do not even bother with the other baked goods like pasteries, muffins etc as they are more akin to lesser supermarket varieties.
As for the service they’ve been great by me, others have complained, but I feel for these folks as I can only imagine how being stuck behind a counter with a wood burning oven at your backside in the summer while someone yells «no mayo» at you five times when you clearly heard them the first time might suck.
Okay now about my dog, she could give a squirrel’s ass about any other olé bagel but since I fed her one of these babies, she is hooked!!! I mean she gives me the crazy canine eyes whenever I bring these bad boys home with me.
There you have it! The Bagel house, the number one effective bagel for training pitbulls!

Very good bagels. I like the fact that they have Montréal bagels which are good. Not as good as NYC bagels but still very delicious. The bagels are fresh and the ones that I’ve eaten have been fresh out of the oven. No need to toast it because once you bite into it, the dough just melts in your mouth.
But the best part is that they are open 24 hours so when you are hammered and have that bagel craving (usually not that often for me but it does happen) then The Bagel House is the place to go.

Not that I will wake up at 3 AM and have a craving for Bagels… but you never know. I do wake up in the middle of the night have cravings of a lot of things. But having an option knowing that you can find something that is open beside that 24 hour MacDonald. that is all good to me!
The Bagel House makes the traditional Montréal bagel baked in front of me in a wood-​fired stove! Now I know how fresh my bagels are! The bagel dough includes egg and honey. Honey is also added to the water used for poaching the bagels before baking.
Love the poppyseed ones. yes it is infested with poppyseed and oh how they all stick to my teeth. is someone playing a practical joke on me again?
The Salami bagel is more salami than bagel… But I think I rather has the bagel with butter or just a touch of cream cheese. so I can really taste it in their purist form…
Now will I eat a Tim Horton bagel again??? hmmmm …

This House of Bagels has a few other Baked Goods of interest but I have to say that because of the queue and the setup of this shop, it takes some getting used to especially for first-​time customers. The Bagels and order-​taking are in the back and the Bagels themselves are hidden behind the people lining up and kids climbing on the display to get a look.
I knew I wanted Bagel with Cream Cheese ($ 2.75) but it’s more than just that. First you will be asked WHICH Bagel and I had barely time to look as I could feel the breath of the Man behind me while the Kids hid my selection. Twisted. Choice I remembered in Bob Blumer’s Punishment.
I also got the Hungarian Salami ($ 4.49) on Sesame (Plain) Bagel. Tomato ($ 0.25) and Cucumber ($ 0.25) were added and was asked if I wanted Mayonnaise or Mustard.
Me: Mayonnaise please.
BH: Mayonnaise?
Me: Yes.
10 seconds later, forgets my choice and asks again…
BH: Mustard?
Me: Sure, whatever. (I just want eat)
Montréal style Bagels done at this place are enjoyable and less doughey dense than Tim Hortons. While BUSY, this place becomes slightly confused but the queue within 10 minutes of our order disappeared altogether. Best to out-​wait the queue so you can make better decisions and the staff can do a better job on your order.
What bothered me was I realized Cream Cheese ($ 1.40) spread here cost more than the lone Bagel ($ 1.35) itself. I suggest you but one Bagel and one with Cream Cheese. SPLIT the Cream Cheese one in half and put one half onto the PLAIN one.
Voila! 2 Cream Cheese Bagels ($ 2.05) compared to ($ 2.75).

Gotta love the Montréal-​style bagels!
They’re made fresh 24 hours a day — so no matter how early you start your day, you can run in and grab breakfast lunch and dinner to go.
Location is convenient on the way downtown so stopping in for a quick bagel (s) to go. I’ve never actually stayed there to eat — but the place is always busy for breakfast/​brunch — especially on the weekends.

Yum yum! One of the only Montréal style bagel shops in Toronto! Their sesame bagels are to die for. I just eat them fresh, as is. Toasting is not necessary. On busy Avenue Road, parking isn’t the greatest. I recommend parking on the side street and running in to get yourself a dozen. Don’t be fooled by the small shriveled up looking bagels, they aren’t dense or heavy. Don’t settle for Tim Horton’s bagels, you gotta try these!
