Between The Lines

This is an excellent small business ownership winery. The owner/​winemaker gave us a very personal and informative tasting. I love his candor. He explained the nuances of decisions he makes. They have some great wines. To name a few, the Pinot Noir and the sparkling are outstanding… It’s a great stop, do not miss this.

Came here as part of the winery tour offered by the hotel. Was our last winery stop before going back to the hotel. Our tour guide was very good and all wines tasted good. To be a new winery their wine taste really good. The winemaker and owner was present when we where at the tour but never presented himself or talk to us i think he should approach us and welcome us. The icewine they offer is really good and inexpensive. Higly recommended

Spent the weekend touring NOTL. After receiving four recommendations from other wineries to visit BTL we decided to stop in. The winery is set back past the family home. Once inside, we found the tasting area to be cozy and inviting. The wine processing area was visible from the tasting area. Due to it being the off season, we were lucky to have the winemaker, Yannick conduct our wine tasting. He was able to convey in simple terms to this novice the basics of wine making.
The wines available for tasting were absolutely wonderful. With each wine, Yannick was able to describe the process for harnessing the particular flavor he was trying to achieve.
A must see winery!
p. s. I think marketing yourself with tee-​shirts hats, etc may be something to think about. I definitely would have bought one.

After a visit to another winery, we changed our plan for the day to visti this winery and the other newer wineries near it. All that we knew was that it was a newer winery and that it came recommended.
When we walked in, we were promptly greeted and brought over to one of the three areas that they had set up for tasting. There is a fee for tasting, but they waive the fee if you buy wine. I love Cab Franc and their reserve did not disappoint. It was full bodied and flavorful without being overwhelming. Even my non dry red drinking husband enjoyed it. Our mutual favorite was their ice wine. It was sweet and tasty. We ended up trying a few others that were tasty as well, but our purchase was the Cab Franc and the ice wine.
One of the sons/​owners is who did our tasting. It was fun getting information about the name of the winery and family history about the farm.
I’d come back for a visit and have already recommended it to friends.

Between The Lines is a relatively small winery but has a good range of wines, including dry whites, sweet whites, reds, and ice wines. They also are the maker of Izumi wines.
When we arrived, we were met by a young man who was friendly, but not overly so. They have a full tasting menu, small in comparison to some larger wineries but you can taste everything they carry so that’s definitely a plus.
Their tastings are $ 1 a piece flat but if you purchase around $ 30 worth of wine or more they waive that fee, which with the flavor profile in their wines is really easy to do.
I didn’t do the tour as it was raining so I couldn’t say what it’s like, but it’s a $ 5 tour that takes about 30 minutes from what I could find out.
Overall, I think I’ll be back. I only got two bottles of wine, one of each ice wine, and that’s all I could do with my budget but my friends got some other wines which I would also have gotten if I could.
My rating is closer to a 3.5 than 3.

This is a small family run winery, it’s a must stop — they were the only vineyard that took the time to talk to us and explain the entire process. Great Wine, we picked up a number of bottles to take home :)

Because of a recommendation from a tasting room employee (at another winery) we visited ‘Between-​the-​Lines’ and were pleasantly surprised!
The relatively new family estate winery is located close to the town of Virgil and produces very nice white wines, a delicious Pinot Noir and an outstanding ice wine you shouldn’t miss.
The contemporary setting and atmosphere is a very refreshing diversion to all other wineries in the area. Moreover you have the chance to meet the vintners in person and chat with them about wine making and their short but very successful wine making history. Overall this winery is still off-​the-​beaten-​path and uncommercial two facts I really appreciate.
I highly recommend my followers to try their whites (e.g. the Vidal and Chardonnay), the Pinot Noir and their two ice wines (Vidal and the rare Gewürztraminer).

We decided to visit this winery as part of the Niagara Wine Festival Discovery pass.
The winery is quaint with a nice family charm to it. Two young brothers run the winery however we actually got to meet with their mother who told us the story of how things came to be and we couldn’t help but love the whole story, and the fact that the wines were also all top notch as well. We tried a Riesling (which was my favourite), a Pinot Noire, and a Rose, all of which were quite good and worth buying a bottle of.
While it’s a smaller facility, the warmth of the people and tastiness of the wine definitely warrants a visit!

This winery is very new and is run by two brothers. The wine maker himself (Yannick) ran the tasting and it was really informative to hear him talk about starting up his winery.
The ice wine here was excellent and the price was very affordable, especially in comparison to many of the larger wineries in the area.
A definite winery to visit.

My wife and I stopped at this winery during a tour of Niagara-​on-​the-​Lake wineries. It is a VERY small, family-​owned place with only about 4 full-​time employees. But, despite the lack of fancy facilities or a four-​star eatery, this place makes GREAT wine. The two brothers who run it are graduates of both Niagara and German post-​secondary wine programs. They know their stuff and are not afraid to break with the norm to create a better tasting wine. Their white Noir wine (yes, a white red wine!) was SO tasty and surprising. And, their Lemgerger was a real treat — and is very limited, so get some quick! Altogether a terrific tasting and learning experience.

This family-​owned vineyard is a little setback from other vineyards and its a little newer than the others we visited, but it was still just as nice. We sampled their Merlot, Cab-​Franc, and Icewine. We really liked the knowledge and descriptions Yannick provided us from all the wines their vineyard offered.
Wine tasting: We weren’t too crazy about the taste of their Cab-​Franc. We did however, think the Icewine and Merlot were nice and bought a bottle each.
They use plastic caps rather than wood corking for most of their wines (except for the pricier wines such as the icewine) and poured the two red’s into the same cup without rinsing… I would have liked to have tried the wines in different cups. I’m sure they offer a wine tour but they were a bit short-​staffed and we wanted to be on our way so we didn’t do the wine tour.
