Lately, I’ve been a sucker for South and Central American food… a friend told me his mom has a spot in the Lonsdale Quay Market(Peruvian friend)… so… have to go! So… I’m a fan of hand food… burgers, tacos… whatever, it’s easy to eat, and easy to walk around with… in South America… that usually becomes an empanada. I had a few last weekend from a Colombian food truck in Portland, and now… Peruvian style ones… The wife had a combo of a beef empanada and soup(vegetable lentil), and I just had a beef empanada(I had just eaten a little while ago… and was hoping to walk around the market for a bit… maybe a bit of Lonsdale, and THEN stop by… but no… straight to the food). The meat in the empanada was GREAT… nicely seasoned… just really flavourful. My only complaint would be that it felt like there was too much pastry around it. The soup… was ok. Decent flavour… the veggies might have been frozen ones, but it was pretty good overall. Next time around… would definitely try a fruit pie(they seem to have more meat pies, and fruit pies… just the addition of chicken and beef empanadas on the menu). Will come back…
