Sabai Thai Spa

I love this place. Have been twice now for a massage/​facial and have had two wonderfully relaxing experiences. Will continue to go back and see Robyn anytime I need to zen out.

I bought multiple groupons for this place and they’ve always delivered great service! The place is very hygienic and they offer you tea or water after your treatment. They use all Eminence products which are all natural (I think organic). I got the 90 minute spa package including 60 mins. Deep tissue and 30 mins facial. They do a nice medium-​hard pressure if requested. Best groupon I’ve bought yet. They always have monthly promotions, so even if you don’t have a groupon you can still get a reasonable deal. I favor this place over Spa Utopia hands down.

Excellent service. The women who work here are wonderful. My only complaint is that the owner is clearly a bit of a tyrant. The staff is much calmer when they are left to work on thier own without her lurking over them. If I had the money, I would hire all of the staff and open a new spa and let the women run it themselves. !

I had a great experience here yesterday. I purchased the pure serenity package on groupon for 81 dollars (20% off 101). The package included 90 minutes with eye and lip treatments, facial and massage.
The massage was very relaxing and she used a good amount of pressure that released knots but wasn’t too painful. She also pressed a lot of pressure points that helped to relax and release energy. I also loved the head massage and facial massage.
The facial was citrusy in scent and left my skin soft and glowing. It wasn’t the best facial I’ve ever had but it was a good brightening and softening treatment.
Overall, a great experience and the ginger lemon tea they provided post-​treatment was delicious! I’ll definitely be coming back for the pure serenity package

I have only been to this spa once so perhaps I would have given it a better rating if I’d had a good experience there ever. I chose them after reading several positive reviews online and because they were close to home. However, the one time I did go (in August 2012) was a disaster.
I went for a facial and thought that for my birthday, I’d give myself a treat of tinting my eyelashes. The facial was fine and the aesthetician had a lovely personality, seemed experienced and I thought I was in good hands. When she put on the eyelash tint, my left eye began to burn. I told her this and she said it was normal and would go away later. It continued to burn. I again asked her if it was really normal, that my eye was really burning, and she said sometimes it happens. When I left, both eyes were red and irritated but the left was extremely red. The next day, the upper lid was swollen so much that my eye was half shut. My eye was bloodshot and watering constantly. I went to the doctor and she told me never to dye lashes. I had to use steroid and antibiotic drops in my eye for three weeks and for that entire time my eye was red and weepy. It itched constantly even with spite of treatment and kept me up at night it was so intense — for three weeks. I called the spa twice to let them know what happened and the response I received was a dismissive «Oh, I’m sorry.» from the receptionist who would not put the manager on the phone but promised to deliver the message. They never returned my call.
I thought they would want to know that if a client complains of burning eyes, perhaps they are having an allergic reaction and should wash any dye off immediately. From my experience, I would have to assume that they either don’t care or are more afraid of being sued (which I had no intention of doing) than treating their clients decently. A genuine apology or expression of some concern would have been nice. Be warned about the negligible level of care they have for their clientele.

Cannot recommend this place and the 90-​minute Pure Serenity Package more — I was gifted a Living Social voucher and bought another one at the end of my session! There was a LOT packed into the time, Ayuku had a great routine and technique. Great effort to keep oil out of hair, nice dry scalp massage at the end — bring your hairbrush (I usually don’t carry one) for your comb-​out before you leave. Eminence products felt soothing and not perfume-​y, no hard sell afterward just samples offered. Parking behind!

I have been coming here for years and it used to be my go to spa, hands down. Unfortunately, I have found the quality has gone downhill over the last two years.
It started when I was pregnant. My husband sent me for a pedicure because I couldn’t reach my feet to paint my own toenails. There was no foot massage during the pedicure and the woman giving me the pedicure kept talking about inappropriate topics making it a very unenjoyable experience. When I left my husband noticed that the nail polish was splattered on my toes and she didn’t wipe it off with some nail polish remover. Overall a waste of time and money.
My second experience lately was in January 2014. I went for an hour Asian fusion massage. Asked the therapist to focus on my shoulders and for firm pressure. She gave firm pressure everywhere except my shoulders. When I mentioned this she said she would work on them more and didn’t. I actually left with bruised hips from the amount of pressure she put on them which is the pressure I required on my shoulders.
Overall, I have not enjoyed my recent experiences the way I used to and they have lost a long time customer.

I have been to sabai thai four times now for there relaxation massages. As soon as you walk in the smells and warm inviting staff instantly help relax you. By far the best massages I have had. They massage everything from your feet to your scalp. The ultimate in relaxation. When you are finished you get to sit there with a warm glass of delicious tea and relax. Love this place and will continue to support them.

I got the groupon for the massage and facial here and I was expecting a spectacular experience from reading the reviews. However, I found it to be average for the amount that I paid for the service. The massage was good except it felt like the girl was jabbing me with her elbow at times. I’ve had numerous facials in the past from different spas and I found their facial mediocre, it felt like she was slowly washing my face and then layered on a bunch of moisturizer on my face at the end. The hot towels were a nice touch though. The spa is nicely decorated and it is a very clean facility, but the services are not anything out of the ordinary.

