Description

Specialties

We make authentic Turkish cuisine, focusing on the best the country has to offer, and serve it in a warm, intimate setting. We complement the dishes with a well-chosen inexpensive wine list and innovative cocktails, as well as traditional Turkish libations.

We take reservations for parties of up to 15 people, but resos are not a necessity.

History

Established in 2011.

Latif Budak, a Turkish born and trained chef, and Mark Thompson, with a long history in the Vancouver restaurant business, partnered up to open Divan Kitchen in North Vancouver. Our goal is to bring authentic Turkish cuisine to the community with a focus on using the freshest products delivered at a reasonable price.

Meet the Business Owner

Latif B.

Business Owner

Latif was born in the seaside city of Mersin, where he grew up, enjoying the bucolic seaside in the company of family and friends. Latif’s love for cooking arose at his mother’s elbow, where he learned the essentials of Turkish cuisine. Latif honed his skills in a 5 year technical chef academy, and later obtained a degree in food science in the city of Aydin.

Latif moved to Canada in 2003, working in a variety of restaurants before striking out on his own in 2008 with his own shop in Yaletown.
