Today’s special: $ 5.95 cod and fries. Well, okay, the fries had been sitting so they were just dropped back into the fryer — double deep fried, just how I like ‘em. The cod I’m sure was from a frozen food box as the crust was a little too perfect. It was delicious though. BTW, what’s with these fast food outlets asking for tips??? NO!!! Bring it to my table along with water and I’ll think about it. Greedy!

Needed to do some shopping here at cap mall but I wanted to have lunch first. They’ve been open for over a year but been reluctant to go because I’ve never been a huge fan of fish & chips. I came here on Friday and noticed they were having a special for poutines. I decided to give it a benefit of a doubt. The staff were really friendly and their prices were competitive at best. After munching down on their poutine, I personally think it’s pretty average and that the New York Fries has better fries in their poutines.

I had some time to kill before my business meeting that wasn’t too far from the mall, therefore, killed some time by browsing. This was one of the stores that I visited the mall. Very cheap and decently priced fish and chips. I had a 4 pack to go with the sushi that I got from Sushi town for a pre-party meal later this evening with my best friend and I. I snuck a little piece of the fish which was nicely battered and seasoned.

The batter really is tasty, the portions sizes generous, the fries delicious, the tartar sauce good but sadly the fish(Cod) was ancient and rank tasting obviously the cheapest they could source. So I’ll come back one day but not any time soon too much choice in this city to put up with someone’s low standards.

The lovely atmosphere of The Crispy Cod in Capilano mall has made my experience at ordering and eating they product a hundred times better. Their fish is battered by their employees and doesn’t come already frozen. The way that this fish and chips is prepared its spot on with what I personally enjoy, crunchy but soft too. Thank you for the great service great experience and amazing food see you soon.

I realize that many people may be wondering… what…SCRUMPTIOUS fish and chips in a mall’s food court??? But Yes, this is true! The Crispy Cod delivers. I even took my Mother-in-law(who is a fish and chips lover, and snob) and she loved it! She’s even taken some of her friends there… yes, i know… who goes to a mall’s food court for great fish and chips right! 1. I can’t believe that i actually preferred the cod to the halibut! Guess that’s why it’s called the crispy cod and not the crispy halibut! The pieces are well sized, and unlike many other fish-and-chip places, where the sizes appear large because of the puffy batter, here, you’re paying for fish… all fish! The batter is delicious… its crispy and light, and you don’t feel gross and sick after eating! 2. Chips are great, hand cut and not too fat and not too thin! 3. The service… what, great service from a food court stall… yes, and if you do get to talk to the delightful Aly, he’ll just enhance your meal. Obviously the man knows a thing or two about serving a customer! 4. the Price… well, you’re getting quality and taste that you would normally pay double the amount if this was a standalone restaurant. My advice, go there now(especially when they have a deal on Tuesdays) to get some of the best fish and chips in town. I also really enjoyed the chowder… it’s a bit different… something about it, so give it a try. And I heard they’ll be getting a gluten free batter soon! Hurry down to Cap Mall to try this place out… You’re stomach will thank you!
