The butter tarts are truly the best I’ve had and Huge! The service at the Fruit Shack is so friendly and the meat is delicious as well as healthier than other alternatives. I prefer the fruits and veg at the Fruit Shack to Harvest Barn because you know for sure that it is locally grown and delicious. The jams were great and low in sugar but you can’t tell because they use all ripened fruit. All in All this is a must stop for Niagara Region.

I really love buying fresh produce from independent sellers and carts in the Niagara region. I love this place. Like Alex V. says, the staff are really friendly and nice. I bought some delicious strawberries and cherries, and oddly butter tarts(even before I read Alex’s review). The butter tarts are delicious. They had walnuts and raisins in them. Next time I’ll try the lemon tarts, which also looked delicious. They take cash or debit(I think), no credit cards.(for those who are wondering).

I just love the friendly staff at this market. They carry a variety of delicious treats, produce, meats, breads, herbs, and of course — those amazing tarts! I have been lucky to find some of my favourite herbs there and to try an interesting cilantro flavoured sparkling water. The tarts are always perfect and I should know to buy a dozen at a time. I’m going this weekend, so I will! Zach P. is brilliant — I should have had buttertart favours as well. We got married close by at White Oaks and the tarts are a tradition for us every time we visit. :)

We stopped by the Fruit Shack on a whim during the Ice Wine Festival. Since it was the dead of winter, there wasn’t much fruit around, but there were delicious butter tarts that were among the best butter tarts I’ve ever tasted. The very centre of each tart was more liquid than solid, which my friend told me is what a good butter tart should be, and after tasting it, I totally believe her. They also had a variety of specialty meats, cookies/crackers, and oat/grain cereals, but I didn’t try any of those. I can’t wait to pass by again, hopefully in summer, to see what fresh fruits they are selling.
