North Beach Indoor Volleyball

Bad experience with the birthday party. We were rushed, requested area not provided, rock climbing wall not available but the worst part was really really rushed. Safe to say never booking this place again.

I started coming here last summer to watch some friends play in the volleyball and dodgeball leagues. Never gave it too much thought other than the fact that they had a bar. Yay! I started a team this year and I really enjoy it. The staff are very friendly and they have a lot of courts available. I think it’s great that they offer late night volleyball and clinics. I think enrolling in that would be quite helpful! It’s not the cheapest place to grab a pitcher of beer but it sure is handy and refreshing when you’re playing outside for dodgeball in the heat. The clientele are of all ages and are normally pretty friendly. The only issue I’ve been having lately is the leaky roof! It’s quite distracting when drops of water are falling on you during a play. I’ve also got to say that they really need to replace the netting outdoors since the dodgeball always finds its way to slip through and escape to the street.

I came here for the Saturday night drop in from 10pm — 2 am for $ 11. This is an indoor beach volleyball facility with 8 courts, changerooms, washrooms, bar, eatery, and sitting areas.
This is a great way to spend a weekend night with friends and definitely a healthier alternative to bars/​clubs. However, I definitely agree with the previous reviewers about coming here as a group. It seems hard to find a team to join if you come by yourself. Most people come together and luckily we had about 12 people, so we were able to play with just our friends. The facility itself is a good alternative when it is cold or raining outside. The sand is a bit cold and wet, but that is okay since you are constantly moving while playing.
The only issues I have were the long waits for courts at the beginning of the night (–0.5) and the early closure of the bar (–0.5). Although there were 8 courts, some were reserved for 2’s, so some team had to wait to play. There was no formal waitlist, where you just have to go around and ask teams that are playing to let you on the next game. The bar closes relatively early (for a weekend night). I think last call was around 11:30-midnight. Overall, this is a great place if you are looking to get active with some friends on an otherwise boring weekend night!

First time at indoor beach volleyball with 5 other friends. I went for the drop in games for $ 11 per person from 10pm to 2am on Friday. I’d say it was a cheap fun way to hang out with friends. Definitely something to try out. We brought our own ball, but I think you can borrow one for $ 10, which you get back. (Not absolutely sure)
In my opinion as a beginner player, it’s best to go with a group of friends, so you have a team to play against others. At first, we only had four people because our friends came later, it was a little intimidating and harder to play against other teams. Since it’s drop in, there are players of various levels. But the players and the staff were very nice there and understand not everyone is on the same level. No judgment!
There were about 8 courts. If all the courts are full, you have to call the next court to play the winning team. At first, it was an honour system, but then more people came and got more chaotic, so a staff member started delegating with a sign up sheet. The wait for a court was about 15 – 30 minutes. They had a jitz table, basketball net, and a bar to help kill time, so I didn’t mind at all.
I had a great experience there and will likely go back, possibly in the next two weeks!

A great alternative if weather is not co-​operating. I called in and they gave me a slightly better rate than what was online. I found it quite similar to the beach aside from semi-​cold sand and no sun but it was still quite fun. They also have seating nearby which is great for non-​players, as well you can get alcohol and food from the bar nearby!

It’s a little chilly in here sometimes and I HATE the cold sand. But it’s a fun place to be — I go once in a while on Saturday nights, they have games from 10pm-​2am so if you don’t feel like going out and wanna be active this is the place!
It’s $ 11 bucks for the Saturday night games and you can come whenever and play until 2. There’s a bar with beer and food that I haven’t been to because why? Aaaaand everyone is pretty friendly so just find a court and ask if you can join with other people.

One of those places that I sometimes go, and love it everytime. I don’t know why I don’t go more often. Prices are fair and I love that their is a bar here.
Overall a great place to go if you have a ok sized group to go with, and the people are pretty friendly there.

This is where I spend my weekdays after work to relieve stress! Awesome friendly people at the counter and you can always find people to play with. Bar is surprisingly good and food is even better. Must try for anyone interested in beach volleyball (without the sun burn).

