#YELPOWEEN2015

Haven’t had so much fun in a long time! Although I missed out on the first part, am soooo glad that I made it to Unilocaloween!
It was a whirlwind of non-​stop lip sync gigs performed by the talented contestants, great musical selection, jaw dropping performance by Montréal Drag Queen Extraordinaire Crystal Slippers, ghoulish make up creations, a smörgåsbord of costumes, disguises and engaging people dancing their feet away on and off the stage in the dark yet intimate setting of Katakomb — filling us with awe, amazement and belly laughs all at the same time!
Oh forgot that I was also able to indulge in delicacies prepared by Gado Gado, Imadake and sampled plenty of beer from Brasseurs Illimités (Stout was particularly tasty). And most importantly got to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones!
What can I say, this was exactly the «medecine» that you’d expect from a well executed Unilocal event — especially after a really tough work week. The only thing that I would change would to applause based voting system rather than sticker count for the best performance of the evening.
Risa and team, once again, thank you for making this a memorable event. You keep on outdoing yourselves every time !!!

Katacombes is a tiny little venue but it did not, at all, feel crowded. I was holding my jacket and large bag, but I didn’t feel I was hurting anyone. I think.
Thank you to the lovely Montréal food/​drinks venders! And the makeup artists! Everyone and everything was so perfect!
I don’t normally party but when I do, I party with Unilocal

So this was my first Unilocal Event in the city and it surely did not disappoint! The Katacombes venue had a cool layout where you can go upstairs and watch the fun from about. It was pretty fitting for the spooky theme.
Good: The food at Gado Gado and Imadake was delicious, I think I’ve gone back a couple of times, even sending people to go grab more food for me. Unfortunately I don’t drink, so I wasn’t able to sample the beers and sake bombs. I didn’t see the chocolate sample section, sadly I’ve missed out. The zombie make up station was amazing. There was a bit of a waiting line, but no more than 10 minutes. The make up artists did a phenomenal job! Fun fact: my boyfriend’s make up attracted a lot of uncomfortable stares in the metro and made two girls scream in the metro. One guy even approached him to ask if he needed help. It was so gruesome and well done!
The music was on point, a solid mix of old and new. I think after a few sake bombs and beer, the crowd was moving and grooving. The lip sync battle was so much fun, but the highlight was watching the fabulous Crystal Slippers’ performance. It was my first drag performance, and it was so entertaining!
Bad: Error 303: Bad vibes not found.
Bottom Line: I had a great time, I still talk about how much fun I’ve had at a party where I didn’t really know anyone. I’m glad to meet my fellow Unilocalers, and shout out to all the organizers for such a fantastic event. Can’t wait til the next one and see everyone again!

This year once again, the Unilocal team prepared a great Halloween evening party filled with local beer, chocolates, sake bombs, food samples, good music and entertainment! The Katacombes was a good choice for the venue, dark and Halloween-​y, featuring a dance floor for the party animals and a second level for Unilocalers seeking a more relaxed location.
Although the atmosphere of most Unilocal parties tend to be impersonal, we made friends and we had a lot of fun. Best of all, although we’ve been married for almost two years now, it was the first time my husband danced with me at a party, him usually being too shy to join the action. So thank you Unilocal for making this happen! ;)
A big thanks to Risa and co for all their work, and a round of applause to all the ones who wore costumes. Our praise goes especially to Bernie Sanders aka Aron, for my husband and I just can’t resist political humor!
A suggestion? Hmm, perhaps more vegetarian food options would have been nice. But I won’t push it — I know we’re a minority. It still doesn’t hurt to ask, I suppose!

Pas aussi «big» que l’an dernier, mais Ohhhh que super le fun et bien organisé! J’ai eu du plaisir à boire des Saké bomb et prendre des bouché du Imadake un de mes restos favori Miamm. Les serveuses de brasseurs illimité étaient super gentille et connaissaient bien leur produit. Et le staff des Katakombes wow super gentil et intéressant. Une belle ambiance festive!
Merci Risa et Anastasia pour l’organisation de ce super party. J’ai déja hâte à l’an prochain!!!

It was cute & funny! Everyone all dressed up and having a good time! Happy halloween !
I love the lip sync contest. Too bad the lyrics were not displayed. it would be more fair because some of the people showed a lot of enthusiasm but didn’t know the words so the winners obviously won because they knew the words to the songs!!!
Cute costumes and it was really cool to see Unilocalers in real life ;p
The place was spooky and fit the halloween theme.
The food option were very limited:(but the things served from imadake was great!!! I heard a lot of positive things about that restaurant and will definitely check it out !! It’s bookmarked: p
Overall, i was very fascinated with the entire event and how well organized it was ! I cant wait for the next Unilocaloween!!! xD

great event as always and when alcohol is involved, always a funny sight to see Unilocalers and elites go. and the private elite lounge wasn’t so elite after all. it’s nitpicking but at any other kind of event, if you’re not VIP, you ain’t getting in no matter what unless you’re a hot drunk half naked girl. security check wasn’t up to par here. that lounge was why I went so it was fucking disappointing to see people barge in.
other than that, some got high on cider. and did I saw panda and a spaceman? yes I did so I wasn’t too far gone

My first Canadian Unilocal party and they impressed me! Risa didn’t dissapoint and made it a night to remember. Althought the food and beverage stands weren’t there in big numbers, those who did came brought enough to keep everybody satisfied throughout the night.
In terms of entertainement, it was awesome. You could win prizes during the night and there was a dance/​lip sync off that yours truly won :-).
What way to finalize a short visit to Montréal and experience some of that Canadian hospitality!

