Established in 2012.

David Fairbairn has been inspecting houses in the Greater Vancouver area since 2012. Prior to that he worked with commercial heating and cooling systems. He has inspected thousands of condos, townhouses and detached homes, as well as office buildings and warehouses.

Certified Home Inspector David Fairbairn is a Vancouver building expert, and has been featured on Global TV News and in the 24 Newspaper. He brings a passion for a «job well done» to every inspection and works hard for you — the customer!

David was born and raised in the Lower Mainland and knows the the area intimately. His background is in Power Engineering, working in large Commercial buildings.

After becoming a licensed Home Inspector, David quickly gained a reputation as a «first-​call» Inspector with many top-​producing real estate agents, due to his professionalism and deep knowledge of buildings.

David lives in New Westminster, BC, with his wife Vashti, and their two children, Bradley and Clara.

David upgrades his training annually, and through additional seminars and conferences. He is committed to stay on top of developments in home building, renovation trends and green building practices.

Me and my family is buying a house in Surrey and we found David on Unilocal.We are a first te home buyer with little knowledge about house construction. We do not know any inspection so we look up reviews on Unilocal.David has had great reviews so we decide to contact him.
The onspection went very well. David is a professional at his work. We follow him around the house when he did the inspection and he explain the inspection process in detail, answer us questions and give us advice on how to fix things.
We got our inspectio report right away after we done. Because of his careful inspection and troughout report, we are able to convinc the seller to reduce the price of the house down a bit to cover some of the fixing cost.
We would recoomend David to our friends and whoever want to buy a house :)

We recently hired David to inspect a town house in Langley, that we were considering buying, and were extremely satisfied with the service.
We were initially concerned since we were out of town buyers and couldn’t be present for the inspection. But David put our mind at ease by agreeing to have our realtor and a friend present for the inspection. He even allowed our friend to crawl into the attic with him to inspect the roof.
At the end of the 3 hour inspection, we were emailed a detailed report and David even spent close to an hour on the phone walking us through each and every page in the report and answering all our questions. He also gave us some handy tips on preventative home maintenance. This was above and beyond what we had expected.
It was clear to us that David is passionate about what he does and has his client’s best interests at heart.
We couldn’t have been happier with David’s services and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a quality home inspection.

Recently bought a home in Port Moody and had David as our home inspector. David was extremely thorough with his work. We showed up about 2 hours into the inspection and David was ready to show us the home. He was extremely detail oriented and showed us through the entire home. He was very knowledgeable and had recommendations and instructions on how to deal/​fix every problem found. He even put together a super detailed PDF, documenting the entire inspection. The document included pictures of found issues, certain material qualities, ie. Piping grade (for insurance reference), and even diagrams for DIY fixes. I would definitely recommend David as a top tier home inspector! So glad we found him.

When my husband and I purchased our new home, we chose David for our home inspection due to his good reviews and we were not disappointed. David arrived early and took a look at a few obvious problems like the roof and was ready for us when we arrived. He did a complete walk through with us and found lots of problems we would not have noticed ourselves. He also gave us tons of useful information about things we could do to maintain our home. We used David at the recommendation of our realtor and I am so glad we did. My husband and I are new to the home buyers market and we had no idea what to expect when buying a 40 year old home in Port Coquitlam. In addition to the great inspection, David is friendly, had a great personality and really helps to put you at ease through this stressful process.
I truly cannot believe how thorough David was. We stayed for the whole inspection and David took the time to explain every single detail that he found. He was’t afraid to crawl into the really small, dark and dusty places, and at the same time he took care not to move or damage anything.
At the end of the inspection (4 hrs later), David produced a report instaneously, complete with pictures, guides on what to was important to fix and what was a safety concern etc. He took payment straight away with a credit card and before we even drove off, we had report and receipt in hand.

Excellent experience from booking to the inspection to the aftercare. Dave is a true professional, very personable and really great at providing the best education on my prospective home.
I was a little skeptical with all the positive reviews, however it was the best decision and my realtor even commented on what a great find he is and had taken his details for future use and recommendations.
After the inspection, Dave walked thru the report before he sent a digital copy to me and best practice advise on preserving the longevity on the property.

The house that we are going to buy was once a grow op and we were pretty worried about the damage that it may have caused.
Although the city passed the air, water and mold tests, we were still a bit anxious about what else lurked in places we could not see or know about.
I called David and what a wonderful person to work with.
He was very thorough and explained everything to us. His extensive report was very easy to understand, it also included great, clear pictures.

We are first-​time home buyers and found David on Unilocal.We were quite skeptical initially on how someone can get so many 5-​star reviews but we thought it’s better than those without any reviews. It was the BEST decision we have ever made.
Our entire experience from our initial contact with David to the home inspection this morning was nothing but perfect. David has the most amazing range of testing instruments for almost everything. He is very thorough, tests everything (all the appliances, heating, plumbing) and climbs everywhere possible (roof, attic). He is very friendly, trustworthy and professional. Buying a house is a strenuous, torturous, stressful, and down right nerve-​racking ordeal. When you’re spending that much money and making that kind of commitment to a purchase you wan’t to know it’s not a lemon. That’s where home inspectors come in. Like car mechanics, you want one that’s reputable, dependable, and trust worthy. David instantly puts you at ease, he’s affable, charming, and engaging in a way that just resonates with someone that’s in your corner.
Throughout the inspection process, David explained each step and what he was looking for, what it could mean, and how to evaluate it. If there’s something wrong, you’ll understand what it means. His report is clear, concise, and includes pictures of the defects. In my case, there was water marks on the ceiling, which David quickly called out as probable issue with the dryer. He produced a thermal camera, which quickly illustrated the path the dryer vent took and the issue at hand, allowing us to discover the dryer booster fan was improperly functioning. He discovered moisture in a wall, detecting a pin hole leak early that saved significant pain later. I feel significantly more confident in my purchase thanks to David, and would recommend him to anyone needing a home inspector in the area.

David is definitely the best house inspection I have ever hired by following reasons:
1) While he was inspecting the house, he explained in details of every corner of the house.
2) He always tried to check everything he could reach. He stayed in attic for more than 10 minutes in order to check some old water problems and insulation materials.
3) Any house has problems, however, for a house buyer, it is important to know which problem is serious problem and which one is repairable or acceptable. He found several problems of the house but still told us the house is overall in good condition. Not all house inspectors give opinions.
4) David is also very accessible. Before inspection, he scheduled the date promptly and after inspection, he also answered us a few questions within one week.
So, based on his inspection, we pulled the trigger and removed subjects. Definitely highly recommended.

Worth every penny!
My wife and I were first time homebuyers and contacted David from Fairbairn Inspection Services to inspect our house-​to-​be. Even though it was a pre-​sale home and we were to be the first owners ever of our detached house we decided paying for a home inspector was a worthy investment. David was thorough, explained what was done well in our home and what was not done so well. He took pictures and documented all his recommendations, the most important being the lack of downspouts on our roof leading to the eaves troughs.
At the advice of David, we spoke to the developer about the lack of downspouts which we did get while no one else in our development did! The squeaky wheel gets the grease so to speak. That alone was worth the investment of hiring David to inspect our new home.