You get used to the smell after about 10 minutes.
League is kind of pricey but perks such as free drop in and clinics more than make up for it, if you can take advantage.
Late evening drop in is unpredictable, in both attendance and skill, so you might end up waiting a lot between games of questionable quality.
Lockers are available (bring your own lock) but it seems that most people just leave their stuff near the court they’re playing on.
Ladies change room, shower and bathroom decently clean, but dated.

Do NOT make your child’s birthday party at this facility. There is no air conditioning and on a day when it is 30+ degrees outside, it is not a good place to have your kids running around like maniacs. I paid for a dinosaur dig and some how the games person I hired didn’t know how to assemble the dinosaur bones. They were VERY disorganized… couldn’t get the air to stay in the balloons, couldn’t find any table cloths. They told me that they would be making pizza in their restaurant and in the end ordered 241 pizza to be delivered. It was pretty embarrassing. After the amount of effort I put into planning the party, I left feeling very angry. I would never recommend this place to a friend. Never.

I have been playing volleyball here for 4 seasons now and can’t say enough about how great this place is!
First of all, what a great idea! We play beach volleyball all summer, why not all winter too?! They have 8 indoor courts, 2 outdoor courts and a bar/​restaurant with a big patio (more on this later).
The leagues here are well organized, the nets and balls are in great condition, and the sand is so soft between your toes (it does smell a bit funny if you get too close though… kind of like damp dirty feet).
They have change rooms to change in before and after, and showers to wash the sand off, but my favourite part of this facility (apart from the courts themselves) is the bar!
Right in the middle of all the courts there are about 10 booths with heated lamps overhead and a bar at the end. I will tell you right now, there is nothing like playing a tough game of volleyball and relaxing afterwords with your team and a beer in your shorts and t-​shirt while a blizzard is going on outside. Maybe catching the game while you’re at it too (they have televisions in the bar). Or in the summer sit on their newly renovated patio and grab a bite from their brand new kitchen.
I should also mention (this is a BIG up for them) that I paid for a season and my team fell apart a week the season was about to begin. Not only did North Beach give me my money back just 6 days before the season began, but they gave it ALL back to me (no deposit collected or anything) and with no hassle either.
On Friday and Saturday night between 9:45pm and 2am they run ‘Rock the Sandbox’ which is pick up volleyball on their 8 courts for just $ 10. This is a better deal than Beach Blast, which only runs Fridays and is almost twice as expensive, and The Hangar, which only has two courts and closes at midnight.
Oh and they sell volleyball equipment (balls, nets, lines, apparell, etc.) in their shop at very reasonable prices.
This would be a fantastic place to throw a party, and is definitely somewhere worth checking out if you’re looking for indoor beach volleyball courts. 5 BIG stars for this one!

Awesome place for a beach volleyball if the weather outside sucks for outdoor action.
They’re open the whole year round which makes it very attractive for vball players.
They also provide clinics for different levels of players which I loved.
and the sand there is amazing! love the feeling of it more than the one from the beaches area…
they have about 5 indoor courts and 2 outdoor. There is also a bar with small seating area.
Not the most convenient location but if you live in the north part of the city then it’s much closer and convenient to get to than all the downtown locations.
they also do parties for kids as I heard. which should be tons of fun for aforementioned kids.

I went here for a party on Sunday. The bar was a «buy tickets to get drinks» set-​up. One bar served me drinks without taking tickets and the other bar gave me 2 for 1 drinks. SOLD!
I loved having a «beach» fête in the sand. Too bad I lost my belly ring and someone stole my Old Navy flip flops. How did I get through it? Read line 2 & 3 of paragraph 1!

If you’re looking for some indoor beach volleyball action then this is definitely the place to go. They have 5 or 6 courts, continuously maintained with leagues and clinics running all the time.
They serve their own pizza and have a little arcade and play area (ping pong table and such) as well as a couple gathering areas great for birthday parties and gatherings.
If I remember they have a bar as well so you have your beer, sit on the «beach» and have fun playing some beach volleyball. The way they decorated and painted the place almost makes it seems like a nice day at the real beach which is pretty cool.
