sausage! this place is a sausage vendor as well as a sandwich shop. in it, you can grab sausages to be cooked/grilled at home or you can order one of their sausage sandwich with a choice of condiments, i usually go sauerkraut, dijon mustard and shitload of spicy heat. to be frank, inexpensive yet filling sandwich but not really that spicy as the vinegary sauerkraut cut the heat by a lot. anyway, its tasty and one of the cheaper food option in the market

We had the smoked meat sandwich, it was delicious! They serve it on a French baguette, with your choice of mustard, we added sauerkraut and hot peppers, yum! Way better then Schwart’s!!!

Great choices for meat. If you’re going on a picnic, try the dry cured sausage(saucisson) — -tried the Pamplemouse IPA(grapfruit IPA) which was really really tasty.

There are sausages, and then there are the creamiest, juiciest most tender sausages created at the WJW artisanal shops. No sinewy parts here, just the most delightful, flavourful texture to hit your palette. I like too many to list, but one favorite is the Toulouse style. I like preparing these accompanied by fresh, buttered asparagus with scalloped potatoes a la Julia Child and a nice crisp, chilled bottle of Aveleda Vinho Verde wine for an elegant but simple comfort dish. A visit to the Jean-Talon market is incomplete without a stop here.

This shop was recommended to us by a local in the market. So glad we stopped in. We had a sausage sandwich on their crusty baguette that was out of this world. Can’t wait to come back!

This is the best spot to get a filling sausage sandwich at the Jean Talon Market. You pay inside the little shop and they give you a ticket to take out to the guy or gal cooking and serving up the sausages. The bread is really a great piece of baguette and the sausages selection has several to choose from: swiss, knockwurst, semi-hot, jalapeño, and hot. There are a number of mustards and sauces, then the toppings include hot banana peppers, green olives, pickles, and sauerkraut. It costs $ 6 and is more than worth it. Inside the shop you’ll find a number of their wonderful sausages for sale, some cold-cuts, patés and other items. We had the Maple and Bacon sausage tonight, and found it delicious, cooking it the way the helpful associate suggested. The maple flavor wasn’t strong but you really got a hit of bacon, I was able to see the bacon as I was eating so they don’t skimp!

I came by here for a quick bite with my daughter as she felt like a hot dog and we were at the Marche Jean Talon! In most other North American cities they are littered with hot dog carts all over the downtown area! Alas Montréal has strict food cart laws and so hot dog carts are not to be found. Hence William J Walter serves up a mean dog for a bit more than hot dog cart pricing. I ordered up the Jalapeño «all dressed»(sauerkraut, olives, ketchup, mustard) and my daughter just had a mild dog with ketchup. The quality of WJW is quite good, I just believe it to be a bit more than a hot dog should go for. It does however fill you up and leave your tummy satisfied! They do have a very good selection(usually around 15 — 20) that would make any German beer loving dog maniac happy! These WJW’s can be found all over Montréal. Come check one out! They serve you well!

This is one of my go to places in the market, I can’t believe it’s slipped through my Unilocaling fingers for so long! If you are visiting the market this is a delicious option for lunch, it’s just a tiny counter with a ton of homemade sausages but they are always grilling some of their best and you can get them loaded up with kraut and hot peppers and mustards and a lovely toasted bun to walk around with, or park yourself on a stoop or picnic bench in the sun to people watch and enjoy the many live musicians who busk here. If you are preparing a BBQ make this a stop for sure — these are exceptional big fat tasty sausages of all kinds and flavours. I like the jalapeño and cheese and the beer sausage and you know, pretty much all of them.
