Mr. Pet’s

You’ll be able to find everything you need at Mr. Pets; though the staff is another story. The store is ran by teenagers chatting amongst themselves. Don’t bother waiting around for someone to come help you.

Brutal service. 3 staff stood at the front chatting while we tried to figure out dog food. No personality at all. We won’t be back!

The staff was knowledgeable and caring. They helped my 10 year old son get everything he needed. And when they were out of a particular product, the employee went in back and got some from the company stock and gave it to him.
Recommended. I’ll shop here again.

My husband and I recently got a puppy, so needless to say, we’ve spent some serious $ lately on pet supplies. We thought we had found a great brand of puppy food, so splurged on the gigantic $ 90 bag of it. Soon after, our pup developed some digestive issues. Imagine our disheartenment when the vet told us he was allergic to chicken; the primary ingredient in the dog food we had just bought. We figured it was money down the drain, and didnt think anything of it when we mentioned his allergy at Mr Pet’s. The manager, without skipping a beat, told us it was fine to return the dog food as long as the bag was at least half full. We were floored. Not only did we get our money back for all the dog food our puppy couldnt eat, she was also amazing with recommending alternative puppy food that contained no poultry. (He’s doing much better.) Also, while exchanging the unusable food for the new stuff, another employee who had overheard the situation dropped the name of a holistic veterinarian on the North Shore she thought we’d be interested in.
For their compassion and customer service, my husband and I have chosen to patronize Mr Pet’s almost exclusively from now on.

Good selection of stuff for pets. What more can you ask for… My dog gets excited to come help me pick our treats for him. Happy dog, happy owner.

Most stores will give u at least a 5% discount If you buy a flat (12to24 cans) of canned food or more, but they were unwilling. Their Prices are no different than other stores. I still went back, I’ve been there 3 times and only once was the staff helpful. Their selection is not great either. After my last visit i think I’m better off going to many of the the other pet stores in North Van.

Went here tonight because Bosley’s — where I have always shopped — closes at 6 on Saturdays — and I thought that maybe I’d give this place a shot. I did receive a hello from both employees on staff and both asked me if they could help. So, not bad there. But it seemed that they may not know their stock really well, which is what I would expect from a local store trying to beat out the big chains. I asked if they had our dog’s food in the size I get at Bosley’s. He checked and said no I guess we don’t carry that size. He had an immediate opportunity to introduce me to another similar high quality food in the 12−15lb bag range, but did not think of it. I then asked the other employee for soft slicker brushes, and she just pointed me to where they are. But no follow-​up as to what is a good brush, what I need to consider etc. I did buy something else, but if they had engaged me I would have dropped another $ 60 tonight. No problem with attitude or anything but they just did not seem engaged/​trained — I’ll likely just go back to Bosley’s as a regular customer.

Bad Choice. We just moved to Van from the Okanagan and always like supporting locally owned stores. I looked around and found a place called ‘Mr. Pet’s’. sounded good. but, Big Mistake. They were really low on stock and they had probably the worst customer service I’ve had in a really long time. There were 3 teenagers manning the store and they couldn’t even lift they’re slack bodies from leaning on the counters to say hi to us. We spent about 15 minutes alone in the leash and collar aisle. needing help. We have a dog that has some pulling and barking issues and needed to upgrade his leash and collar. needless to say, we were going to pay at least $ 60 on that stuff alone. Never once did one of those three idiots come to see if we needed help at all. We had some other items we had grabbed, but because of the service I was so mad I dropped everything where we stood and decided to leave. drive down the street and give our money to the big chain.
As we were leaving… (the three young employees still basically laying on the front counter gossiping) still didn’t say anything to us. I gave a very sarcastic «Thanks Guys». and to my amazement the one chick actually said «You’re Welcome», like she did something? No clue! They either deserve the worst employee’s ever award, or the worst training possible award, not sure which they deserve more.
And may I add, that when we entered that big chain down the road a ways, we were immediately greeted by a lovely employee. shown to what we needed and he even got a hold of their trainer to better help us choose.
I will never go back to Mr. Pet’s again. and a word to the owner. please think a little harder about who you have as your front line to your business. They don’t seem to care much about your reputation or your business.
