GoodLife Fitness

This location is one of three locations within the Yonge/​Finch area and Yonge/​Sheppard area. My routine is a class and than some weights or circuit training.
SERVICE
Good. Everyone is generally happy including the cleaning staff. The instructor for the classes at this location are motivating and aggressive at the same time. They really challenge you.
EQUIPMENT
There is a good range of equipment. You have your typically circuit training consisting of 12 – 15 machines. There are a sufficient amount of treadmills, stair-​masters, elliptical and bicycles to accommodate a busy day. The are for the free weights do get crowded. There is one squash court with weekly tournaments. A main workout space for classes. The best class with the best overall workout is BODYCOMBAT. There is a cycling room that on the second where the change rooms are.
FACILITIES
Yoga is great. I usually attend the free sessions on Wednesday 7:15pm and Fridays at noon. No pool. And the list above.
LOCATION
Conveniently located right at Finch subway station. No need to walk outside.
PARKING
Available free underground for two hours.
OVERALL
This one is convent for me because there is no need to go outside as it accessible direct from the subway. The only comment is a little bit bigger would be nice.

Great location accessible by Finch station and also has underground parking. Lots of equipment to use but try to come during non peak hours because its usually pretty packed. I usually come here for the classes because the group exercise instructors are great!

Currently pleased with the cycling class schedule offered at this location. I try to make their All Terrain and RPM which is available at 12pm or 1pm Monday thru Thursday. Gets my cardio out of the way, done and done whenever I skip my morning routine!
Hubby isn’t too fond of Jane Fonda’s sweat fest I grew up watching, so this works well when him and I squeeze a date with the 45Ib minimum plate binge of iron dose in the afternoon/​late evening.
This gym houses a huge studio for their long list of classes available morning, afternoon and evening, along with 2 squash courts. Only 2 squat racks available though with an awkward layout of machines. Lotsa cardio machines and a handful of trainers ready to assist.
It is a location that takes getting used to as it caters to the younger crowd with a gym etiquette similar to anyone nowadays with time to read the fine print of any terms and agreement of a contract, nonexistent. Headphones are proven excellent tools, take note.
Staff are present and putting weights away, Changeroom is always kept neat! There is an overwhelming odor of stinky socks that welcomes you upon arrival, coming from the men’s Changerooms, (sorry guys!) but after a few minutes, you tend to go nose blind.

Pros —
–Underground parking in the winter. Free for 3 hours with validation.
–lots of cardio machines each with own tv built in.
–Clean
–squash /​racquet ball courts if you play
–mixed mature crowd — older office during the business hours — not many young punks or meathead types. — don’t know about after 5pm
Cons —
— not much free weights
— limited plate loaded machines like hammer strength
— change rooms are located round the back and on the second floor.
–underground parking — had to go down 5 levels to find a spot.
–not 24 hours so for those if us that work shift work it’s not so convenient.
Best thing about this gym is that crowd 9 – 5 m-​f seems decent. I really don’t like walking into a gym and it’s full of young punks working out in groups or if the crowd is not an representation of the overall ethic mix of Toronto. This location achieves this during the day so that’s a bonus or feeling comfortable.

Just joined goodlife through my corporate plan and this is the closest gym to my home. Like others said the floor plan is awkward as you enter through the downstairs and then have to go upstairs to the change rooms. There is no quiet place to do stretches. Lots of machines don’t work. Finally NO one bothers to wipe down their machines after they’re done so that’s pretty gross. Hoping management starts to give a damn and they clean this place up. They do offer free 2 hour parking which is pretty nice.

I refer to this gym as the «trolling» gym as you’ll get trolled one way or another on every visit here.
It is a huge gym with lots of equipment and 4 racquet ball courts however dumb bells and weights are scattered everywhere. Also a lot of students and newbies come to this gym where they’ll take over 3 – 4 machines just standing around. People also love to moan super loud and talk even louder here for some reason.
I have so many stories for this place such as someone impersonating The Rock and saying all his catch phrases in the middle of the gym, as well as seeing Maestro and his posse working out here.
If you do come here, I would suggest coming here off hours and with ear phones.

Except for the free weights section, this location has an extremely awkward floor plan and poor use of space. There are a few mats attached to the floor but these are usually full so there’s no good place to stretch or do floor exercises without bumping into someone else. I searched the entire club to find a spot for unimpeded stretching and found none. They should convert one of the squash courts into a quiet/​stretching space.
The change rooms were fairly clean but tightly packed in and stuffy. This location has no windows and I lost my cell connection numerous times; it’s not the best for live-​streaming radio while you workout. I was here during «quiet» hours and I dread to think what this place looks like when it gets busy!