As a result of nerve damage to my lower body I take a lot of massage, scrubs, reflexology, etc. Yesterday I received a massage from Fusayo at Sabai Thai Spa in North Vancouver, and it was absolutely STELLAR!
This morning I woke up for the first time in over a year with almost no pain or stiffness in my legs and feet. I was able to get out of bed and just walk to thew bathroom like I used to do in the old days.
The massage was deep and addressed exactly the points in my body that were blocked. It felt as if Fusayo was able to «unlock» my spine and legs. She is a gifted healer in my book.
The general atmosphere in the spa is very relaxed and therapeutic. Soft music and soft lighting, the fragrant scent of essential oils, just like you would expect from a facility with class.
I’m going to buy a lottery ticket today, and if I win big I going to have a massage from Fusayo every week!

Welcome the hot herbal compress Thai massage; an amazing combination of herbal detox and bendy-​twisty stress reducing heaven.
Ninety minutes of pure bliss! Amor was truly intuitive with finding the gnarly knobs of tension in my shoulders, and eliminating them. Fragrant lemon grass smoothed my skin. Strong hands massaged away the day’s crap.
Sabai Thai is quiet, graceful and a truly relaxing oasis. Located on Marine Drive at McKay, this little gem is minimally furnished in dark woods and Thai silks. The staff are the stars here. Using mostly Eminence organic products, the wonderful and highly-​skilled staff offer a restorative break in our lives.

God a package with Groupon and was surprised by how well I was treated there. The massage was purely delightful and the facial left me practically glowing.
I really appreciated the fact that they treated me as a regular customer instead of just a «Groupon» customer as some other places do.
In fact I enjoyed it so much that I’m willing to pay the full price to get it again and in fact am getting it for my mother as well.
I definitely recommend this place to everyone, it’s truly worth it :)

My favourite place for a massage. Friendly and accommodating staff with very reasonable prices and packages. Most masseurs are Thai and I believe they will soon be incorporating registered massage therapists as well.
Far better service than many other over-​priced spas.

This is other one of the best massages that I have received at Sabai Thai Spa. Rebecca is my massage person. She does a wonderful job and knows just how much or little pressure is required to get an optimum effect. I would recommend anyone with deep muscle, tension or headaches to visit Sabai Thai Spa and try Rebeca, if you like a deep Massage. I had a Thai Massage, it’s amazing this massage give you back the mobility and peace that you desire.

I’ve been here twice in the last year with friends for the True Wellness package and enjoyed myself both times. The massage practioners are warm, friendly and skilled and the services offered are at reasonable prices. Oh, and the two girls I had were actually Thai :)
There are often group buy deals and unlike many other spa places, the deals are just as good as the regular services. No scrimping, cutting corners or creating «specials» just to draw in new customers, Sabai Thai has been honest with their business practices from what I’ve seen and that is definitely to be lauded. The Marine Drive location in North Vancouver is a bit small, with the main level appearing more like a retail storefront than a spa. The upstairs is where the magic happens and where patrons are brought after being plied with hot ginger tea and funky black spa slippers. There is one mat room for traditional Thai massages (during which they bend you like a bulk-​bin twist tie) and two other rooms with the usual massage tables. Sabai Thai isn’t as swanky as the higher-​end spas (Shangri-​La, Absolute Spa, Spa Utopia) but I actually like it better because it’s more intimate and down-​to-​earth; it doesn’t waste time trying to impress you with useless fluff like imported Italian marble floors laid by bare-​chested former Olympians or choke you with candles scented by «mountain breezes.» They simply offer good services in a simple setting.
There’s also a really small steam/​infrared (?) room on the main level which I’ve used once and it’s perfect for a couple or two close friends. The spa menu offers enough options for most people and the products they use are mostly Eminence, a good organic and natural skin care line. Overall Sabai Thai on Marine is a great place to bring moms and significant others because it’s cozy and the atmosphere is welcoming and non-​pretentious, therefore not overly-​girly or intimidating to the dude in your life. I’ll now be making this my usual go-​to in future and saving those crazy-​indulgent spa splurges for corporate events or very special and rare occassions.

I am always looking for the best (cheap) massage I can find. At $ 100 for a 90 minute Thai massage through Groupon, this was not only the best for the price, but the BEST massage I’ve ever had at any price. Leanna was awesome.

I had a wonderful massage and facial, very thorough and an excellent experience. It left me feeling like I was floating on air from a spa-​gasm, it was that good. The ginger tea at the end was such a nice touch after such friendly service, and I felt relaxed and comfortable sitting and sipping my tea. It is on the pricey side but well worth it. If you have a big thank you to give someone a gift certificate for a massage here is an amazing idea, and get one for yourself as well!

I bought a coupon to get Thai massage and facial done. Unfortunately, because it felt so good, I fell asleep so I can’t tell you in detail why it was good.
My friend and I went to the North Van location. The treatment rooms are quite small and there are two levels. My friend went to the back of ground floor and I was upstairs close to the staircase. Unfortunately, my friend didn’t have a good time as all she heard was vacuuming during her whole session. Her masseuse told her someone lives upstairs. Yet, I didn’t hear any vacuuming upstairs. Points deducted just because my friend didn’t have a good time.
They provide you with a ginger tea after your treatment and they don’t have a relaxing area for your after-​treatment. You just get to sit in the waiting area in front of the cashier while cars on Marine Drive zip by behind you.

Holy crap, I just had the best massage of my life at Sabai Thai Spa. I had the relaxation massage and I have never enjoyed a massage so much. Sylvia was my masseuse and she was amazing. I also loved the heated massage table. I wish I could have just slept there for a couple of hours after my appointment. That really should be an add on service. You have the option of buying 5 or 10 prepaid massages (or facials) at a discount, which I think you’ll want to invest in after your first massage.
