A major dive. I dunno why the Save On on 6th closed and not this one. This used to be IGA. It’s simply awful… more like a cheap No Frills. Area is also shady. Avoid.

Solid 3.5 stars. Newer one, spacious and bright. Free 2 hour parking underground will be handy for the upcoming rainy season. Produce neat and tidy on the left side. Actually the wooden trim inside is nice.

Worst selection ever, poorly laid out and lit. You walk out of there feeling like you need a shower, would only shop there again if I had too

I have been here a few times, however, it’s not as bad as people make it out to be in terms of product. It is well spaced and things are easy to find. My main issue with this place is the price point. Don’t call yourself save on foods if you aren’t going to be cheap. It was way too over priced that I gave up on grocery shopping and just waited until I came home to go to Extra Foods.

I miss you, Thrifty’s. You had great quality and awesome diversity at low prices. Since Save On took over, prices have edged higher and the products just don’t seem as fresh. Products are kept on the shelf longer; I almost bought sour cream with a best-before date less than a week away. The breakfast sandwiches are often left out for days. The paninis are lower in quality and interest, and now some contain lettuce, which forms an unattractive gel-like substance when heated. They also reduced the hours from 24h, which doesn’t affect me, but you know — this entire change of hands was premised on the idea that if Thrifty’s/Sobey’s had a monopoly on the market, it would be anti-competitive and bad for consumers. I think making it a Save On was much worse. Caveat emptor. Check for freshness.

This location is the old Thrifty’s. We came here only b/c they gave us a $ 10 coupon in the mail to see their new stores acquired through the governments grocery store shuffle. Some product that Thriftys carried are still here but very few. Terra bread for example was here but 50¢ more. Other products carried by most stores are here as well but again 30 ¢ -$ 1 or even more. Meat in particular was very expensive. Yes its true that some flyer prices are good & get price matched at Superstore but overall SOF s prices are higher. Staff are ok here & store nice & clean but still better deals are at SS&Costco. 1 bonus star was for the $ 10 coupon incentive that came in the mail.
