If i gave bad reviews about any other hospital. OMG im so sorry
Worst experience ever

Take a cab and go somewhere else if you can or use TeleHealth or a walk-​in… even a three hour wait at a good walk in clinic is better than being admitted here. Many of the nurses are rude (you will find the odd good one that will probably agree with you and even tell you how to submit your complaint), the rooms are dirty, the elevators have been neglected substantially, I guess the risk of falling doesn’t exist as it’s not that tall of a building, but getting stuck is, so carry bottled water and a smart phone before going in.

My wife came here for an inpatient operation. I have heard stories about Humber river hospital or HRH and how the care here was questionable. It looks like the stories were half true. Her operation was scheduled on a Thursday at 11am, we arrived at 9 am and checked in to the inpatient area of the hospital. We waited in a very crowded waiting room with limited seating. At 11:15 she was admitted to the operation and we were told it was going to take about 2.5 hours and someone would be out when it was over to let us know how it went. FYI the hospital is very small compared to most in the GTA.
The waiting room for operations is actually the front lobby of the hospital. There is a small Tim hortons and a small cafeteria on the lower level (7am-​2pm) and there is no WIFI. If you plan to be waiting here for someone. bring a book, knitting, laptop, dvd player, pillow… anything to keep you amused. The closest mall is at Jane and Finch. I waited for my wife for almost 5 hours and finally after getting really worried I walked over to the surgical desk. I was told that she was out over an hour ago and was in recovery. I was a little angry that no person came out to tell us how it went. I wasn’t allowed to see her for another 1.5 hours as they were short on beds. I finally saw her as she was being brought up to the inpatient area. We had asked for a private room or semi private, but since beds were in short supply she was put in a ward. I took a walk myself down the halls and saw at least 1 semi private rooms available.
After she was transferred to the ward, we had ordered the TV service as she was going to be there till Saturday. We didn’t get the service till Friday night. My wife told me about how some of the nurses bedside manner was questionable as her experiences during the night with other patients. The state of the hospital is in flux, as the hospital will be moving to the new location in 10 months. There is only 1 working publicly accessible elevator in the building and sometimes it can take 15 min to get from floor to floor. I have also never seen an hospital with so much equipment and garbage in the hall.
I did say our experience was half bad as the emergency ward was totally the opposite of what the inpatient services was. We had to come back the next day and check in through emergency. The experience was amazing. fast service great nurses and doctors. The longest part was waiting for test results. Even though the hospital will only be around for 10 more months, I hope the quality of care for the inpatient side will take some pointers from the great staff at Emergency.

i dislocated my shoulder and the paramedic asked me if it would be ok to go here as the North York general was busy. if you find yourself in the same situation and they wont take you to a different hospital, shoot yourself in the head right now. If you have no lethal weapon around, jump out of the ambulance and hope that a car runs you down. You will be better off.
The whole hospital looks like it is from a gheto or some prison hospital. But we dont judge a hospital by it’s cover, or lack thereof
When I arrived with my dislocation, I was moaning from pain, yet the idiot triage insisted I spell every letter of my address, next of kin, and other nonconcequential BS. Then she proceded to put me in the wrong department where the attending nearly succeeded in grabbing my arm to see what the «sprain» was. When I yeld at the moron that my arm was clearly dislocated as my shoulder joint was now where my armpit used to be, he conceded that this was outside his area of expertise, and a mere hour later I finally had my arm reduced.
I know that most people don’t shop around for hospitals when they need to go to ER, but just keep this in mind — unless you are immediately dying, even if you have to drive twice as long to a different hospital, you may be better off.