Let’s be honest, if you didn’t have fun then that was your own doing. Food and drink at this event wasn’t my favorite but the Sake Bombs and Octopus Balls saved the day. Perfect venue choice considering it’s a skull decorated castle look all year round (bonus points for the arcade game at 25 cents a pop). The «Elite Lounge» did leave much to be desired but I consider that a bonus anyways. Would have liked if the costume contestants got a vote-​by-​audience instead of just based on the stickers because I feel that most people weren’t really focused on that sticker aspect. SO HAPPY to get to watch a drag lip sync, I’m pretty sure I was the only one in the crowd screaming for Ru Paul when the Lipsync-​for-​your-​life reference was made. All in all, some yummyness, great costumes, epic dance moves (shout out to Anny T for real).

It was quite the ecclectic mix of treats that guests were invited to sample. From the Indonesian and Japanese snacks that were addictive, the sake bombs that were THE bomb, and the chocolates that were simply smooooth. Oh and Simple Malt that does microbreweries proud. The venue was awesome too; can’t think of a better place for a Halloween party. Thank you for the party!

The journey to the Catacombs was a successful expedition. A variety of samples of local brews and sake bombs were collected for further study. I’m sure the research will provide challenging yet rewarding. I’m proud to report that jubilant life forms were found! Their leader was most welcoming and provided entertainment and guidance. The natives were all dressed differently and were very welcoming…
On a serious note, great party. I had a great time. Glad to see the usual crowd of misfits dressed up and having a good time as well as meet a bunch of new faces. Halloween parties rock. Catacombs was a smaller venue compared to last year but it was just as fun. Thanks for organizing this one Risa, much obliged. Thanks for the local institutions coming here and providing samples of their good, it was pretty awesome.

This was my first Unilocal Halloween party and I had a great time! The Katacombes venue was an interesting choice, and was appropriately decked out with all manner of Halloween decorations, complete with pillars of skulls, though I don’t know, that might be there all the time.
It was neat to try the veggie samples from Gado Gado. Imadake had people on-​site providing the izakaya experience with sake bombs and takoyaki (no comment on that last part because I don’t eat squid). I had the chance to taste some interesting regional chocolate from Vietnam, courtesy of La Tablette de Miss Choco. I also got to try Brasseurs Illimités’ Altbier, which was very tasty. La Confiserie Candylabs had sealed zipper bag samplers of their tasty candy nibs, cool Halloween-​themed designs like pumpkins and bats! Unfortunately the people from Carré Confiserie couldn’t be there, but luckily they prepared a few trays of gummy bear shots.
It was a night of firsts for me: first visit to Katacombes, first sake bomb (possibly first sake at all), first Indonesian food, first lip sync contest, first time I dressed as Bernie Sanders, and first live drag performance viewing.
Thanks to Risa, Anastasia, Ed, Kassandra, and all the Unilocal crew for putting on such a fun event! Thanks also to all the Unilocalers old and new that I got to meet. See you at the next event!

YEAHHHHHHH! Best Unilocal party so far! We had a blast!
OK, those sake bombs pack a punch! Tons of fun bar-​pounding for effect with Imadake Japanese pub, leaving me with some good head pounding this morning.
Also, chicken sushi? Who knew! It was deeeeelicious with a healthy dose of lemongrass, and it was even better when my partner figured out that you’re supposed to *remove* the piece of grass wrapping before eating. ahahha! MMMM! Thanks Gado-​Gado — you guys rock!
I have to make special mention here of my guy, the zombie makeup artist extraordinaire, Vague —
. Brother was ON HIS GAME. He did an epic job of giving me a full-​length, gory face gash and nice, neat bullet hole in the head for my partner.
Simple Malt kept us frothing at the mouth all night long, too — fave choice of all their samplers was the red — thanks, guys!
It was soooooooooo much fun watching the lip sync competition and even more fun watching the FABULOUS drag queen extraordinaire, CRYSTAL SLIPPER! You, my dear, are one helluva performer — made the night so good.
Also, those adorable Halloween-​themed hard candies from CandyLabs were the BEST candies I’ve ever tasted, especially the fizzy rootbeer flavoured one! I was popping sugar like mad on the metro ride home while strangers stared at my face in horror and shock.
Congrats, Risa, on another smashing event — this one was by far my favourite of all that I’ve been to. Yowwwwwww-​owww-​owww-​ooooooooooo!

Halloween à son meilleur, grâce à Unilocal et des partenaire extraordinaire !!
J’arrive en retard (8hr20 au lieu de 7hr) et la party est déjà «pogné solide»! Après quelques bouchés et 2 Saké Boum… je vais à la rencontre des habitués et amis et de plein de nouveaux visages. Les Unilocaleurs de Montréal sont vraiment épatants…
Pour cette soirée presque parfaite, j’ai une mention spéciale pour l’équipe de maquilleuse qui sans arrêt, c’est évertuée à nous zombifier tout au long de la soirée!!!
Encore cette année malgré c’est effort sur humain notre astronaute Jason n’a pas réussi à gagner pour le plus beau costume. Il a été attaqué par un panda d’un dynamisme digne de Kung-​fu Panda.
