Beefeater’s Chop House & Grill

5 Stars! — Walking our dog around the area today and we saw the wonderful Patio setup, on a whim we asked if we would be able to sit outside expecting an answer of no — since dogs are almost never allowed anywhere near a restaurant in Canada. To my very pleasant surprise we were told that dogs ARE allowed so long as they are on the far side of the patio. The dog is expected to be under control, not drinking from the dishes (they do have a dog bowl there as well) and they allow you to tie the dog a few feet from your chair on the rail. As for the food, my Wife and I enjoyed an excellent snack and a very tasty double Espresso which was probably the best coffee I have had to date in Nanaimo. The view is excellent with little boats and a great view of Newcastle Island, you couldn’t ask for more.
Normally I do not write reviews for a business however when I see intelligence, excellent service and good food in a single place I feel it would be unfair to not share this with others. If I had three thumbs they would all be up! I hope you will support them as I will be from here in.

Certainly is not the nicest décor but a lovely oceanfront location. Food is alright. Booze is alright. I’d stop by if in the area but wouldn’t make a special trip here.

Excellent and attentive service and a delicious meal! However the management needs to take some time to bring the facility up to par with the quality of the food and service. The ladies bathroom shares space with empty beer botttles and black garbage bags. They also have not taken the time to patch up the wall from some plumbing issues behind the toilet. The chairs are in need of some TLC with either a coat of paint or stain.

Family dinner (early birthday dinner for my Dad). The décor is a bit dated, my chair was super wobbly and squeaky.
I may have become a bit of a snob living in Vancouver for the past ten years… but quite a few of the chairs were dirty. The glassware on the table was super worn. And Taupe as a table cloth colour is well… dated.
Our server was SUPER NICE and polite.
Starter salad, um… nice slice of tomato on that… looks like a slice of tomato for a hamburger. Actually the whole salad was like all the fixings you would put on a hamburger, just on a plate. Definitely some Sysco brand salad dressing out of a can happening here.
I had the beef tenderloin. This cut was GREAT. Had it natural, no peppercorn, no thing, just perfectly flame kissed. Perfectly rare. The rest of the fam had the Prime Rib dinner; Prime Rib is not really my thing so I won’t comment.
Tenderloin was bo$$.
Pop refill. Yup.
Would I eat here again.

We went to beefeaters for a company christmas party. The service was great the atmosphere was great, the food was so so but over all it was a good experience.

Don’t let the name or dodgy exterior fool you.
Beefeater’s Seaside Bar and Grill offers excellent quality Mediterranean inspire food.
They have a lovely outdoor lovely patio and the interior is large and well laid out.
The service — excellent, friendly and knowledgeable!
We had — fish and chips, house special prawn and avocado salad was perfect.
Delicious wine by the glass, non-​alcoholic beer and fresh water.
The prices are very good.
Nanaimo consistently comes out ahead for me with their restaurant food quality, service and pricing.

This place was fantastic. Great food, great service and very efficient on what seemed like a very busy lunch. We will definitely be back soon.
I suggest: calamari, shrimp club, the amazing fries!
