Abysmal. The hostess was rude the manager a robot I suspect. Had several lunches there each one worse than the last… Never again!

Whatever, oh, whatever has become of White Spot french fries? There was a time when I was younger that their fries were legendary. I would love to just eat them and nothing else. There was simply, in my mind, no where had better ties than White Spot. Sadly, not anymore. Over the past few years the quality has continued to decline. Tonight my mother and I had to return our fries twice. They kept coming back looking like they were uncooked and they were. I know they were fresh, I do not believe frozen were used. We thought it was the oil they used? The type of fries? It is sad that when I go now I tend to have a salad with my burger instead of the fries which where once legendary to me.

This location is super slow! Waiting over 50 minutes for a salad is sloppy! I did like the little alcove they put us in, a bit sheltered and more quiet, but also unfortunately meant less attention and flagging down for coffee refills.

I’m from California and when I got to Vancouver, I saw so many different White Spots that I had to stop by and try it. It was okay. Average. Nothing too crazy or great. I had the Chicken Pick’ns and it was basically fried chicken with fries and coleslaw. The Chicken wasn’t overdone and was good. I had to ask for some hot sauce for extra flavor. The coleslaw was okay. I have to admit that the fries are pretty good. Flavorful and not too greasy. Thumbs up on the poutines! Service was good and there was either a waitress or waiter who frequently checked up on us. Our water cups were full and they were courteous. I can get White Spot food at many other locations. Nothing really stood out about it but I really didn’t have anything to complain or be grossed about either. Nice job.

This place was packed, so I forgive them somewhat, but the food took forever, and when it arrived some of it was lukewarm and my wife got a caesar instead of a spot salad. The waiter asked if there was anything else we needed for which i asked for ketchup that never showed up. My friend ordered the same burger as me(the japapeno/bacon/peanut butter burger) and I noticed that mine had about half the toppings of his. Since the restaurant was so busy the staff was running around like crazy so I felt kinda bad trying to flag one down to sort out the mistakes(my wife mentioned the salad thing, but we were still charged full price). Also since we were in a hurry we didn’t have the time for them to fix it. Other than the above it was a very enjoyable meal, and the food tasted pretty good. I think I’ll stick to the white spot in my own hood. Or at least come back here when it’s less of a peak time for a more enjoyable meal.

I have my ups and downs with this particular location. I don’t go there regularly but I have been there enough to write a review now. I find this location has good service depending on the day, sometimes is great, sometimes is just ok. The food is ok. I used to love their mushroom bennies but I have been disappointed the last 2 times I ordered them, so when I go I just get some classics, particularly their burgers, their waffles and the fries. My last visit I tried the blueberries waffle and it was great! Definitely fresh blueberries on that syrup and the waffle was nice and fluffy. I give them 3 stars for inconsistency with food and service… but you know well that I’ll keep trying!

Good old White Spot. They’ve tried hard to tart themselves up in the past few years with their cocktail lists(mmm, Spotini) and that ad campaign with famous local chefs, but at least they’ve shown some sense by retaining the old favourites. Legendary Platters. Beef Vegetable soup. That thing with the broccoli and chicken in a cheese sauce. And fries! I love White Spot fries above any other fries. This particular White Spot deserves some mention, because usually I go with my family, which includes two pretty well-behaved but loud and playful little girls. This White Spot has a private little nook with a big booth-style table where we can sit with the kids and not worry that they’re bothering anyone else. They can climb around and colour and eat their Pirate Paks, which still come in the cardboard ship. Now a word about the special menus: why do chefs of renown, such as John Bishop, allow their names to be put on such bland reproductions of their cuisine? The special menus seem to be hit and miss, so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing. When at White Spot, stick to the classics.