I purchased a groupon for 20 yoga classes at this location. In terms of location it is definitely convenient for those who work or live close by. It is not the cleanest gym but it is doable.
The staff were nice and courteous but I don’t think I will be signing with them as prices are similar to that of other yoga studios. Generally, the yoga classes were very easy (Level 1) and they do not work you hard. Personally I prefer a good workout. If I’m not working much what am I doing in class? I should stay home and sit my @$$ on a couch. Great for beginners however. The pro is the room is nicely heated. You don’t even need to bring a mat, though I would probably bring it as the cushioned floor is prob dirty … When the light are on you will see what I mean. hair and particles here and there…
Bring your own lock. There are fountains to refill ur water bottles. Change rooms are huge and there are lots of lockers.

I would strongly recommend NOT joining this club.
I have been going to this club for a while but I have had enough.
I have changed clubs.
Things that are really bad about this club:
(1) Both the men and women change rooms are filthy like a pigsty… towels everywhere, smelly washroom, broken lockers, overflow gabbage bin
(2) A lot of the equipments are broken, I counted about 5 – 8; someone might get hurt
(3) Air condition is really bad, especially in the weight area
(4) A few of the trainers and front desk staff have an attitude problem
(5) The front desk staff are also rude and unfriendly
(6) When I was last there, no towels were available and I was told to come back later. After about 45 minutes, I went back to the front desk and still no towels (it’s not a surprise since most towels are on the change room floor!)
(7) I shared my experience with the head office and all I received was an e-​mail saying that they will look into it instead of saying they will fix the problem — standard corporate bs. I first filed my compliant about two months ago and to this date, no action whatsoever has been taken.
Overall, a badly managed club that will leave you with a horrible experience.
Update: there are only two massage chairs and one of them is broken.
Update 2: The have removed the broken massage chair.

I’ve been going to this gym for a long time coz I work in an office nearby. I’ve experienced the gym before the renovations which seemed to take forever. I got so fed up at one point that I stopped going to this location. But finally, all the renovations are done. It looks so much beter.
Things I don’t like: they moved the trainer’s area near the ellipticals. There’s hardly any room now to move around them. The stretching area was there before. They did add a hot yoga room but I haven’t tried the class yet as it’s extra on top of the regular gym fees. Also don’t like all the muscleheads that hog two weight machines at once. Or make ridiculous loud grunting noises. And why don’t they have any classes between 1pm-5.30pm on weekdays? Schedule for weekend classes is also very stingy.
Things I like: I haven’t had the experience of running out of towels. The newly renovated shower area & bathrooms in the women’s change rooms. Good amount of treadmills, ellipticals, etc.

Goodlife charges $ 5 (+tax) biweekly for towel service. Whether you get a towel here is no guarantee. Being out of towels during the crunch time is a regular «feature» of this club. You know what? I can stuff my own towel in the backpack I take to the gym. I called head office today and told them to delete towel service. That’s a savings of $ 12 a month I can now spend on fast food.

My «home» gym is the Goodlife at 250 Yonge St. (Eaton’s Centre) but this gym has squash courts (4 of them actually, not 2 as previous reviewer indicated — 2 of them are «tucked away»). I really like this gym. The changerooms and spacious and modern and the equipment is new and well-​maintained. They validate parking which is a bonus so you can park underground (entrance is off of Hendon). The only problem I have had is that they have screwed up my squash court reservation twice now when I called to book a court over the phone. Their response is that the system is flawed. Doesn’t really help me much when my partner and I have come to the gym especially to play squash.
If you are a squash player and want to book a court, get them to add you to their electronic reservation system and you can reserve a court yourself up to one week in advance.

I have been going to this club for a while on Mondays because I take those Goodlife’s ‘Bodypump’ class, the location is great because it is just outside of yonge and finch subway and you don’t need to go out to get to the gym.
I am also very impressed with the renovated gym and the services.
I usually go to the Goodlife gym in downtown during the week except I come here on Mondays. The ones in downtown, the space are smaller and the group exercise room are usually packed and you barely have room to move around.
The group fitness room in this location is huge! I have lots of room to move around during the class which is great! However, if you take bodypump class, you need to get there early to grab your plates, the medium (2.5kg) and the small plates (1kg) ones are the first one gone and you will be stuck with only 5kg plates.
This gym does not have a swimming pool but has two squash courts. I have never tried using the courts but I guess you need booking before you can use it.
The gym also has three free massage chairs which is excellent after you done your work out and relax for a while.
The women change/​locker room is also very spacious. We get those large lockers to use, and several hair drying station which is very nice. Other than that, I am just a bit disappointed with their shower stall because the space of each stall is a bit small and they only provide shampoo and body shower gel but no hair conditioner.
Otherwise, I would still give this gym A++++, definitely coming back again.
